Also how long did it take to get clear? |

i wouldn't go near 20g unless talking to a doctor or your acne is the most severe in the world

I'm also wondering how small of a dose did you start with? I'm thinking about starting B5 myself but am interested in low dose like 1-2g only. You still have dry skin after 9 months of stopping? Would you say you had dry or oily skin to begin with? If your skin was dry before then B5 would just make it even drier... |

Hi shirleyB,my skin is horribly dry now,it flakes constantly and ive had no oil return after coming off b5,actually my skin is even drier now then it was when i was taking them and also im suffering hair loss very badly but i think thats because im still so dry,ive got no oil in my hair to keep it nourished.Im hoping this is just temporaliry though and that within the next few months things should start to get better.I hate being so dry,i do actually want some oil back.
I started on a few a day at first but that did nothing for me so i started to up my dose to 10 a day and that was when i broke out badly so i took the 20 and it was a miracle when i did because i really literally cleared up overnight but i really wouldnt reccomend to any1 to take such high dose because i believe thats why i am now suffering badly from hair loss and very dry skin If i could go back i would of never have done it.My skin was never this dry before i ever took any b5,it was quite bearable but now it is just very badly dry and im amazed that im still dry after all this time,i was actually expecting to be spotty again within a week of no b5 Goodluck with it anyway if you decide to take it but i wouldnt advice anyone to take as much as i did. |

I've been taking 500 mg of B5 for a couple months now. Definitely noticed positive results within the 1st month. That said, I am not completely clear, but I don't get huge, long lasting cysts anymore -- I still get some cysts, but they're much smaller and gone within a day or two. I'm not going to risk taking a larger dose and I'm happy with the results I got from the 500 mg. I also take a B-100 everyday. This amount did not seem to have much effect on my oily skin though.

Hi pam_B, I'm sorry to hear about your skin and hair issue. 20g a day is really quite a bit and I wouldn't be surprise that the side effects will last a bit longer than usual. The thing that we'd do for clear skin...Try use a very intense moisturizer for the time being, even Vaseline plus jojoba oil. Does your skin become red because of the dryness? I'm planning on taking a low dose for to avoid side effects but that also means it'll take much longer to work, if it works at all.. QUOTE I've been taking 500 mg of B5 for a couple months now. Zenergy, did you get an IB at this dosage??? |

I did not get an initial breakout from the 500 mg. For a brief period, maybe one week, I did try to increase it to 1-1.5 gm and that amount did seem to cause some new eruptions. I stopped the higher amount not because of the breakouts, but because I just don't like taking massive doses of anything. I did read in the product review section of a few people who took 500 mg and it helped them also (that's why I initially tried it). When I'm done with my 500 mg pills, I'm going to buy the powdered version and try to alternate between 500 and 250 mg a day. Also, I was going to wait to post this because I like to give products a few months to know if they work, but for about two weeks now my skin has not gotten any cysts (some light breakouts) and has been much less oily. I started using tepezcohuite soap and pomade and a homemade msm toner. I use the soap twice a day and use the pomade 4-5 x's a week at night. The msm toner, I use twice a day. For the toner, I add 12 gm of msm to 1/4 cup of water (refrigerate). During the day, I have to layer lotion over the msm toner so it's not all powdery. I started this to help with my pitted scarring (no results yet of course), but it's helped with my acne so far.

Hi Zenergy, I have deep cysts myself that never come to heads so I am glad to hear it helps with cysts. The other thing is oily skin, I'm hoping that a low dose can also reduce my sebum secretion somewhat. Did you get a reduction of oil within a week or in days?? If you want to try even a lower dose, you can buy the 100mg B5 pills from vitamin world. I got one of these and I'm planning on starting with 250mg a day, when I indeed begin the regimen. |

I did not notice a decrease in oil using the B5, atleast not much of one. I'm very oily though, so you might have better luck. I did notice a decrease in oil within the first week of using the msm and tepezcohuite. I'm not positive, but I think it's due to the msm toner -- it leaves a powdery residue and even with the layer of moisturizer my skin has a matte look. I don't get nearly as much shine thoughout the day anymore and hopefully that will continue. However, just for the record, tepezcohuite is suppose to help with oily skin too, so I can't say if it's one or the other or the combination. I will keep you updated with how things go. Good luck. |

I see what you mean, when your skin keep flaking off it's difficult to moisturize...Maybe you need to take or eat something internally to stimulate sebum secretion again, altho I don't know what...fried food?! Oh, I thought when you mentioned a decrease in oil, it was due to the B5 Please keep me update Zenergy as I am planning on taking the same approach as you do.. |

Hi shirleyB to be honest i thought that as soon as i started to eat greasy food/chocolate etc that i'd start to get oily agen but that doesnt work.Ive been eating total crap for months now but i still havent had even 1 spot return,it is good when you can eat anything you like and stay clear but i do actually wish that by eating junk food it would make my skin oily cos i am really so dry,i dont like it at all.
I was thinking of taking some biotin but ive changed my mind because ive heard that it can cause worse acne and i dont want to bring my acne back worse then it was.Im just not going to take anymore supplements whatsoever, especially after b5 has caused me to lose my hair I wish you goodluck with it anyway if you decide to take it x |

Okay pam_B, please keep us update with your skin & hair issues. I do hope that the side effects you're experiencing will soon wear off completely. BTW, I heard that biotin helps with the hair problem due to B5. May do a little research on that..
QUOTE How many b-complex pills should I take a day if im taking about 15 pills of b5? I've read people here who're taking 10g of B5 take B-100, sometimes twice a day. Try search around here.. |

thanks pam_B for the reply. I dont plan on stopping anytime soon because this is the only thing that helps control my acne. I want to in the future. im still taking 8 grams a day and havent seen any signs of hair loss and my skin is not that dry. I think food has a lot to do with me breaking out.

Why get it in cap form? I'd say just buy it in powder form and mix it with water.
However people say it tastes like CRAP. US: http://www.1fast400.com/?products_id=928 Europe: http://www.bulkpowders.co.uk/product.php/240/0/vitamin_b_5 I think that's the cheapest form of B5 you'll find anywhere |
