Day 16 - Not Looking Great

Posted by kcurry90, 18 December 2013 · 316 views

Half way through month 1 and that much closer to being clear..thank god!  So far things are going pretty good. I think I have been going through the purging stage for about the past week. I have gotten a couple inflammed pimples and tons of really small white heads all around my mouth and chin.  And not to mention the blackheads, oh my god the blackheads Posted Image Now I have always had a nose full of blackheads, but they were never so dark and prominent. I can now literally run my finger over my nose/going onto the tops of my cheeks and feel them, feels like sandpaper. It's disgusting.  I guess this is just the medicine doing its thing. I'm hoping in another week or so they will all wash off. Another weird thing, I used to be able to squeeze my nose and tons of gunk would come out, and now if I try literally nothing comes out. So I will be leaving the blackheads alone from now on.

As far as side effects I really don't have much to complain about.  My face is definitely drier, but not at all flaky.  I attribute that to all the moisturizing and I have been trying to wear minimal makeup.  Lips are dry but not cracked, red, or peeling yet.  I will say the skin on my body feels a lot drier and is itchy at times. My scalp has also become very dry and itchy, I'm hoping this doesn't last for the durantion of my course - it's not a cute look to walk around in public constantly scratching my head.

That's pretty much all I have to report.

As for the products I'm using...

Waxelene (for my lips and any dry patches)
Aveeno Skin Relief Moisture Repair Cream
L'Oreal Power Moisture shampoo and conditioner
Jergens Shea Butter Deep Conditioning Body Moisturizer
Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Foaming Cleanser
Olay CC Cream

Will be back in the New Year!

When do you see your dermatologist again? Please do mention that side effect to him/or her , that you are already experiencing an itchy dry scalp. That can definitely be an early sign that you might experience hair loss as a side effect. And it's something serious you should take into mind. I'm not trying to scare you but just trying to make you aware of what could possibly happen, so that you can catch Accutane effects early and not when it's too late.

As for everything else...

Girlllll, with Accutane or any other medicine treatment process comes OCD! You constantly are checking your skin in the mirror , if you're not blogging about it every day you're blogging about it in your head every day to yourself because you want to be clear so bad already! I know the feeling, patience is a mother! Don't worry the time will pass and you'll be clear in no time. =)

I have my next appointment on December 30.  I will say since I posted this my head has become less itchy.  I have noticed however, that when I run my hands through my hair it seems as though more ends up in my hands than in the past. Not to say it's coming out in chunks, it definitely isn't, just a few more strands than I'm used to. And I've noticed my shower drain is becoming more clogged up with hair quicker.
