Good News About Benzaclin

Good News About Benzaclin I have been religously applying benzaclin twice a day. It has been an excellent exfoliator as well as drying up oil. It also has an anti-biotic in it. Long story short, my face is clear and smoother than ever! Thanks Dr. Knapp!

Im hoping for good results with benzaclin when I get to pick them up at the pharmacy tomorrow. They were so expensive since I do not have insurance, but it really does lighten up my mood to see that it works for you and maybe it can work for me too.
Good luck
Is this the same thing as Acanya (BP and clindamycin)?
Yes. Acanya is the new Benzaclin. I still use the old formulation. I was thinking to let my dermatologist know that I want to try acanya. Acanya has a slightly higher dose of anti-biotic and a lower dose of benzoyl peroxide, so as to be less irritating. I have found that after three months of use, I no longer experience the side effects of benzaclin. I just get smooth clear skin with a little bit of dryness. I prefer a bit of dryness since left alone, my skin is a literal bastion of oil.
I've been using benzaclin for four days now and it is really drying out my skin I feel like a snake shedding. BUT I do see improvement especially with the huge cysts I had. The itchiness torments me so much too. I was wondering does your benzaclin dry white? Do you have the same side effects like me?

Just some extra info about my benzaclin I have is a generic version i think its called clindamycin

... to answer your question, mine dries white sometimes..I also majorly take oral Keflex. The benzaclin causes serious drying for the first six weeks but then it subsides a bit. I use purpose oil-free moisturizer and that helps. I don't get too fussy over the dryness since it knocks acne off the block! One thing about me I HATE acne. That explains why I use all of the toughest meds just short of accutane. Stick with it it gets easier. I apply benzaclin twice a day. When I wash it off, I apply topical tretinoin mixed with a thimble full of topical clindamycin gel (Cleocin-T)
