Hey everyone.
I am sure you've probably read from the holistic section that Niacin works FANTASTICALLY!
Thompsons in New Zealand has a Niacin, but it is not the best kind.
I went along to vitamin shoppe, wanted to order some Niacin. $55 USD!! For 500mg (100 caps) of Niacin. This is because of the $41 shipping.
If we can get lots of kiwis to join in, we can order some of the good niacin (Inositol Hexaniacinate) and save a bunch on shipping.
If you are in, please SMS me on 021943995, or PM me =)

Okay so what do we think of taking all of these supplments at the same time:
Vitamin A
Vitamin B3 (or B-Complex)
Vitamin C
and Zinc
Do we think the recommended dosage for preventing acne may help?

I want to start taking zinc and vitamin C supplements but I'm very confused on how many mg's I should take. Every response I read of someone recommending a dosage amount, it's always different.
How do I know how much I should take? Thank you!:D

I noticed it`s cheaper and the pantothenic acid tabs I ordered are circular, not like the tabs on the picture at all...
Do anyone know where I can order "quality" B5, preferably 500 or 1000 mg per tab?

I noticed that many of you take a plethora of supplements and I was curious to find out, if you were only allowed to take one vitamin/supplement what would it be? Multivitamins do count.....
*side note* Any of you know of a very good multivitamin?

I have been taken zinc for three weeks now and it has helped with my post hyperpigmentation but it seems to of made my face redder. Has anyone else experienced their tone of their face become redder after being on a zinc supplement?

hi
i am a week into Dans regime, and was thinking about taking zinc and fishoil aswell.
I have a couple of questions
a) is it ok to take both zinc and fishoils at the same time?
b) is it true that you have to take zinc alongside other supplements (coppper???)
c) would you suggest any vitamins as well/instead of the zinc and fishoils?
Thanks for any replies

I am going to start taking the following, and have already included some with success.
Taurine (1000 mg 3x per day)
Beta Carotene (20 mg)
Zinc (50 mg)
Chromium (600 mcg)
I will also be taking a B-Complex but the site I order it on has a lot of information on the doses and I am confident in my purchase. I was wondering about Beta Carotene though, is it really going to help with my acne? I was thinking Vitamin A might be more effective (albeit more dangerous).

Hey guys,
I'd just like to know what dietary supplements are best to take to fight against acne? I've seen so many people say "I use this supplement, I use that supplement" and I'm so confused as to which one is the most effective and ultimately the most useful.
Are there any basic supplements that we should all be taking?
Are there any we shouldn't take to avoid breakouts?
Thanks for the help!

I took vilantae (vitamin B5) for 3 months last year with no results. I went on their website yesterday ou of boredom and it said that B5 enables coenzyme A to be made, which breaks down fats instead of them being secreted as sebum.
Does this have any scientific grounding? Is that really why we get oily skin? And if so, why didn't vilantae work for me? I read somewhere it may be because it has biotin in it? Confuuuused...

I'm just wondering if any vitamins help the process of Accutane? I've seen a few posts where people are saying they take Vitamin E to help prevent IB. Is that true?
I just started Accutane last week. So if there is anything out there to make the process easier I would definitely give it a go.
Any suggestions are appreciated!!
Thanks everyone (:

I'm currently on Zinc Piconilate and Vitamin E, they are both working quite well. I recently came off Fish Oil, as I found that it made my acne slightly worse whilst I was on it.
Please could you recommend some vitamins which are the best for aiding acne, and are in-line with the acne I suffer from. My acne is mainly hormonal and bacterial (mainly focused on the chin), I tried a topical Vitamin A not too long ago, and it caused horrific results.
I've been thinking about Nicotinamide and Vitamin B5; however, I am not sure how well these would compliment my current vitamins or help my acne.

I have been researching the different vitamins that might help. I think I have narrowed down trying the Niacinamide (B3) and or B5. Would you recommend taking these as individual caplets or taking the Vitamin B Complex, which contains all the B vitamins?
I just started taking a multi-vitamin (One a Day Womens) and a Vitamin C each day.
I went to the dermo this week who basically gave me two options: accutane (not ready for this yet, too scary as of now, might be ready someday in the future but not now) or BC (can't take because of heart condition). I am trying to see if a more holistic approach would work, diet and vitamins.
Thanks for all your support and help!

