okay.. so heres the deal.
ive been getting cystic acne on my forehead for months now, and i've had one next to my eye since november. it feels hard. ive got another one a little smaller next to my other eye now, and yet ANOTHER cyst above my left eyebrow. they mess up my profile entirely, and it sucks. so my doc put me on accutane... these cysts are now very hard and i'm not sure whether accutane will get rid of them. Has anyone else experienced this and went on accutane because of it? If so, did the cysts go away? Did they leave scars? How long did it take for them to go away?
Thanks for listening!!

Hi, I just recently stumbled upon this very informative site...
Anyways, I have what I think is a large red cyst on my nose. I've had it for about a week now....it started out pretty large the first 3 or 4 days and since then it had reduced *slightly*. I mean, its still pretty large and noticable. I've had problems with cysts before, but usually just on my cheeks and some on my forehead once in awhile, but never any on my nose, and never any this large. I have many scars and a pretty depressive state of mind. Anyways, I've been reading about these cortizone shots from dermatologists to reduce them quickly and prevent scarring. My question is, can it be too late to get the shot for the cyst? Again, I've had this thing for about 9 days, the first 4 days there was a noticeable feeling of a little ball inside of it at the touch, but now it doesnt feel like a little ball in there anymore but theres still definitely some liquid in it. Another question, I don't have any medical coverage at the moment. Does anybody have any idea how much it would be to get this shot without a medical plan? Is it even possible?
Any help/feedback would be awesome.
Thanks all!

I have to say this. Dermatologists would disagree, and t here is a risk of skin cancer. But in all my years of bad acne on my back and chest, the o nly thing that cleared it up was the salt water in the ocean and the sun! It worked like a miracle, and that's not lie! It cleared up the cystic acne on my chest, back and face. Fortunately, my face was nowhere as severe as my back and chest. Take this for what it's worth. I'm telling you, the improvement was like 85 to 90%!
Do NOT GO IN THE SUN if you're USING ANY MEDICATION, PLEASE! i SHOULD HAVE SAID THAT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE POST.

I though I should share this with everyone who is suffering from cystic acne as I was. I had 2 or 3 cysts at a time and the second one went away another one came back. My doctor perscribed somthing that really messed up my skin... made it all dry and didn't help the cyst at all! I gave up on it and decided to search for the answer. I found that if you put egg whites on your face with lemon juice it really works! It took I believe about 1- 2 weeks to take effect maybe faster.. I can't exactly remember.
Instructions1 Get one egg and crack it make sure you only get the egg whites out!
Egg whites are the clear liquid inside the egg so anything that white or yellow do not include in the bowl. If anything else besides the egg whites are in the bowl do your best trying to et it out or start over.
2 Get papertowel and a timer if you can't keep track of time (like me)
3 Apply the egg whites to your face with the paper towel. * Make sure you fold the paper towel first and dip it into the egg whites *
4 Set the timer or time it for 15 minutes and after 15 minutes rinse the egg off. You'll notice your skin gets tighter when you have the egg on your face. Don't worry it's normal and sometimes it is quite hard to talk

untill you get the eggwhites off.
5 Get lemon juice from any store (i mean lemon juice thats in a container not for you to squeeze the juices out of a lemon...)
6 Apply the lemon juice strait to your face. It might burn or it might not it depends and if it does burn it doesn't really hurt at all.
You can store the extra egg white in your fridge so you dont have to waist an egg everytime. I would like to hear if this helps you or not or if you have any questions just post!
7 (this step is optionaly but highly recommended) Every 2 or 3 days you should exfoliate your skin. Only every 2 or 3 days.. DONT exfoliate your skin everyday it will cause your skin to produce more oils and therefore you'll hae more acne. This helps prevent anymore acne. I forgot to do that this week and I endup gettin more white heads..

To exfoliate your skin you could use an exfoliant or the following:
Mix baking soda with lemon juice to make a paste. Wet your face first! Then apply it to your face and rub in for 15 - 20 seconds then wash off. It might start to sting if you don't fully wash it off I did that by mistake once.. ouch. Only do sections of your skin at a time dont leave it on in one area then go to the next area wash it off first!
NOTE: This will probably burn if your using it in dry skin areas ( mostly the cheeks ) but I highly recomend you do use it. You can use it before the egg whites or after it doesn't matter. I usually use it before and sometimes i use it after.
If your wondering what the eggwhites do they have protien in them which helps rebuild your face. Your face will feel alot firmer and better after daily use of eggwhites. It also soaks up oil so its great for oily skin. I always had a problem keeping the oil off of my face for longer than and hour at least and eggwhites keep oil of your face for quite some time.
The lemon juice helps get red of redness. After a few uses it really does work. I still have red marks on my face its true but they werre alot worse before.
I'm currently experimemnting with mixing the eggwhites and lemon juice together so about in a week i'll let you know if it works aswell.
You should do this everymorning and every night. If you can't do it in the morning definatly do it at night!
Hope this helped!
Goodluck!

