I've heard emu oil helps but I've also heard the results are only temporary and that it can mess up your skin (more so while on accutane), does anyone know anything about this? Is there anything I can actually so while on Accutane to treat red marks and scars? or will I just have to wait until my course is over? sad.gif

So after a couple months and a whole summer of waiting to get accutane, I FINALLY get it. I haven't been this happy in ages, sad I know. I start tomorrow after I get my blood work done, the derm was nice enough to do it asap so I could start right away (she has a cool Scottish accent too x3), I'm glad I got her so I'll enjoy the monthly checkups. Sadly tomorrow is the first day of school too, I was hoping for at least a few days off while on accutane but whatever I guess, we only go for 3 days then get a 4 day long weekend! tongue.gif

I'm going into a hairstyling program so I'll be doing that all day at school (so glad I'm done with regular high school classes). It is kind of scary that I have to slap a smile on my face and act happy all the time though, I hope accutane doesn't turn me into a careless asshole... So anyways, let me give you a little introduction about my life with acne so you can understand me a little better. biggrin.gif

Introduction:

I first got acne about 2 weeks after grade 8 had began, it wasn't much to me back then but my mom made me go to the doctors to get something for it. The stuff that I got back then I HATED, it burned so much I couldn't bare it, but I had to. As time went by my acne only got worse and worse, but I was so shy and hated life that it didn't affect me all that much but my mom still continued to make me try new things. Then in grade 10 I started to hang around with these assholes that teased me back in grade 7 for my newfie accent (that I lose, thanks to the teasing) when I first moved here (I'm not sure if many of you guys know this buy most Canadians HATE Newfoundland, yet they're the nicest people you will ever meet). Anyways, stupid I know, but I didn't have many other friends. They would always tease me, especially about my acne... It really fucked with my mind and I still get upset thinking about it. But it really made me look at my face and get grossed out, I wanted to fix it badly. Around mid grade 11 I started wearing makeup to start covering it up (which worked for the most part) and some girl started to like me. But I had to tell her why, and from then on I started to become more open until I was completely open (if you don't know what I'm talking about then you must be slow xD). Once grade 11 ended my acne became 10x worse, and not only that, I cared a lot more about how I looked and I started to hate myself. Skipping ahead... I got into the wrong group, started doing drugs, failed the first semester completely, quit and ditched those friends, came into second semester with a fucked up mind set, having anxiety attacks in school over my acne to the point where I couldn't take it anymore and dropped out. A year (my supposed to be, last year) wasted because of my cursed acne. After I dropped out I started to fall apart and slept a lot and stayed in my room all the time. I stayed in my house for MONTHS, telling everyone I had a condition and they couldn't come see me. I also forgot to mention around the time I dropped out the doctor scheduled an appointment for the derm, but he said it would take up to 8 months... Around the end of june the derm said they could boost my appointment up to mid august! Until shortly after it was pushed to the end of august. So I waited and waited, near the end of summer I started to feel a little bit better, and I even went to play paintball with my cousin and some friends.

But yea... today was the day I got accutane! After trying everything and being miserable for so long I finally get to do this. I have a huge fear accutane wont work for me (knowing my luck) but it's my last resort. I'll try to add to the log each say but I can't guarantee it. And comments are always welcome! If you have any suggestions for any problems I may encounter, or even just a suggestion for anything really, please tell me.

I actually have a few questions already.
1. What do I use as a cleanser while on accutane? The derm recommended dove but I figured you guys would know something better.
2. This version of accutane is called 'Clarus', the doctor said it was accutane but why does the box say this?

And yea, I'm done for today! lol
See you guys tomorrow! (hopefully)

So I get accutane on Monday and right now I'm trying to find out as much as possible about it so that I'm prepared. I'm aware of the dry lips part but I always carry around lip chap anyways. I also have a few questions that I wanted to get a for sure answer to, if anyone knows please tell me.

Questions:
1. Is it okay to take biotin supplements while on accutane? I've never really taken them before but I've been wanting to since my hair has been drying out and becoming somewhat brittle, not to mention I've heard accutane can make the matter worse. (This may be a stupid question, but I'd like to know)
2. What is a the best moisturizer to use on my skin while on accutane? I wear concealer and foundation to cover my acne, but my skin usually gets really oily and that was my concern, but considering accutane dramatically reduces the oil production I'm thinking it will make my skin look dry and flaky.

I'll be asking the derm some questions such as these too but I'd like your guy's opinions too. Any other advice/recommendations about what I should do/use while on accutane would be greatly appreciated. smile.gif

My pores are huge and I hate it, it makes the texture or my skin look even more crappy let alone my acne...
Is there anything I can do to make them smaller? And once I go on on accutane will that change anything?

Does anyone have any suggestions to get rid of bad dark circles?
I know it has a lot to do with genes and stuff but I'm the only one in my family with dark circles like this. I find it (right after acne) to be the worst part face. I've tried various creams but nothing really seemed to help...

I start my Accutane in less than two weeks. I am looking forward to it in the same way you are... I really wish I didn't have to show up at work everyday! I hope you keep track of your progress. :-)
