I understand you guys work really hard to keep this site running, and we appreciate, but here is a suggestion I'm sure thousands want - a mobile/iPhone version of the site...or even better an App Store app for Acne.org.

It should be without the daily vid tab (which takes up 1/2 of my screen as it follows my scroll and it doesn't hide behind the page). It should be totally flash-free and only have a thumbnail for vids, but unlike the daily vid one where it is a fixed size, scrolls with you, and takes up so much space.

Hello everyone. We have all heard ow great Vitamin C is - its an anti-oxidant, it has anti-aging properties and it stimulates collagen production giving skin a renewed look after time.

What I want to know is will I see more of these effects, or will I see them at all if I apply Vitamin C topically?

I have Vitamin C tablets, so what if I crush them up and dissolve them in water or honey or something and apply it on my skin for around 20 minutes - like a mask.

Any opinions or suggestions?

Hey all surprised.gif . Male, 16 here. Of Indian descent, so my complexion is a bit different from you all. An I don't have the slightest bit of an Indian accent (cuz I'm a Trinidadian boogie.gif ), for thouse of you whose brains would substitute an Indian dude with a funny acccent narrating the following lol.gif :

Routine:
So as soon as I wake up in the morning, I look at my face in the bathroom mirror. Then I use the washroom to urinate (like 15 seconds tops) and then look at my face again (in the same mirror; same lighting) when I wash my hands.

Observations:
The first look - My skin is lighter in colour, and has an even, firm skin tone. My scars, which are brown (not red) areas of hyper-pigmentation on my forehead, cheeks and chin, are barely visible.

My skin is oily though, because I just woke-up and I use Vitamin E oil whenever I observe this (I never really remember when I don't :S . I don't know why tongue.gif ).

Conclusion - my skin is beautiful, considering I have scars and active acne. I wish it can stay like that all day.

The second look - So 15 seconds later, my skin looks a little more oily; a little darker, and scars are more visible. More wrinkles are also present.

Any idea why? How does this happen? And is there any way I can keep the great look of my skin when I now wake up?

Yesterday I was reading the ingredients on a bottle of Calamine lotion and was surprised to find out that Zinc Oxide was one of them.

All ingredients are non-comedogenic and non-irritating (all had a score of 1 or less, which is great!) except for two which were not listed (they are in orange). I used these sites to determine if the ingredients were safe -
http://www.dermaxime.com/acne-comedogenic-ingredients.htm
and
http://www.zerozits.com/Articles/acnedetect.htm#inglist

But the sites did say that if an ingredient is not listed, then it is safe to use on acne-prone skin. The ingredients are as follows:

MEDICINAL INGREDIENTS: Calamine 76mg/ml, Zinc Oxide 76 mg/ml.

NON-MEDICINAL INGREDIENTS: Purified Water, Glycerin, Bentonite, Calcium Hydroxide, Methyl P-Hydroxy benzoate.

Well for you all who don't know, Zinc Oxide (ZnO) is the active ingredient in a couple of sunscreens, including the one that Dan uses - http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?...e=10&subid= .

But the concentration of ZnO in the sunscreen is 3%; the concentration of ZnO in Calamine lotion is 7.5%!!! (10mg/ml = 1%). Also the compound Calamine is composed partially of Zinc.

So my question is can I mix/is it safe to mix a little Calamine lotion in my moisturizer to make it a sunscreen? I know that it may be a little white depending on the ratio of moisturizer to Calamine lotion, but I've yet to find that out.

Also the Calamine lotion will help soothe irritated skin, even if it's broken or chapped!

And finally (I just noticed this after glancing at the ingredients one more time), the last ingredient on the list - Methyl P-Hydroxy benzoate, has benzoate in it, which a derivative of benzoic acid, and similar in its shemical structure to benzoyl peroxide!!!

Hey ppl. biggrin.gif wavey.gif

So I continuously read about the beneficial effects of ACV topically (and orally, but I am not addressing that) on acne. I know that one of the things that is does is help to maintain a slightly acidic pH of the skin mantle, so that it operates more efficiently in...well I'm not getting into details but I understand most of it.

But I don't have ACV at home and my mom won't buy it. Can I use normal household, white (and I think it's also called distilled) vinegar instead?

I know that it will provide the acidity, but is it more harsh? Are there benefits that ACV gives that white vinegar does not? Should I even use white vinegar on my skin? Are there more impurities in white vinegar than ACV?

You get the idea...can I use white vinegar instead?

------------------
For those of you who don't know, ACV = Apple Cider Vinegar.
And my white vinegar is the normal 5% concentration of acetic acid.
