spironolactone hormonal acne cystic acne severe acne moderate acne
Nevermind.

Despite absolutely no changes in diet, regimen, or medications, it's back to cystic acne. Two on my forehead and a ton on my lower cheeks and jawline. I don't even want to count how many. And it isn't even close to *ahem*.....that time of the month.

I feel like crying over my skin. It's so painful and embarrassing and I am so sick of this sh*t. Every time I get even the teensiest bit hopeful, it's back to square one. I don't even want to leave my house.

Summary:

75 mg Spironolactone
Clearasil Face Wash
Cetaphil SPF 30 Oil Control Moisturizer

I know how you feel. My antibiotics just quit working on me. I am on spironolactone too but I just started it and I only take 50 mg. I broke out in a bunch of teeny tiny whiteheads. after I washed my face they disappeared leaving red spots behind. I f'n hate acne! I want to go on the pill but my bp is too high. anyways cry for me too! I feel your pain. Acutely.

Hey Emsy, hang in there!  I know it's tough to hear that and to do that, but I feel your pain.  Unfortunately I experienced breakouts pretty consistently on my jaw and chin area for the first 2+ months.  I've just stopped with "new breakouts" over the last few weeks and I am 13 weeks on Spiro as of this weekend.  I am not clear yet, as I have some clogged pores remaining from my IB that either flare a bit or just take forever to go.  Have you added any exfoliation into your routine?  AHA/BHA, chemical peels?  This really really helped me this last month in clearing up and keeping the big spots at bay.  Spiro will do its job, it just will be in its own time and I know that really really stinks.  I was so hopeful and would get so discouraged, but keep going and stay positive and focused on your end goal.  It will all be worth this in the end.  I just kept reading the reviews over and over and saw how many women it took 3-4 months to clear and they were so happy.  I read them daily and it gave me strength.
