5 Months Of Accutane Finished 3 More To Go

I have seen my derm yesterday and was told I will have to go through 3 more months of accutane, 20mg per day. Even though my skin looks very good, apart from pigmentation, I need to reach the correct cumulative dose for my weight. I am not bothered by that and would rather carry on with the low dose than quit it now. I was given epaderm ointment for my dry lips and it really does make a difference. There are no side effects at the moment except dry lips and nostrils. I was also told that even after 3 extra months they might keep me on accutane for some more time. I guess I scared them so much with the state of my skin at the beginning, they really want to make sure I get enough of the tane to fix my acne, so they never see that scary face again hahaha The look on the face of my dermatologist when he first saw me 5 months ago was priceless, haha...I guess he thought I look too alien and abnormal even for someone who have seen a lot. To be honest even now my leopard face is way too ugly to be shown in pictures but I am sure one day I will post a very nice picture of me here for you to see:) I hope you are all doing well and finding good treatments to fight this horrible disease. Hey there!
How bad was your acne before you start this tratment?
In what mouth did u get a full clear or almost full clear?
Did u get an initial break out ?

Hi, my acne was really, really bad it was mostly pustules and cyst, some whiteheads as well. I would call it severe. Acne was everywhere on my face and head as well, sometimes on my back. Initial breakout was really bad and happened on the 2nd month which lasted until everything healed at the end of month 4. I wish I could post pictures of my acne before but it is way too scarier that anything posted here by other people. Thanks your story is very helpful , I know everyone is different but if I got my really bad IB in my 3 week that means I will heal faster ?

you might heal faster also because I am type 1 diabetic and generally all healing processes with me are much longer than with people without it. It will pass, do not worry:)

I know it will , just scholl starts in 24th september and I'm just wooried if there will be no improvment on my acne?..

If I were to guess there will be an improvement by 24th september for sure. We are talking 1 and 1/2 months for IB to heal, it should be enough unless you have underlying condition which might slow the process a bit. Take your time to deal with this problem looks are not the only thing that matters in a human body. Humour your looks for now, it will get better.