Hello I am 15 and female, and recently I've started getting really big cysts on the same area of my chin, the right side of my nose and on my right cheek. It's badly affecting my confidence and I find it difficult to leave the house on days when I'm having a flare-up.
I never actually knew what these were untill today, where my face hurt so badly I needed to look some information up on the internet.
I'm going to see my GP on monday, and hopefully a Dermatologist at the hospital next week.
What I'd like to know is, do they ever go away, or will I continue to get them for years?
Appreciate any advice xx

I've had this cyst under my skin for at least a month now, it isnt inflamed or red and its not painful but I feel the bump under my skin. I havent picked at it or anything but sometimes just like this afternoon the little black spot on the top (opening) randomly starts secreting the pus or sebum or whatever is inside( clear liquid ). Should I apply pressure to squeeze this thing out or just wipe off the clear liquid that came out and leave it alone ? Also is there anyway to clear up the left over black mark from a previous cyst left on my other cheek ?

Scars are ugly, especially when they have been around for decades. Doctors say nothing really covers them. I've tried DermaBlend and several others, but they don't cover up the scars.
Anyone have any suggestions for face make-up that actually works?

well, i havent been around here for ages now....i was wondering if you guys could help me out with something. See the thing is that like about two months ago i use to get these horrible cysts that would take whole months to get rid of and now i have been using cetaphil cleanser on my face for the past two months and i have seen a HUGE improvement .....i no longer get cysts, nor postules i only have a lot of tny bumps and white heads here and there, but honestly i that is nothing compared to what i use to wake up with...before there wouldnt be a day go by with out getting at least 8 to 15 new pimples and cysts daily, honelty i coulnt bare it......now i only get one or two small white heads and thats just during my period.....anywho, my problem now is that i have seen such good improvement that i am having to think twice if i want to go through taking tane....my acne is hormonal and i also have acne on my body and i know that wont just go away by itself....so i am wondering if i should just go ahead and take accutane and stop wasting time or i should just stick with what i am doing right now, but what if thats all that cetaphil can do to my skin....just make my severe cystic acne to a moderate acne....am i wasting time or should i just go through with it.....honestly guys i would appreciate any kind of advice and or comments....thanks a bunch!!

I know I've asked this before, but I have a few spots on my face that have been there for forever. They periodically break out. I got a cortisone shot to get rid of one of them. Well, it's finally gone but I had a huge dent/hole in my face for months. Has this happened to anyone else? What should I do!? I've had two of these for almost two years. They aren't that noticeable when they're in remission, but I want them gone for good. Thanks!

Crap.... so last night I decided to speed up the drying process of my zit (im not sure if it was a cyst or not...it came from beneith my skin as a rising mountain yet doesn't have a ridiculously huge diameter..though its definitely large compared to my average) by dabbing it with a little witch hazel before I slapped on the BP. I think i may have overdone it, its pretty reddish/purple today....covering this baby up is not going to be easy.
Anyone else experience this? Should I slap on some polysporin or just stick to what im doing, or just leave it alone and not put anything on it? Its flattened and starting to try and go away and I dont want to make it mad!!!

Ok, so as some of you may know I had what I thought was a cyst coming on but now I am not so sure.
I had a red mark from a previous bad cyst that was just beginning to fade some 5 months later when I felt that familiar pain of the beginning of a cyst. so I iced it daily, globbed BP on it and have been taking Ibuprofen for the past week and a half. The result, I still have this slightly raised bump but it does not appear to be red, just the red mark from the previous cyst. It is also not painful anymore and I can't really feel any
pain when I squint, which I could before. There is absolutely no sign of a head or anything like that.
It has been idle like this for the past week or so and does not seem to be going down. What should I do? Will it go down eventually? I don't think it is getting any worse as it has been in this state for almost 2 weeks now.
I called to have a derm look at it and got the "you need a referral" speech, so am going to my doc for a referral to this derm later this week.
Any thoughts? I can see it because it raises the red mark and just want it to flatten out so I can continue treating the red mark.

Does anyone notice, if they dont shave, then they dont get as many cysts on the neck, if any at all, i'm thinking about shaving with my head razer and having a dry shave, to see if that helps from whatever the wet shave does to my acne, to make it worse.

Hello, I'm new here. I'm 43 yrs. old and have had acne since I was 12. The last few years I have gotten very large, painful cysts. I'm on minocycline which I think has helped, but not 100%. It has also caused yeast infection issues which I'm not thrilled about.
I have never had a cortizone shot. Can someone tell me how painful it is? I can't imagine a needle going into a cyst and not hurting.
Also, I've read about a drug called aldactane (spell?). It is supposed to help with a hormonal imbalance that causes too much oil - which I'm sure I have. One hour after cleansing, my skin is coated with oil. I'm thinking of asking my dermatologist about it next visit.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi there,
Yesterday i had a small (2mm) milia cyst incised (?) by my doctor i.e she just made a tiny cut along the surface and popped out the inside. As it was only a tiny cut, no stitches were required. It is looking pretty good today and is starting to scab. Just wondering whether anyone has any hints or tips as to how i could speed up the healing process with this. Also, its a bit red and wanting to reduce this too. Thanks so much for any help!

