well im gona keep elidel aside for a while.
fluconazole was prescribed to me by some other derm i guess il give this a try no harm in tryin it coz no major side effects to my face.
my face presently is dry, scaly and lil pinkish-red on my cheeks and my nose stays dry during the day, in the evenings its oily and it stays pinkish-red the whole day...
hey can u tell me wht is tht white stuff on my nose its visible after showers and fade away in 15-20 mins ( http://www.acne.org/messageboard/forums.html...i )
does cutivate help reduce redness???
and 1 more thing there are few painful red bumps under my nose skin wat is it ive never had this before.
im using 100% aloe vera gel every night wat do u think are there any side effects if i use it every night does it makes ur skin sensitive if u use it every day if yes then should i reduce it to alternate days.

it just looks like dry dead skin in your nose, ppl who have sd (when not under total cnotorl) the skin sheds very frequently.Cutivate or elidel should clear it easily.

The bumps are prob just acne.As for oilyness i would recommend oc8 ,this is just an amzing product to control oil, atleast for me but now that you have sd in not total control i would say dont use it.

Aloe vera should be safe but sometimes it can irrtate ppl with sd so id say just dont use anything on your face besides what your doc has given you.But from your picture-cutivate should clear it within 3-7 days and then just to make sure it doesnt come back u can use elidel but i think u dnot wanna use it now so just go with what the doc instructs you to do,if you try and experiment with other things you may end up in even bigger probs ,im speaking thru exp so just be careful and patient.

'doc', im in this situation today all because of a doc, i used to follow her prescriptions religously if she used to tell me do soo many sessions of glycolic peels and microderm i jus used to go for it never even used to think for min, she let me down, she broke my trust on her, sooo now im in such a situation tht i dnt trust any derm ive been to top best derms out here yet i have a doubt.
well for now i think aloe gel is doin the thing i started this on my own none of the derms have told me.

hey what is ur seb derm exactly like? I sorta get these flakes at time, and my skin is extremely sensitive and tight. sometimes I get these little flakes all over my cheeks that do either seem they are a clogged pore coming to the surface. My skin is also very oily. Please give me a better idea of what seb derm is EXACTLY like.

dont be so scared,Sd is one of the easiest things to control. If you look around and research on Sd the proper treatment is 5-7 days steroid and then topical immunomodulator for 2weeks to a month (this is for ppl who have re-occuring and your case seems kind of mild to moderate) that is if you have a flare up.

Looking at your pic you look like you have a bit of problem with the nose and around the lips maybe,i guarantee you if you use cutivate for 3-4 days you will be amazed on how you will look you wont have even the slightest bit of flaw as far as sd is concerned, the prob is it comes back for some ppl so for those they give elidel or protopic.

Seriously you dont need to do anything but use flutivate and elidel ,infact just using flutivate for 3-5 days you will see how amazing it is but i can und you're a bit scared with wt happened,i used to trust a doc blindly myself and i ended up making my face worse so i know how it feels like but dont worry. What your doc gave you for acne was rite unluckily you had a reaction to it and then also they found out you have sd.

I had only 3-4 flare ups in my whole life and i get them once in 2-4 years. But i always have very mild Sd and inflammation when im not using any Sd med- very marginal it doesnt bother me and infact its not even visible unless seen with a zooming mirror.I just recently had a bad flare up due to my own mistakes i was in direct sun playing sports for 3-4 hrs re-apllying sun block every hr (big mistake) and having the most horrible diet for the past 6 months. But everything is under control i took cutivate and protopic,my face doesnt have a millim. of flakes nor redness.

I think you should also look to detox your body ,check on pure plan in the net i found this quite helpful ,its a 10 days program with herbs in liquid form you have to mix it with water and drink it,you should do it about 3 times a year.Oc8 you should be able to get in any pharmacy now,its one of the best oil controlling products -doc are prescribing to everyone these days.

Also are you using any kind of cleanser?usually docs prescribe Bp and other harsh cleansing products which can seriously irriate your skin.I would suggest either cetaphil even thu some ppl get reaction from this also but its vey mild or my personal fav is betadine skin & scalp cleanser, its antiseptic and kills bacteria fungus in 15-30 seconds nor does it exfoliate or irrtate unless you have alerrgy to iodine ,you can check that out and may also ask your doc about it.Its one of the oldest cleansers used for skin/seborrheic problems.

no actually it has really helped, and im not saying dig into your skin w/ the blade seb derm, it's just a way to manually exfoliate. Yea, but it helped reduce 85% of the redness on my skin and I don't get the White dead skin cell build up anymore. You are still going to get the flakes until you find a way to exfoliate and I recommend not using chemicals for that.

We have the same thing going on bro, I just got elidel from my derm yesterday aswell.. I have been on a steroid fungus cream called Daktakort for 2-3 weeks now and I've stopped flaking all together, even though I'm on Accutane aswell.

My flakes are totally gone but my redness is still there, trying to work that out.

