Im a 27 year old female that has battled moderate to mild acne for approximately 10 years. My acne is strictly hormonal and stress induced! After 8 years of using oral and topical antibiotics I have had enough. Quick list of every item I have used...erythromycin, doxycycline, minocycline, solodyn, duricef, duac gel, proactive, every natural remedy available, led pens....and the list goes on.
I recently was married in June, and I had to battle acne right up to my wedding day. I cant tell you how many tears were shed over the years over my stubborn acne. My acne was so bad on my chin a few years ago my dermatologist tested my for staph infection....gross! Acne ruins peoples' self esteem! No one with clear skin understands what its like to live with acne.
I finally have decided a last ditch effort to fix my acne once and for all by starting a course of accutane. So....I am totally freaking out! Im 5'3" and 105 lbs, and taking 30 mg twice daily. Im looking for some guidance, because i don't know if what im experiecing is normal.
Im on my 9th day, and I have the typical dry lips and dry face...however my face is still really shiny. Here's what is really bothering me, ive always had plugged pores that you could hardly see (never really bothered me). In the areas where these plugged pores and blue dots, which my derm says are deep blackheads, exist welts are forming and starting to look like a hive rash.
I'm so upset, because I had clear skin prior to starting accutane due to my antibiotics kicling in finally and wedding stress was over.
Please any advice/guidance would help. I hope I am in right place to blog my journey! I don't have any support from family because they hate that I am jeopordizing my health while on this powerful drug. Thanks for reading!
