It's Now Or Never--Looking For Encouragement

So I think I had an initial breakout on this skin care regimen because my pores were getting rid of dirt/oil. But, my face is actually fairly clear besides a couple of small red marks that are easily hidden with concealer. I don't really like that my face feels a bit tight after using the PanOxyl wash in the morning, but since it has Benzoyl Peroxide in it, that is to be expected. After take my oral antibiotic, I apply a bit of the topical antibiotic to my entire face and let it dry. Then, I apply the CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion and my face feels great. To see the skin care regimen I am following, look back to post #3.

Overall, I'm pretty excited. I'm somewhat annoyed that I have to wait 30 days to be registered in the I-Pledge system before I can start Accutane, because I really wanted to get my first month or so out of the way before I go back to school, but you can't always schedule everything out. In my head I'm thinking--what if I just keep on this skin care regimen and wait to take Accutane, but I've done this before. I've put off taking the long-term solution. I know the first month or two on Accutane might cause my skin to get dry and flaky, which being in my Senior Year of college won't be fun. But then again, hopefully my skin will clear up and I will have clear skin for the end of fall, Christmas, New Year's, Spring Break, Spring, Graduation, next summer, etc., etc.

If anyone wants to help validate this with their experiences, I'd really appreciate it! I need some words of encouragement and someone to say, "go for it. you can do it. the first couple months may be somewhat sucky, but you'll get through it, and the long-term benefit of having consistently clear, beautiful skin is worth it."

Yeah you pretty much nailed it yourself but it is definitely worth it even if you do have a bad initial breakout, I just started my second month and although I'm still getting spots consistently they aren't nearly as bad as they were and they are much less painful. Everyone reacts differently to accutane but when it's all said and done you should have nice clear skin, you most likely will before you finish the course. I hope it works out and you have a nice easy time with it. Good luck.

Thanks! That's what I was hoping to hear from someone on Accutane. When did your IB start? I'm kind of hoping that this skin care regimen cleared out some of my pores, so maybe I'll have less of an IB on Accutane. Thanks for the encouragement :) I appreciate it! Good luck with your treatment too!

Well I've been keeping track of how many new ones I get per week and the third week I got about 35 compared to around 15 for every other week (5 total so far) I know some people don't get an IB until the second or even third month so I don't think I'm out of the woods just yet but I've definitely noticed a big improvement in the severity of the ones that I do get so I'm slowly getting there. Anyway, I'm glad I could help.
