Have you ever done the following because of your acne:
- Turned down a date - Avoid talking to people - Turn the other way when someone looks at you - Avoid looking in the mirror because you're disgusted with what is looking back at you These are just a few examples of how acne takes control of my life. I feel helpless. I am 29 years old and I feel way too old for this! At the moment, my skin is actually looking better, but I just have this cluster of pimples on my chin that has been there for over a week. It's like 5 zits combined into one. It is hidious to look at. Whenever someone talks to me, I swear all they're looking at is my nasty zit. If that enormous thing would just go away, I would feel so much more confident. I have a big Halloween party to go to on Saturday, and I know it's going to bring me down. Well, there's my sob story....just had to vent.

Have any of you ladies experienced breakouts since starting a specific type of birth control? I've had mild/moderate acne since I was about 12. I am now 29 and have noticed that my acne has gotten worse since starting the Depo-Provera injection.
The reason why I wanted this injection (besides the obvious) was because I was told that, in most cases, women stop having their period. I understood that one of the side effects was acne, but I knew a lot of women who were on this injection and never had a problem with acne. So I just crossed my fingers. But, unfortunately, after a few months of my first injection, my acne did in fact get worse. The PRO side of Depo is that I no longer have a period, which I LOVE because I used to have heavy periods which lasted forever and had horrible cramps. But the CON is that I now have more breakouts than normal and it is driving me mad! I am way too old for this! I guess I really can't have my cake and eat it too, huh? |
