Thanks. It has been a long hard road. When I lost my health insurance 4 years ago, my skin hit rock bottom. I tried to buy antibiotics for myself but I could not afford to see a dermatologist. I got prescribed some weak medications that never worked. Eventually I got health insurance again at an affordable price and I began seeing a dermatologist who presccribed me Amoxil. Thats when everything turned around for me.
congrats on being clear thats so great.... how long did it take you to adjust to the retin a 1% and the clindamycin? I just bumped up to the .05% retin a a few weeks ago i still have the peeling red dry feeling and am trying to be patient and wait it out... still getting the white heads- I just wonder how long it took to see a difference and how long it took to where you werent constantly getting new break outs

Hi Lauren,
It took about two years for the breakouts to halt. I credit a lot of the healing to antibiotics but the retin-a and clindamycin still played a huge role. It took several months for my skin to adjust to the retin-a. I exfoliate with my finger tips when I wash my face so that keeps peeling at a minimum. As you can see from my "before" photos, I had severe cystic acne. Whatever treatments you use, just hang in there because it will improve!!
