My name is Ellie, and as this is my first blog post I'm going to share a little bit about myself and my skin.
I'm 23 years old (soon to be 24 - boo Posted Image ) and I have moderate acne.
It started about three weeks after I turned 19, up until that point I'd had clear skin my whole life. It came in patches around my cheeks, the right hand side being the worst.
Silly teenage me decided to take the pill to try and fix her acne. I used Dianette for 2 years and it cleared up a treat. After I came off of it (as I was advised) I was clear for around a year more with only ocassional hormonal break outs.
Then, around a year ago, I started breaking out more seriously again. The doctor prescribed me various different topical creams and to no avail. Since January, my face has been the worst I've ever seen it, and every week seems to be getting more inflamed and broken out.
My acne tends to be more cystic than pustules, thought that was worth mentioning.
I've been trying to get by with skincare routines and a good diet, because I'm not a fan of the doctors or prescribed medication. I'm a fan of natural healing.
My skin has been so bad lately though that I have caved and booked a doctors appointment for this coming Thrusday.
And that's basically where I'm at. That sounds a bit wordy and long winded (and irrelevant?) for an introductory post but ah well, it's typed now. I'll go into a bit more detail about my current situation later but yeah, a brief history of moi.

Ellie - welcome!  You are definitely not alone.  It is great that you want to try holistic first - its always best to try the natural first but if its not working, move on.  Hopefully your derm will be able to give you some good tips.  If birth control works for you, have you looked into natural pills or creams that regulate hormones and such?  Anyway, keep your head up and remember progress takes time

Good Luck

Thank you! I haven't tried any natural pills, I'm inclined to go that way first before taking any prescription medicine, although I have given in and gone to the doctors today.

Again, thank you for the well wishes, I'm keeping as positive as possible. We'll all get there I'm sure :)
