I have noticed a problem in this forum and that is that there is very little reason to take anyone's advice seriously. No one knows who to trust. Everyone has different ideas about what leads to clear skin and what doesn't.
But what are these ideas founded on? Do they work in the real world? Do these ideas actually lead to clear skin? How can you tell who is bullshitting you and who is actually trying to help you? In the real world, there are people who have achieved clear skin using holistic methods and there are people who haven't. Those who haven't simply are not doing the right things, and those who have are. So doesn't it make sense to learn from those who have achieved clear skin? And specifically, to learn from those who have clear proof in pictures that their skin is either completely clear or almost completely clear? I think so and that is why I made this thread. This thread will be a compilation of people who have:
If you would like your pictures and your regimen to appear below, simply reply to this thread and I will add them. If you know of any other people who have posted their pictures and their regimen and they qualify, please reply with their info and I will add them too. Also if you are a user below and would like me to modify your information, just let me know. Thanks! (special thanks to NdnRomeo for this thread idea, this is a lot like his thread except you must have pictures to qualify for this one) And on to the people who have achieved very clear skin using holistic methods: Latest addition: User: DejaClaireVoyant Pictures and Regimen: http://www.acne.org/messageboard/Iand39m-1...er-t202660.html User: 1ycon Pictures and Regimen: http://www.acne.org/messageboard/Holistica...nc-t201270.html User: ambigram Pictures: http://www.acne.org/messageboard/forums.html... I think it's a pretty good idea.
Hopefully the list will continue to grow. I feel pictures are proof that the user is legitimate and puts some substance behind whatever method they are using. Holistically Clear skin for all!

This is a good idea, but I don't have any really good pictures of my skin at it's worst, or really any good pictures of it at it's best either. My skin is looking pretty damn good now, just a few small pimples, that would be hard to notice without a good camera. But I am going to get a camera to take good pictures with and maybe then show the pics in a few weeks. I did post my pictures before, but they were not really good before and after pics, and were not consistent time frames.

I will add some photos in 2-3 months when my skin is perfect!
EDIT: and I will be making the effort to get off my Retin-A gradually, and carefully list the things I believe that have made me clear.

And Healthoid, thanks to your thread showing your progress and diet, I have found a way to eliminate my acne (even by following a slightly different diet as far as meat consumption is concerned), and as soon as I have gathered my before and after pictures I will be sure to post them here. You have no idea how thankful I am for your contributions. |

Now you're making me blush too Glad I could help...yeah not everyone needs to (or should) eat as much meat as me...as far as my diet is concerned, the important part is the elimination of grains, dairy and legumes and the rest is really minor details.

Basically I used Accutane in my teens which cleared me pretty well for a year or so, but then the acne came back.

I hope that I can join this club in the very near future, as I am applying holisitic methods to clear a case of severe acne that has outlasted 2 Accutane trials, among many other medicinal approaches.
A question for the people who have found success in the holisitic approach: Do you take vitamin B supplements or Fish oil? Right now I am taking them both, in addition to a diet of no grains, no dairy (inspired by Healthoid) and was wondering if they could actually be negatively affecting my skin's condition. The B vitamins that I'm taking are a Wild Oats brand, Balanced B-50 caps that contain a number of different elements (Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, B6, Folic Acid, B12, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, etc...). Should I search out a more basic vitamin B supplement? And one more question: For those that follow a simple regimen, how do you wash your skin? I would love to ultimately just use (hot?) water, but right now I'm mixing it up with purpose soap and some Kiss My Face natural cleanser. Thanks for your help!!! |
