Hello to all,
I have been struggling with acne scars and treatments for well over 13 years??? I never knew there was such a support group out there. I think it's great that someone decided to do this. I have read through some of the messages and I can only say, I feel your pain!! I have tried everything from light lunch time peels, Microdermabrassion to Cool Laser treatments. I can say that over the years I have seen some improvement, but not as much as I would like. I have struggled with family and friends who DONT understand the pain that is associated with seeing yourself differently then everyone else because you happened to be unfortunate enough to inherit acne. I thought I knew every procedure out there until now. Tamara, I can say that I did see a impressive improvement in your pictures. Please keep updating us with photos. Good luck! I have never heard of the procedure you are going through until now. I have often wondered about collegen injections for the few deeper scars that I have, but that is quite expensive. I think for me, money is NO object if I could find something that really gave results and did not require massive pain and side effects. I have been wanting to try laser (C02), but I am not yet ready for that kind of pain. Please let me know if anyone out there has tried C02 laser and what your results were. Good luck to all and thanks to the person who started this forum. biggrin.gif

Ditto! Hey are you getting your photos taken in the same kind of light each time?

Thanks!
Regarding the lighting: I am standing in the exact same spot each day in my bathroom and attempting to have my face at the same angle, but the ambient light might vary a bit due to the fact that I have a window in there. But the window has got very thick curtains on it so it shouldn't affect the lighting that much.

As long as you are getting your photo at the same time, each day. Lighting makes a huge difference...

It looks like the bruising is kind of yellow/tanish. Is that what it really looks like?

LAET- It's not at exactly the same time each day, but some time in the afternoon when I get home from work. This wasn't meant to be scientific in any way, just sharing with you what I am really doing for myself.
Yes - the bruises are yellowish/tannish.

Don't mean to be rude but can you take some photos before you apply make up-like before work. If you have the time that is. On day 7-8 you do look good but i assume you took the shot after you got home from work. Those orangey marks are from the bandaids aren't they?

I wash my face after I get home and then I take the photos. That's the way I've done it and that's the way I plan on doing it. Orangey marks??? Don't know what you are talking about. Haven't worn bandaids since day 1. Sorry guys, gotta do this my way not yours.

Tamara,
I think you look fantastic! You're an inspiration to me. Many people are left in desperation in trying to find a cure or at least impove their acne scars and to be honest, your results by far are in the top percent (from all the photo's I've seen).
I've been coming to this board since October, but never really replied, but I do want to express to you, that there's a dramtic difference in your before and after photo's. I am so happy for you and I wish you continued success. smile.gif

Tamara,

I totally agree. I haven't been on this board for long... but I've already found comfort and inspiration from you and your willingness to share the courage of your experience. Thank you for that! Based on your continued positive results, I'm certain I will be searching for a competent dermatologist in my area for similar treatment. If I can see results similar to your's (thus far) I would be a very happy guy, indeed.

Please continue to post your results & please don't be disheartened by those people who respond critical of your make-up, lighting, or anything else. You're doing a GREAT job & there are plenty of people like me who sincerely appreciate it.

Take care & good luck!

Hey, if anyone is referring to me, I'm not meaning to be critical at all. I totally support what Tamara is doing and sharing for all of us. Sorry, if my comment about lighting came off the wrong way, I was asking out of curiousity. This whole subsicion thing is new for me....

Tamara,
We haven't heard from you in a couple of days! I hope you're doing well and your results are progressing each day! Please keep us updated on your progress. Since I've seen your photographs I've been inspired and actually feel there's hope. Your pictures show a tremendous difference and this is something I am considering. ((hugs))

Thanks to each of you for your comments and support. smile.gif

I updated the webpage w/a new photo yesterday. I'll most likely update every few days at this point unless there is something major to report.

I am glad to have given some people hope, but I caution everyone that it's still too early to know the results of the procedure. There might not be as much improvement as we are all hoping for. Also, subcision may not be the right solution for everyone. Make sure that you see a Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon who comes highly recommended and/or who you trust. The Dermatologist I saw was recommended to me by a reputable Plastic Surgeon.

Thanks again for all of your well-wishes! This is a great place. biggrin.gif

I have a relative that did dermabrasion and it was a disaster so no on that one.
I have had co2 laser done once and saw decent results but I don't want to pay 3 grand again and have 2 weeks of downtime with no pay so no to that one as well.

tamara,
what type of environment do you work in. I work in an office / corporate environment and I am dreading explaining why it looks like I got beat down and have bruises on my face after my subcision. What do you tell your co-workers?

I am very self-concious about my scars and I am telling people I'm taking 4 days off for "family" stuff instead of the truth. Only people that know the truth are my girlfriend and my mom, not even my best friends
