Smoothbeam absolutely SUCKS! Don't get your hopes up. This laser is what clearasil is to pimples, it absolutely does nothing! Retin-a flattens your scars way more than smoothbeam. Save your money people even if youre getting a deal it ain't worth it. cool.gif

I agree. It did nothing for my active acne or depressed scarring, even after 10 treatements. I lost so much money several years back when I had this done.

how old were you when you had it done? i've heard the older you are the harder it is to get results or the results YOU'RE looking for but I may be wrong, im 22 years old...smoothbeam will only work on mild acne. I had a little zit on my chin which he zapped and it went down the next day. to be honest just after one treatment I think im starting to see some results. scars are starting to look more even and are blending in. I can't wait for my 2nd treatment, anxious to see how much my face improves.

you're right about the microswelling though, my mother just told me today that my face looks more puffier, I plan on getting 6 treatments by the way.

I was 20 when I had it done and threw my money away. Age has nothing to do with it. TRUST ME! You have microswelling right now.

I asked the derm before the first treatment "whats your success rate with smoothbeam" and he told me about 90%...yeah im sure they'll say anything to take your money. they took pics for before and after shots as well but now you have me thinking lol. I really don't have the money to be wasting if in fact smoothbeam does nothing. my next appointment is august 18th, now im wondering if I should still go through with it...

That's Great !!

Dr. Del Campo seems to be a great doctor and his staff (Anna) is very nice and understanding when it comes to answering questions. The office is in a good nieghborhood as well -- I had pre-treatment nightmares of pulling up to some crazy shack in the ghetto -- but that's not the case.

Good Luck and feel free to ask me any questions regarding smoothbeam w/ Dr. Del Campo !!

Hi fromchicago,

Glad to hear that smoothbeam worked for you. I have a question, do you see any marks or lines on your face due to use of laser on your skin?

Thanks!

Hi all,
I just wanted to share my little story with different lasers since I'm new to this site, and trying to find a better solution. I never had any acne when I was a teenager, it all started to develop around the age of 21, when I came to Florida; I guess the humidity didn't work wonders for my face. About 2 years later I developed something called a bacterial flocculates, which I don't really know what that is, but it definitely looks like acne scars afterwards. I come originally from Europe, so I have very fair skin, and scars mostly on my nose and forehead, since I have the T-zone or combination skin as they call it.
I did a series of 6 microdermabrasions, which did nothing - $600. About a year later I started with smoothbeam, about 2 treatments, and recommendation that I should switch to a laser peal, which is of course more expensive. I wasted another $1,500. Than the doctor wanted me to start on Fraxel laser - which I needed couple of treatments and I said stop. I'm not wasting my money again.
I'm doing my research online and went for couple of consultations with different doctors. Currently I had 4 consultations so far, and still not sure which treatment to go with. The options are classic CO2 - 2-3 weeks downtime and possible scaring and hyper pigmentation - - $3800. Acnefx laser combination with 3 fraxel - total of 4 treatments - $3300. CO2 only on my nose and forehead - $1600, but I'm afraid that the color of my nose will be different from the rest of my face. And today I went to another one and got recommended the erbium laser - 4 treatments - $3000.
I still don't know which option to go with, but would definitely consider the smoothbeam, since it didn't do anything, and I just wasted my money. If anybody have more experience, or have anything done, please let me know.

Hi chi-town37,

I know it's been a while since you posted on this forum but hopefully you'll get this. I'm actually going to the same doctor in the same location (lakeview Derm). I'm having my first smoothbeam next week and I just wanted to know how it worked for you.

Thanks

I tried two fraxel treatments for some acne depressed scars on my chest but I didn't see any results. Anyone who's had any success with another laser? Thanks!
