picking acne bad habit stop start healing
Hey everyone!

It is *counts on fingers* day 11 of my journey and despite my little hiccup things have started off again well. Day 9 was VERY difficult, as my picking had all but reversed my small, but crucial progress. Starting again was much more difficult but necessary! My face is healing well, though I leaned heavily on my family with the appearance of a very deep, very large, and very painful zit on my upper cheekbone. Perhaps one of the largest I have ever had, it swelled rapidly and sat, large and angry on my face for several days before becoming a white head. I swear it was winking at me. My wrist still sports bruises from the near incessant snapping but for once i didn't pick until my skin was bleeding and ruined. Earlier today, it popped on its own and has decreased dramatically in size. YAY!

[Update: My face loves symmetry, same kind of zit on the same spot on the other side of my face. Really?? C'mon!]

I think that I have found a regime that works to keep my face clean, moisturised, and healing well. Wash with warm soap and water in the morning. If I wear make up then when I return home I wash it off with warm water and Clearsil. Before bed I use clearsil again, and use a TINY bit of shea butter.  I have had good results so I'll keep with it. The humidity is terrible for me though, my skin is naturally oily and as I sweat my pores become more and more clogged.

My parents were very generous and for my birthday last Friday; they gave me a certificate for a deep cleansing facial. ^^

Keep moving forward and good luck!

Nicky!! Don't put shea butter on your face. It is a serious fatty grease. You only need to use oil-free moisturizer that wont clog pores. Try also adding some type of anti-acne regimen like Dan's regimen. If you want to get serious about stopping your breakouts see a dermatologist. They have some serious anti-acne meds and they work very well. I should know, I am on everything! (I breakout very rarely): Benzaclin, topical clindamycin, tretinoin, keflex, amoxil and spiro :btw using clearasil is really smart!

O_O oh!! Thanks!! I didn't know that. I'm not to keen on starting on drugs just because of the amount I take already. I'm trying by myself for now. Would 1% Hydrocortisone work? *hangs head* I know I should see a dermatologist but I can never seem to find the time
