Still Looking Pretty Good!

Posted by Know Hope, 29 April 2013 · 758 views

My period should be here in the next couple of days and my skin is looking pretty good still!

For a few days I got pretty lax with all of my supplements, except for the cinnamon with every meal 3 times daily.

I'm pretty sure that is what caused the one pimple I got on my cheek.  It went away quickly, but it bummed me out because I was getting used to having clear skin!

So I'm convinced all of this works together.  Maybe cinnamon cuts down on 50% of my acne, and saw palmetto and vitex cuts down on 30% and my topicals cut down on another 15%.  Or whatever.  Either way, I am so much closer than I have ever been in my life.

To not be dealing with a bad flare up before my period?  Unheard of.  To have no pms  - No bloated gross feeling?  No depression? No cramps?  I thought it was unavoidable - part of being a woman.  The world seems like a better place now that I know I don't have to go through that every month!  Anyway, the day of my period is when I get a final flare up - so I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Now that acne appears to be under control, I'm obsessed with the scars I have on my face.  So I bought a PMD (google it) and will start using it once my period comes and when my skin is less sensitive.

I have one scar that really depresses me, but if I'm able to make it look better I'll be so happy!

Anyone reading this - read up on insulin resistance and acne connection!

Thank you SO much for the detailed posts and keeping up to date on your progress. I also wonder about those who cease posting...are they happy & clear skinned out there somewhere? I certainly like to think so! I am FASCINATED by all the helpful info I've gleamed from scouring this site; your posts in particular strike a familiar chord. Thank you for the medical article reference in your earlier post, "Acne vulgaris, mental health and omega-3 fatty acids: a report of cases": "...some scientists referring to acne as diabetes of the skin [33]." Whoa!
Please, continue to keep us posted on how your recovery is coming along. I am following! I feel like we're on a similar path and I'm so excited to FINALLY have clear skin! The cinnamon will be my next supplement to add to my regimen (I swear I should buy stock in my local health food store!)
Congrats on your engagement!
Oh thanks! I'm glad this is helping! Once I perfect my regimen, I want to post something with all of the research to back up my claims. I'd love it if my obsession with curing my acne helps as many people as possible. What's your regimen? Let me know if cinnamon works for you too. :)
Oh and thanks re: the engagement! My skin will be looking so much better by the time we move in, and that is a miracle for me!
I picked up some cinnamon today and began to take it right before eating (is this when you were instructed to take it?). I think your obsession with sharing your regimen with the world is great. I found an informative website that you may enjoy: thelovevitamin.com. The woman who writes it is also on a 'journey to be acne free', she offers great insight into the world of naturopath.
My regimen: Supplements-DIM (am+pm), Calcium D-Glucarate (am+pm), Cinnamon (before meals), Grapefruit seed extract (am), Evening Primrose oil (am+pm).
Cleansing-Derma e Hydrating cleanser used with electric face brush (clairsonic), Paula's Choice Clear toner, three drops Acure Aragon oil mixed with one big drop tamanu oil mixed with P.C. Clear BP.
My 35 year old hormonal acne is FINALLY almost under control! I did 2 rounds of accutane in college, but my acne has returned to haunt me as an adult. Unfortunately, I'm unable to try accutane again, as I suffer from depression (under control w. rx). Many of my depression symptoms have cleared up with DIM & CDG, which also cleared my skin to only 1 active pimple as of today! Plugged pores & pih scarring are my next issue to conquer.

It's good to hear from another person in the same boat!  I'm 35 too btw.  So how is cinnamon working for you?  I take it before I start eating, 3 x a day.  I read chromium is supposed to help with insulin resistance/depression too - but sometimes it gives me insomnia so I don't always stick with it. Congrats on clearing your skin!

OMG, I am sooo happy to hear your skin is still clear! Yay! My skin erupted with 2 cysts after I wrote that last response, but I pinpointed the culprit: evening primrose oil caps! I stopped taking those and the cysts shrunk & disappeared within a day. WHAAAAT!? YEP!

I must add, I began taking vitamin D3 and I have not ONE SINGLE active zit or even the HINT of one! It's been over a week since I removed the primrose oil & added D3, not ONE zit in a week! :)

I started using Garden of Wisdom, Light & Bright serum a week ago also-to heal scars & pih...I have discovered the holy grail of scar removal! It's $$, and only available via the GOW website, but I cannot express the incredible change that has occurred in my skin in only a week! My face has been discolored from BP use in the past, and is now the same color as my neck after using the light & bright serum. Seriously, I look like a normal skin person again!

I'm still doing all the other supplements, I've laxed on my strict diet regimen though. I guess the breakout weren't diet related! Yesssss! It is waaay too difficult to eat like that.
Congrats on your skin! Onto bigger & better things than fretting about our skin troubles!