I have started using BP as I as I had to finish my 'tane course early because of health problems and also have had to come off dianette
Anyway I have always just had cystic body acne, only on my chest, i since realised I would have had mild acne elsewhere if i hadn't been on dianette since i was 14. I have been getting crap all on my face now too.
So anyway BP is doing good its flattening most of the cysts out, like all the cysts I have a really hard and some have been there close on a year (no joke) anyway like before it goes flat is like pusses up and hurts and is really gross and swollen, is this normal? lol i'm such a noob at this whole BP thing.

What's the fastest way you get rid of a cyst? What works well for me is using Proactiv Mask or QH Mask for spot treatment and leaving it on cysts and other spots for a couple hours or overnight, then washing it off. With this method, I can get a cyst to come to a head in a matter of days to one week, whereas it would stick around for 2-4 weeks otherwise. I'm using AHA's nightly as well.

I used to have cystic acne all over my face. I went to my derm and he perscribed tetracycline, after a few months it all went away. After I stopped taking it, some pimples came back, but nothing to fret over. Recently I've been getting pimples on the back of my head, but I'm more concerned about the cysts. When they form within hair, the hair that the cysts occupy falls out and there is a flesh-colored bald spot there. I've had these before, and after a very long time the cysts go away and the hair comes back, but this time the cysts are staying around for a lot longer. They can become large, and somewhat painful. It is difficult not to irritate them, since I sleep on my back and the back of my head hits the pillow, so naturally there is pressure put on the cysts. It gets really annoying when people tell me I have a bald spot on the back of my head, or that my barber messed up my haircut. My derm perscribed monocycline, but it doesn't seem like its doing anything, since a new bald spot has appeared since i started the treatment. Has anybody had this problem, or have any ideas?

Been on the regimen for about 4 weeks. I have mild to moderate acne, not too bad but when I
breakout, I break out with BIG, painful zits.
Things were going pretty good, then all of sudden this week I have had a few spots come up
which I am not too concerned about, I mean they will eventually go, but what I am SO WORRIED about
is that I feel a cyst, painful type pimple forming on my cheek, right on top of a scar/hyperpigmentation mark that I have had from a previous cyst back in the summer. It was just starting to fade almost 6 months later as I made a BIG mistake by popping it last summer and it bled like an actual cut on my face.
My question, I can feel this new one coming in pretty much the same place, this is so bad...what can I do to
stop it? It has been about 2 days and it is not breaking through yet and not too swollen or red. I have been dumping a lot of BP on it twice nightly.
Should I keep dumping loads of BP on it?
Is there anything else that will help or stop it from worsening? I have read cortisone creams and a warm compress may help?
I am NOT going to pop it, no way, I learned my lesson. But is it inevitable that it will eventually come to a head and break open, thus leaving a scar? Or if I do not touch it and do not pop it, will it just eventually fade away and leave me scar free?
Sorry for all the questions, I am in a real panick

I don't want a scar on top of an existing scar/hyperpigmentation mark - it willl look so bad.
Thanks for all opinions.

Hi, I've got terrible acne on my face. I either get many small spots and at least 1 cyst one, or i get no small spots and 1 or 2 cysts, though the bad thing is that some of my cyst spots are SO bad I can see up to 3 whiteheads under the skin, or at worse 3 whiteheads already developed!! And to top it of I have this "symetrical" acne, which means 1 huge bastard cyst will appear on the right side of my face, then once that's died down it will appear exactly on the same place on the other side!! And at the moment, i cannot find a link to why I get them, as even if i don't change my daily lifestyle and don't get acne for a week, pretty soon a huge cyst will start forming.
My question is does anyone else get these 3 in 1 spots, and how do I get rid of them successfully, as my attempts have worsened them and they grow back quicker, bigger and badder and leave the surronding area extremely red/purple for days. is there a way i can pop them without them becoming reinfected and becoming bigger, or making more whiteheads within the cyst? certainly an eyesore and it's effecting my work, as I've skipped school to avoid uneccesary... attention.
i use that superdrug's Tea Tree facial wash (which is green) and also the version for sensitive skin (cream colour) one after the other (non-sensitive one first), without fail every morning and evening, though it seemed to work when i first used it, it certainly isn't now. What am I doing wrong, and does anyone know much more superior products that actually do work?
Thanks.

i think i have another nodule on my nose. i'm not sure. right now, it's about 0.75 cm in diameter. it's a red bump.
it's not as hard, but it's slightly tender. i'm pretty sure it's a nodule... anyone have suggestions?
also, does nixoderm with 6% Benzoic Acid, 2.5% Salicylic Acid, and 4.6% Precipitated Sulphur have a positive affect on my bump (nodule)? will it at least reduce the swelling?
