Accutane didnt work for me

I just wanted to tell everyone of my experience on this drug. Today I took the last pill on my 5 month course of accutane. I took a total of 129 mg/kg (40mg month 1 and 60mg for 4 months) and have not fully cleared at the end of my course. Today I broke out with another pimple While my face has improved dramatically, it is still not 100% clear as I hoped. While my derm offered me another month, I decided to end it. I am so tired of being completely dry and worn out all the time. I feel as if my emotions are out of control and I am constantly on edge with people. I have been lashing out at my girlfriend for the smallest things and I constantly feel anxiety and unhappy.

If anyone is starting this drug, I dont want to discourage them, but to tell them of my experience. While accutane has worked for a ton of people, especially on this site, it has just not worked of me personally.

I am still hoping that I am one of those that clear up once their course is over , as I have read on here that is the case with some people

Still Breaking Out

So I have completed 4.5 months with two weeks to go in my 5 month course (40 mg month 1, 60 mg since and I weigh 65kg) and I woke up with 2 new pimples today!! I have still been getting a new one every few days and my skin is not much better than when I started with mild acne. I know the drug is taking effect since I have all the usual side effects. I have my derm appointment in 2 weeks and I am not sure if I should push for another month. My derm is pretty liberal with the accutane and offered me a low dose after I get off for maintanence. I have heard of people breaking out until their course is over and then clearing up so Im not sure if I should thorugh in the towel and hope for the best. Any advice for someone whos down and out right now because if my acne ??

Low Maintenance Dose

so I will finish up my 5 month course (40 mg month one, 60 mg 4 months) in two weeks. My doctor has offered my a maintenance dose of 40 mg twice a week, so just over 10 mg per day. Has anyone had any experience with a low dose after their full dose for maintenance? I have had pretty good results so far and would like to keep them up. Thanks!

Accutane and having a beard

I am now on day 97 of accutane (40mg first month, 60mg months 2, 3, and 4) and I am still breaking out as I was before I started. I mostly have mild acne in my beard region, with the occasional pimple elsewhere on my face. Before I started I decided to grow a short beard to hide some of the acne. During the course I have made a point to wash my face and beard and moisturize as normal the skin under my beard. The oil on my skin has gone and I am getting the normal side effects (dry lips, rash on hands) so I know the medicine is working. I also make sure to take it with a fatty meal. Do you think that my not clearing up has anything to do with the short beard I have grown? Is it just irritating my skin further or should the accutane compensate for that? Should I just wait it out until the end of the course and see? I am getting a little depressed due to the fact that I haven't cleared up yet Thanks for the help!

Missing Doses

I have been on accutane since 12/13/08 with 40mg the first 30 days and then up tp 60mg since the. I should be on day 107 (3 months and 17 days), but I am really on day 95 (completed 3 months and 5 days), due to missing doses here and there and delay at the Derm and phamracy. What effect does this have on my course? I have never missed more than two days in a row. This is my second round and have yet to clear up, but my oil is gone and I am having the side effects so I know the medicine is doing its thing. I am so anxious to clear up, but is missing those days just delaying the process of clearing up? Thanks!!
