Swap Antibiotics Or Accutane?

I took tetracycline for two years and it cleared my skin up beautifully. However, my acne returned full blown this year. My dermatologist told me to take the tetracycline again but it has lost effectiveness in my opinion, very little improvement in three months and still getting flare ups.

Should i ask to swap to another tetracycline? Whats the best antibiotic? Or is accutane the way forward if i'm getting major PI Hyper pigmentation?

Bactrim worked pretty well for me but I had to stop because it gave me horrible headaches! But if I were you I would try it! It cleared up my skin pretty well in 2 weeks I was on it and when I got off it also stayed pretty clear but now I'm starting Accutane and my face is a mess!

The way I see it, antibiotics can and will lose their effectiveness eventually. And they're not good for your digestive flora.
I was wondering the same thing, should I go on antibiotics or accutane? And I figured either way I'd be harming my body. So I picked accutane because the results lasted longer for me compared to antibiotics.

Plus, I don't want to deal with things like yeast infections. Sorry if that's TMI lol

It all depends if you want to deal with a initial breakout and multiple breakouts while on the course of accutane. Taking Accutane will improve acne overall better then an antibiotic its just if you think taking maybe 5 months of hell is worth it to you.

I'm on accutane and I don't think it's 5 months of hell.

I've been on it for a month, and so far im fine with it. I am just saying expect it to maybe be like hell, not for certain but it can be for some i think.

The dryness is bothersome, but other than that, it's more of a blessing being on accutane because I know my skin will look amazing after those 5 months!

wow you hit on a popular subject. Definitely amoxicillin works at high doses...a little higher than prescribed...I just take 'em 'till I run out...or Cephalexin that works too....