I've heard that taking a vitamin that has to many things in it your not really benefiting from it because your body can't take in so many different things in at once effectively...
Does anyone think this is true, and if so what are the most important vitamins that I need to take. I've heard a lot about zinc...

I bought the "Nature Made" green tea extract, 150 mg, and I was wondering
how much is normal to take per day? Does anyone else take green tea pills?
I always forget to drink green tea, so i guess this is easier.

I was in my local healthfood place today. Browsing through the supplements section I noted that you can buy, for instance, a 500mg Calcium supplement - but the equivalent in the food-state section was only 50mg. And in general, the food-state vitamins have much lower amounts of the vitamin or mineral.
When I asked the store person about this she said that it was because the food-state vits were more bioavailable and that, therefore, much less was needed.
This is fine but it raises two questions; one, if you're aiming for say 500mg of something do you have to take more or less of these? and two, are regular supplements really only giving you a tenth of the value on the label? The store person didn't seem 100% so I said I'd ask you guys.
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge with these?

Hey!
well, I guess I'm too lazy to buy multiple vitamins, so I bought the One-A-Day teen advantage multivitamin, and I wanted to get some feed back on it, so I'll list the "supplement facts"
Vitamin A (20% as beta-carotene) 2500IU, Vitamin C 120 mg, Vitamin D 800 IU, Vitamin E 30 IU, Vitamin K 25 mcg, Thiamin (B1) 2.3mg, Riboflavin (B2) 2.6 mg, Niacin 30 mg, Vitamin B6 3mg, Folic Acid 400mcg, Vitamin b12 9 mcg, BIotin 300 mcg, Pantothenic Acid 10 mg, Calcium (elemental) 300 mg, Iron 18 mg, Magnesium 50 mg, Zinc 15 mg, Selenium 20 mcg, copper 2 mg, Manganese 2 mg, Chromium 120.
Okay, well I bascially don't know what any of that means, but I do notice the zinc is really low, which upsets me because it's recomended in higher doses. I don't know, does anyone think this will help with skin?
Also, I bought 150 mg extract of green tea, and I wanted to know if anyone uses that and in what doses?
Also, Also, I noticed (as I hopelessly stared at the vitamin counter) that vitamin b5 doesn't exsist? Is it usually reffered to as b5?
Help me! Thank you!!

I'm wondering if anyone can help. I have been taking vitamin D (I was taking D3, but now I am taking D2, as I am vegetarian) for about 4 months now. I am only taking 1,000IU of vitamin D2 per day. But it really clears my spots
BUT over the last 48 hours I have developed a pain on my left foot, where the toes join to the foot. It's a pain just like cramp, but it won't go away. It came on suddenly. It hurts me to walk, so I have to hobble around.
So, I am wondering whether this is a sign of too much vitamin d, and therefore too much calcium? I am hoping this isn't the case, for the sake of my skin.
Or could it be that this sudden symptom is a lack of something else, like salt, water, or cod liver oil? I might be being overly cautious, posting on here, but the pain isn't going away and I don't want to stop taking the D2 unless I really have to.
Thanks!

Hello everybody,
I believe that simply taking vitamins daily will help keep me clear. I am normally 100% clear, but often times (like last night) I will break out and get like 3 pimples in various areas on my face. I want to put an end to that and begin to build a better complexion and tone. Based on my research from posts around here, I have come up with the following daily vitamins:
Zinc (50 mg)
Flaxseed Oil w/ omega 3,6,9 (1000 mg)
Vitamin C (500 mg)
Vitamin D3 (1000 IU)
Basically, I want to know:
1. Is this a good way to start?
2. Will any of these CAUSE me to breakout?
3. What other vitamins do you suggest? (I also have B-complex vitamins but am not sure if that is the same as B5).
4. What about Vitamin E? (Should I include that as well?)
Thanks in advance,
 |