DaktaCort is very mild but good to hear it helped you.V Mild steroid mixed with antifungals never helped me and they take way to long to clear-plus there is a huge chance of re-occurence but hope everything goes well with you.I hope your doc knows you are taking accutane,it sounds a bit weird taking all this together with accutane there might be some interacting- while your're on accutane you are bound to be red and flaking, accutane has retin a and will make you sensitive. Please do your research on elidel its a controv. med and talk to your doc about it. Good luck with everything.

The same derm that prescribed me Accutane and Elidel. The elidel stings a little but other than that it has no visual negative effect.

But as far as the Daktakort goes it stopped my severe flaking, I'm still very dry and a little flaky but I'm pretty sure that's just because of the accutane.

And for detoxing my body i do take some powder which doc prescribed me its called fybogel flakes i jus mix 1 tsp. in a glass of water and drink it, actually it tastes like orange juice.

Seb Derm-

if you feel that it is helping you then i dont think you need to use other med but the treament you are doing has a v good chance of re-occurance.Unless you control your Sd totally you will always have some kinda of excess peeling. But you can try this and see for some more time and then decide i guess.I used some aloe vera in the past which made my face worse but it happens rarely as far as ive heard.

Any kind of eczema/Sd related inflammation/redness can not only be controlled but totally be eliminted by topical steroids till the time u r using it so if redness is a concern then you may wanna try it if it really bothers you but then ull have to stop aloe vera etc to be on the safe side.

As long as you are detoxing its all good hope everything gets better.

Wantobefree-

I just wanted to let you know a bit about elidel. Its a topicalimmunosuppresent.

What it does in simple terms is calm down your immune system from over-reacting to certain triggers and trying to help it as soon as possible and in that process you have inflammaition etc.

Now what this does is when you supress the immune system there are other viruses, bacterias etc which our immunse system are strong at fightinng are left open to attack ,so when you apply this specially for a long time you are risking things like chicken pox ,herpes and skin cancer (and now this is a big concern as it has been a big debate and few deaths have happened while taking elidel/protopic,the fda black box has come and maybe it may totally go off market).
So if you already have a weak immune system you should diff not take it.So i just find it strange that accutane and elidel is prescribed together -in theory doesnt sound like a good mix.But your doc knows best, just ask him or her about it though to be on the safe side.

If you want to know a bit about immunse system and skin here's a nice read

I think my redness comes from seborrhea, it wasn't caused by accutane and certainly not daktacort if that was your question.

But if your question was which of these products helped me get lose the redness then I would say both. Accutane reduced my redness a lot but I still had all the flakes and shit, and then daktacort removed all the flakes which made my skin a bit better aswell I think.

But I'm not totally better, but it looks like I will get rid of the redness eventually.

Ihsahn: Thanks for the info, I will keep it in mind. I won't use it long term, I'm just going to go through one tube and see if it helps. Eventually it's effects will wear of right? It wont lower my faces immune system defenses permanently does it?

No its only the places you apply. So when stopped i doubt it,but im not sure about this. There have been ppl who have used it for a year and had liver problems now i dont dont know if there is any link to it. Im applying protopic myself which is similar to elidel and will stop in a week as im totally clear from a bad flare up recently.

The thing is when using accutane you are naturally going to peel plus the oil reduction will also help SD i suppose,so mixing it sounds weird & the worst part is accutane will make u senstive so going in the sun while applying elidel will make it even more suspectable to cancer- but as i said doc usually knows best, just try and have a word with him or her though. You can research alot about elidel and its risks in google to.

here is a site where many ppl have sued protpic /elidel comapnies and users tell their cancer stories in video - if interested you can have a look. www.protopiclawyers.com

Damn, that really sucks.. But the thing is I live in Iceland and I'm not in any contact with the sun anyway.

I will start tanning 6 months after I quit the elidel, I'm guessing then it's effects should be gone.

But anywho, whether it's the elidel or accutane, something is working and my redness has reduced drastically eusa_dance.gif

even if you dont go in the sun supressing the immune system may help tumors form and spread but usually cancer takes long time to frm so if you use it as a short term treatmen then its fine.Im using it myself.Usually they give elidel as a second line treatment when nothing has worked or for maintance from bad recent flare up.

The prob here is alot of doc still swear on the med that nothing happens and prescirbe their patient like an ordinary med while there have been many incidents where ppl have gone ill after using this on long term even though its low in numb but there is a possibility. If youve seen the link in protopiclawyers.com there is a video they explain how supressnig the immune ystem was first in oral form for organ transplants and they used it as a last option cause it had a high cancer risk.

Im sure elidel is getting rid of your redness ,judging by so many ppls complain here accutane has made them more red .Thats wt i fnd strange cause elidel will get rid of your redness wihle on the other hand accutane will make u peel and senstive so its clashing with each other. But good luck hopefully everything will work out great.

hi seb derm

i had a really bad case of SD. my derm gave me a new medication called tersa foam. it was extremely effective for me and cleared me in 1 week. i still have to maintain my skin though as the SD comes back on my nose if i dont use it straight for a week. nothing else worked for me. my skin used to be itchy, oily, and cracked all the time.

i'm not sure if tersi foam is available in india though.
