Still Fighting The Good Fight!

I am entering my first month of Cephalexin treatment where I literally have to take only two pills per day. I'm kinda nervous.

wow what a difference! your skin looks great! Im also using tretinoin 0.01% but the gel version and have also used clindamycin but in liquid, my derm took me off the clindamycin and now just doing microdermabrasions for the acne scars, taking an oral antibiotic and using the tretinoin....congrats on your skin!!!

Is cephalexin an antibiotic? By the way amazing improvement! You don't even have left over scars, so jealous. How long were you on this treatment?

Cephalexin is an antibiotic from the penicillin family. I also take Amoxicillin. These two antibiotics are particularly effective. Don't be jealous. I do have scars they're just really faint. I can see them in the mirror and my daughter can see them but for some reason they aren't severe enough to be seen by my digital cameras. I have been on this treatment regimen for just over three years. My theory of treatment is called "constant pressure". I always have at least two acne fighting creams and gels on my face. Right after I wash off benzaclin, I apply tretinoin mixed with clindamycin and so forth. I also saturate my inner blood with antibiotic. I take the pills all day long for two years. Hope this helps. Peace!

Thank you. Your regimen sounds awesome! I can't afford microdermabrasion but once I get a job again, which will be soon, I'll try it. I have some scars like just uneven texture and I would love to get my cheeks perfectly smooth. The scars bother me even though no one notices them until they are up close and personal. (I was disabled in 2010 and had to close my law practice. I was trained as a civil rights attorney. I went to college and law school here in snowy Minnesota...brrrr...)

wow, your skin looks soooo beautiful! quite a change.

Do these antibiotics not cause bacteria resistant? in the past I used antibiotics but they always stopped working after a while.  Is this why your doctor is changing?

I have no idea why but amoxicillin and cephalexin are still working. Resistance is always a possibility but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. If my antibiotics stops working my dermatologist will have to try to find one that is effective. Hopefully my regimen will continue to work as I have no plans to stop treatments. I do worry about bacterial resistance though but it hasn't happened and it's been three years. Thanks for the compliment, it has been a hard road. I tried every antibiotic under the sun before I started amoxil. Later I started keflex and now I use both to try to confuse the bacteria. Once they learn amoxil I switch to Keflex and then back to amoxil. It seems to be working. lmao
