Hi there

I know a lot of you guys out there uses some kind of hair wax/paste for your hair and I can bet that some of you have had problems with breakouts on the forehead, back of neck, and hairline due to this... Or maybe some of you even avoid wearing anything in the hair and prefer to look like a walking ape rather than risk the breakouts...

Wouldn't it be great to have a product you could apply liberally without having to worry about breakouts? Something you could have in the hair even when you're in the gym and the sweat is dripping from the hair? A product you didn't have to wash out before bed because you're afraid it might get onto the pillow and clog pores?

This is just a warning call for those of you considering the Vitamin B5 route. I took Vitamin B5 for six months. I slowly upped the dosage and slowly reduced it before i quit.

February 2008 - B5: First week: 1 gram of B5. Second week: 5 grams B5. Third/fourth week: 10 grams B5
March 2008 - B5: 10 grams each day
April 2008 - B5: 10 grams each day
May 2008 - B5: 8,5 grams each day for 15 days then 7 grams the rest of the month
June 2008 - B5: 5 grams
July 2008 - B5: 3 grams for 10 days, 2 grams for 10 days and 1 gram for 10 days

After three months my face was clear, but it didn't do much for my body acne/pityrosporum folliculitis. After a while(5 months-->) I started noticing stomach problems. Very frequent bathroom visits, diarrhea, digestion problems and cramps after eating. This has only gotten worse and I still have the stomach problems. I'm not going to kill myself or anything it just kinda worries me that it has only gotten worse after quitting B5. If B5 was a permanent fix I would probably be okay with these side effects, but my facial acne slowly crept back after stopping the vitamin.

Just be warned that taking megadoses of B5 isn't necessarily safe just because you read online that it's water soluble. The thread in this section about B5 should be unstickied, taking 10 grams of B5 a day has nothing to do with clearing up your acne a natural way. I was a fool for trying it.

And, if anyone has any recommandations regarding my stomach and digestion problems don't hesitate to reply!

I've looked at the Dr.bronner's soaps and more natural products, but I have yet to find a natural soap/cleanser for my upper body that has the right PH. Dr. bronners soaps has a PH of around 8, I need something around 5.5.

Anyone?

I'm tired of trying to keep the Pityrosporum Folliculitis in check by trying new topical antifungals all the time. Most of the topicals seem to work for a short period of time before the Folliculitis comes back.

So I went to a dermatologist and got prescribed Sporanox(itraconazole) for eight days. Offcourse the derm knew next to nothing about folliculitis and began a speech stating her excellent results with acne patients. If she had know just a little about folliculitis I would have probably trusted what she said about most of my problem being acne. However, she seemed to just want to get rid of me and prescribed Sporanox in a hurry to get me out. Atleast I got what I wanted, an oral antifungal.
Atleast, if this doesn't work I will be sure it's not Pityrosporum Folliculitis i got. From what I have read oral antifungals nearly always seem to have an effect on people with Pityrosporum Folliculitis.

I'm going to follow the regimen used in this study.
However, I'm going to take 100 mg in the morning and 100 mg at night. Also I will occasionally use Nizoral shampoo, selsun shampoo or ZNP. I take fish oil and Apple Cider Vinegar aswell.

Wish me luck:)

Hi

Do you get acne on both your face and body or just one of them?

Hoping for a poll

Btw, maybe you have tried Nizoral tablets? I'm planning to give them a second shot (I've tried them for a couple of weeks back in the past) but for a longer period. 1 pill daily for a period of one month. It seems like there are a lot of derms that suggest this procedure for folliculitis.

Hey, how's your regimen going? Do you have any success with the bacne problem? I also have acne on my back, chest, shoulders and even upper-arms. It's not that bad (it's moderate, I think) but it's hardly persistent and doesn't seem to respond to any kind of treatments.
