Day 16: And We're Back

whiteheads redness irritation burning dryness jojoba oil sunscreen stinging regimen dans regimen
Well, I freaked out yesterday, but it looks like my skin is back to progressing.  Most of the areas that were popped yesterday are either now red marks or smaller whiteheads, which I'm fine with.  It could've been worse!

Of course, my skin is also back to its insanely dry, red, and burning routine.  Applying the BP is never bad, but for some reason when I put on the 2 pumps of moisturizer (and 5-6 drops of jojoba now Posted Image ) my skin starts freaking out and stinging like mad.  It definitely needs the full 2 pumps, though.  I just slather it on and let it absorb.  I also always wait 15-20 minutes for the BP to dry beforehand, even if it feels dry sooner, so I guess I'm okay on that part.  The moisturizer might be irritating regardless, especially during the first few weeks.  The BP is just making my skin hate everything.

I've been skipping out on the Philosophy SPF, mostly because I'm not in the sun that often, and it's another irritant to my skin.  Even if it's not comedogenic, it burns pretty badly with the moisturizer.  I only want to use it if I know I'm going to be exposed to the sun for more than 15-20 minutes.  I have olive skin, so I'm not too concerned about it.

I'm also going to switch the makeup I use for shows.  The BB tinted moisturizer was a good idea, but I was reminded yesterday on the Regimen forum that mineral makeup is really the best way to go for acne-prone/sensitive skin.  At first I was reluctant, because Bare Minerals was one of the causes of my acne, but Tarte cosmetics just came out with a new powder foundation that has nothing comedogenic in it!  Wow.  It's the first makeup I've seen without any comedogenic or irritating ingredients.  I can't wait to try it this weekend.

P.S.  Is my face ever going to stop burning?

hi there! it seems like we started the Regimen around the same time. it makes me feel so much better to read your blog, it helps to know someone is going through the same things. i'm excited to hear things are looking up today! i too have been really dry but i'm not getting as much of the redness or burning. i've been keeping a blog of my progress in case you want more details. i've found the jojoba oil really helps. if your'e already burning then i wouldn't recommend the AHA+ lotion. also, maybe try using Cerave brand moisturizer instead of Dan's moisturizer. Cerave doesn't burn the way Dan's does, but it's a little lighter than Dan's. I use Cerave in the morning and Dan's moisturizer in the evening.  good luck!!

ARGGG MY SKIN USE TO BURN WHEN I PUT ON THE MOISTURIZER TOO D:! sorry for the caps lock but omg. it does go away though. I started the regimen in February and I haven't noticed any stinging since...maybe mid june?

I was on a BP roller coaster! BP assaults your skin  and then your skin "protects" itself with more oil - great, I had Burning dry skin that would then rebound with extra oiliness and acne. I just found a system that doesn't have BP - Liquid Oxygen by Neaclear. My skin is finally clear and it is actually soft but not oily or greasy. I ordered it on the website. Good Luck - I have olive skin too and at least acne scars are not as evident on our skin color.

Hey!  I'm so glad you enjoy reading my blog!  I plan to read yours as well, especially if we're at the same point in the Regimen! :) the jojoba does help, I've also found.  My skin is just super sensitive, and the Regimen has definitely exacerbated that.  But it's totally worth it!  I don't plan to use AHA until around 5 weeks in.  I've heard great things about Cerave but I'm anxious to try it because pretty much every ingredient that is slightly comedogenic makes me break out, and I feel like Cerave is no exception.  I'm glad that works for you though! Best of luck to you, too.
