I feel philosophical tonight...

18 y/o male. Moderate acne for a year and a half. Last semester in high school.

It is funny how a few pimples that show up on your face have the potential to change your whole life. You know you weren't completely happy before you had acne, but you also know that you'd be happier right now if you didn't have acne. You know that some people stare at your face with a fair amount of disgust, some with empathy. You know that even if a girl liked you and you her, you'd never talk to her. The only viable option is porn, for porn stars can't see your face.

On the other hand, you know that this condition is -most probably- temporary. But you can't ignore the "urgency of the moment", you just can't completely ignore it and live as if it doesn't exist. There are other things that need to be done. You have to resist the temptation of trying that new cream, or ingesting that pill of antibiotic. "I've lived without this shit my whole life," you say to yourself. "Why do I need it now?"

It is extremely hard to ignore acne and immerse yourself in the reality of the present. But you have to do it, because if you didn't, you'll blame acne for the loss of your future. You want a better scapegoat for that, like a catastrophic event or an alien invasion resulting in the complete destruction of your school.

The barbell calls my name. Off to the gym for some squats.

Every Dog

I try to make all of my posts on these boards positive, but sometimes... this shit just gets to me.

I thought I was clearing up, seeing as no new pimples appeared on my face for the past 2 weeks or so.

Yesterday I awoke to 5 chunky papules. 2 on each cheek and 1 just off the middle of my nose. In 24 hours, they had all turned into big pustules. And every single one of them is inflamed and painful, every single one.

I'm off to try some new BP cream. I hope this shit doesn't affect my concentration, I got exams coming up in a week.

Acne Diary of an Insane Kid

I originally wanted to use Dan's regimen, but my lack of patience and resources got in the way. Last Friday, I went to the local pharmacy and bought a 140ml tube of 5% benzoyl peroxide (Clean and Clear Continuous Control) for $10 CAD. Pretty good deal, almost the same price as Dan's BP. I decided to use a generic high-quality body moisturizer instead of the facial variety, because they both have the same ingredients. I am going to be cleansing with regular hand soap, because it doesn't irritate my skin. I will be washing my face twice a day for the next 2 months.

Friday evening (first application): felt pretty good.

Saturday: not too bad. no new pimples, surprisingly.

Sunday: skin becoming more and more dry. some discomfort.

Monday morning: skin very dry and irritated, especially around mouth. had to skip the morning application due to a shortage of time. WARNING: do not apply BP anywhere close to the are under your eyes or your lips. it causes a LOT of irritation and redness.

Right now: just washed my face. moderate irritation. about to go to sleep. Very tired.
