I've almost 100% confirmed by now that SA products make me light/hypopigmented on certain parts of my face if I used them daily. This has happened to me on a number of occasions and I am almost positive it's due to regular SA use (the pads). Do weird things happen to anyone else due to SA? I've had it burn small parts of my skin too, and it takes weeks to get better. I'm gonna chill on the SA...I find it effective for breakouts and keeping pores clear, but I don't know about these side effects.
I tried downgrading to 1% pads rather than 2% but I still got the light areas. I'm kinda pissed but...it is rubbing acid on your face after all

I've been studying hardcore and sometimes having irregular showers, and I'm noticing my back breaks out if I give it the slightest opportunity by skipping a shower. I always tend to my face but it's only now dawning upon me that my back demands the same consistency to avoid problems. I figured if I stayed inside studying all day and didn't sweat or dirty my clothes I might be okay. But unfortunately just the natural buildup of sweat and oiliness causes breaking out.
I guess it's the same as the face after all. Because I mean, I wouldn't expect my face to stay problem free if I skipped out on washing it here and there. But damn, washing the face is so much easier than taking a whole shower. I know it sounds lazy but it interrupts studying. Okay maybe it is kinda lazy but it can be hard to be motivated to do it if you know you're going to be cooped up all day and not see anyone. I guess I'll have to be more disciplined about it henceforth or accept the consequences. By the way I find that it is effective for me to use a handled brush/scrubber along with SafeGuard soap. Dial antibacterial is similar but slightly weaker.

Damn, I had this whitehead that I know was gonna become a pimple soon so I decided to be proactive with it to avoid future probs. I got a needle and cleaned it and all. But I couldn't get anything out, now it's just kinda sore and swollen and painful.
Same thing with pimples--isn't it so frustrating when you make unsuccessful attempts? I know it's just gonna be worse now

I don't know about you guys, but right after washing my face and in the several ensuing minutes (maybe up to 30 min) my face seems to look less presentable. And then I find it less ugly looking after that time somehow. Has anyone else noticed this? Maybe I wash off the oils or something and my skin is bare and exposed in all its ugliness.
I've just consciously become aware of this, but for a long time now I realize I've been subconsciously trying to wash up at least 30 minutes before heading out in the morning. Heading out immediately would make me feel really uneasy. |
