My Doctor Quit On Me...

Posted by amoxilworx, 08 August 2012 · 292 views

Because I complained that my spironolactone exclusive regimen may not be working, my dermatologist referred me to another doctor...I am very nervous and hurt...she was my dermatologist for over 10 years...and she pretty much cleared my skin up. As long as I use my entire regimen, I barely breakout:

My routine:

Step A. Wash face with dial antibacterial...

New Dose Of Spironolactone

Posted by amoxilworx, 28 July 2012 · 626 views

New Dose Of Spironolactone I took my blood test and my potassium level was within normal range. Immediately my dermatologist increased my dose of spironolactone from 50mg a day to 100mg a day. I still take 2,000mg of Keflex everyday and I continue to use topical clindamycin and topical tretinoin along with benzaclin twice a day. Basically I keep my blood and the skin on my face...

Happy With Benzaclin Etc...

I have been having an epic battle with acne. The worst kind of cyctic scarring acne. The kind that makes my face a red mess all year round. But the good news is that I am now winning that battle. I recently added benzaclin twice a day to my existing regimen: 2,000mg a day of Keflex, Topical clindamycin (takes care of the smaller ones), topical tretinoin and...

Terrified Of Quitting Anti-Biotics!

My dermatologist is really skilled. She has kept my breakouts at bay for over a year. However, I take high doses of Amoxicillin every day (I also take Keflex, but I'll explain that later). My dermatologist recently put me on spironolactone. Yesterday I found out that my doctor wanted me to get my blood potassium...

Benzaclin Causes Skin Peeling

Posted by amoxilworx, 16 July 2012 · 481 views

My new theory is that Benzoyl peroxide prevents acne by peeling your face and then reducing clogged pores. I used benzaclin for a week since I ran out of Topical clindamycin (I now have a tube I filled at the pharmacy yesterday). My face became very dry. But then I laid off for a day or so and my face started peeling. My question is, if I stick with...

The Clearer My Skin Gets The More I Obsess About Small Problems...

Posted by amoxilworx, 15 July 2012 · 272 views

You have to understand...I used to have a face flush with cystic (scarring type) acne. Pimples everywhere of every size. The breakouts were constant. I never ever had clear skin for years. Then I started Amoxicillin, topical clindamycin and tretinoin like a year ago and bam....smooth skin all around. I recently began Spironolactone 50 mg a day. But my new...

Benzaclin New In The Mix...

I have an ongoing prescription for benzaclin. This is due in part to the fact that I run out of topical clindamycin from time to time and I need a topical substitute. The only downside about it is that it burns like hell. It is now 11:00AM and I plan to leave the medication on until 2:30PM. One thing about using benzaclin that is hard is that it is very...

I am on my 4-5th week of Spironolactone. Its stil hard for me to tell if its working but so far I have only had one pimple which I guess is amazing...but I want more. I want zero pimples forever! Maybe thats just a dream...I am on a 50mg a day dose of spironolactone. I also take 1,000mg a day of amoxicillin and tonight I switch for awhile to cephalexin...

Week 3.5 On Spironolactone

Posted by amoxilworx, 06 July 2012 · 373 views

Week 3.5 On Spironolactone For starters, I use way more than just spironolactone. My regimen includes the following: 1,000mg of Amoxil daily, two applications of topical clindamycin 1% gel, one application nightly of Topical tretinoin 0.1%. I also periodically, by making a special request to my dermatological nurse, who then forwards the message to my derm, take an elevated dose of...

Excited About Spironolactone...

for those with severe acne
Before you think Spironolactone has done all the work I should remind folks that I also use generous amounts of topical clindamycin 1% gel, topical tretinoin .1% cream and 1,000mg of Amoxil daily. That said, the addition of Spironolactone seems to have the effect of shrinking blemishes quickly, overnight even. I guess the spironolactone dampens oil...
