Hi everyone,
I am researching different treatments for acne scars, because I am looking for a product that will help heal/fade the scars from the acne on my back and chest areas. I was wondering if any of you have heard about or, better yet, have actually used an acne scar treatment product called the "Dermajuv Acne Scar Removal System." I've read a couple great online reviews about it, but I was hoping that some of you might know something about this product personally?
Any thoughts you have would be great!
Thanks!

We had a party at work today and I was helping myself to some food. Now this female coworker who i noticed has a dislike for me and i'm assuming it's cause of my scars. I was only a couple feet away and she and a group of people were sitting down and i could here her say,"there's something wrong with the side of his face." then another co worker near her said," I know, i'm taking note of it" Obviously I didn't turn around to say anything cause i was so upset and self concience. I quickly ate my food and pretended to be ok but then i left the room. I just couldn't believe in a room full of adults people could stoop to this low a level. It just made me angry and upset and i literally just wanted to leave work altogether, go home and kill myself. i try my best not to think about my scars but when people come out and say stuff like that knowing your right there listening it just opens up all kinds of wounds. How can people be so damn cruel???

I figured I would log my use of a derma roller. anybody who wants to follow along or chime in then feel free. I have a 1.5mm and I did my first treatment today. I just did my right cheek as this is where the worst of my scaring is and being new at this there is no point going any further right now.
I sanitized my skin and the derma roller prior to doing this. I did not even ice my face before doing this. next time I might just do that. It took awhile to get a hang of it and I will be better next time I do it. there was definitely some pain. It was less painfull as I got further along into it. I was abit unsure how hard to press ect... there was some bleeding. I thought maybe there should be lots of bleeding needle holes but that was just not going to happen. and I pressed plenty hard enough I felt. Next time I will use short strokes as they seem to be the best way to go. I rolled in several directions like you are supposed to.
My skin is red and irritated a bit and sore. Looks kind of crappy but thats ok, it will get better. I used a vitamin c lotion with vitamin b, e and other nutrients in it after I was done. Not sure what to expect as far as the recovery process, only time will tell.
Again anybody who wants to comment or make any suggestions ect.. are more then welcome. I will update from time to time with updates and details. I am only going to focus on my right cheek for awhile til I can see how this all plays out.

I have posted before about my use of evolence breeze for filling acne scars. Nobody responded though. Did anyone apart from me use it for filling? If not, that is a shame cos I think it was probably the best option for acne scars. Well it has been discontinued now. I couldn't believe it.
Johnson & Johnson have given no reason for the discontinuation but have cited that it is not do with any advserse reactions/side effects. And that the product is very safe.
My only hope is that the technology is bought up by somebody eles. Evolence, in my opinion, beats the hyaluronic acid fillers (restylane, juvederm etc) across the board.
- it is cross linked with ribose, you aren't injected any dangerous chemicals into your body
- there has not been one documented allergic reaction. Plenty have come to light with the hyaluronic acid fillers
- it doesn't migrate
- it has lasted so far 12 months with me.
- it is an actual structural filler (collagen), unlike the hyaluronic acid ones that are water plumpers.
It really is frustrating that products like restylane continue when Evolence is discontinued. Grrrr.

I am thinking about going to my dermatologist for help with my acne scars. I've been using retin a and erythromycin for a while and I have seen no improvement in acne scars. They are as noticeable and red as ever. If I do go to the dermatologist, and they suggest some type of in office treatment, would it cost money? If so, how much? And what types of in office treatments are offered? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I have Blue Cross Insurance if that matters.

3 weeks ago, I've tried The Body Shop's tea tree blemish fade night lotion which is infused with tamanu oil. I remember my scars being quite red on bilateral cheeks but after 1-2 weeks use, they had significant lightening. I have a golden brown-light brown complexion and treating scars for me isn't always easy. But the product helped catalyze the blemish fading.
Has anybody else tried tamanu oil? I was hoping to get a purer variety if anyone knows where to get them.. Thank you so much=)

I had a severe acne pimple and very foolishly, I picked at it because I had an important event coming up. Worst mistake of my life. Now 2 months later I'm in a bit of a jam. I went to the dermatologist last week and he told me I had post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. He said he could inject some kind of steroid in it and it'd be gone by Wednesday (thats today). Well the redness, at least a lot of it, had faded....one problem its been replace by WHITE/PINKISH skin now!
I suspect it may be a scar, but the dermatologist said he didnt think it was. I am so angry right now, I paid $300 and the post-acne blemish or whatever it is is still there! In a different form.
I just want my normal sking back! It's an ugly, circle thing on my head and it looks shiny and pinkish/whitish when seen under a light compared to the rest of my normal skin.
Please PLEASE tell me what I should do? I'm afraid to go back to the idiot dermatologist because he told me it'd be better by now and I no longer trust him! Yet he should try to fix this mess because he lied to me!
HELP! Will this ever go away or am I screwed? I believe I may have HYPOpigmentation now, as opposed to HYPERpigmentation. Will it return to normal color after some time? The skin itself where the blemish is, feels normal. Not depressed, or anything. But it LOOKS like its had trauma under a light, LOOKS anyway. But it feels smooth! I'm not sure what to do. Should I see another dermatologist? I dont wanna keep sinking my hard earned money into something I'm not sure about!
PLEASE HELP ME! THANK YOU!

Okay so to start off, I am new here, I just signed up today. I have been on this site, but decided to become a member now:) anyways, for the most part, my skin isnt that bad, I just have two scars that are noticeable to me, some people have a hard time finding them....I did 4 treatments of PTD to help with my persistant acne...which cleared it up and its great now..problem was durring that treatment, it thinned my skin out, and I got some bad breakouts, resulting in these scars. These scars developed February of 2008, and March of 2008. In October, of this year, I decided to try laser to help surface out these scars...I did it all over my face instead of two spots. The good thing was it helped even out my skin tone and texture..the bad part was that it brought out scars that had actually went away...so now i have those two that didnt go away..and a few others. My dermatologist is really happy with the healing of my face, but I just wish that at least those two scars would go away. He has given me retin-a to help with the cullegin. Has anyone else had any similar stories as far as the laser giving them more scars? I dont know what to do as far as healing them...if they were gone my skin would look great and it depresses me.I am in need of some advice!
Thanks:)

I have done lots of research on skin needling. As many may recall, Environ sells a device called the "Cosmetic Roll-Cit." This is being sold for over $500. It is designed to increase the penetration of topicals like Vitamin A and C. Well, I certainly do not have that kind of money. So I kept searching on the web to see if there was something similar. And there is. And what is even more interesting, a company called "Horst Liebl" designed this device, and Des Fernandes basically copied this patented device. Horst Liebl's roller is priced at only $37. People are using this to increase penetration of topicals. I have been using the dermaroller for 2 weeks now, and let me tell you, I see my scars getting smoother. I use it in combination with Renova and Vitamin C. I have been in constant contact with this gentleman, and he offers very fair prices for high-quality products. Here is the link:
http://www.dermaroller.de
This device has been shown to increase penetration into the dermis by
4000%.

When getting laser treatments done is it really up to the individual when it comes to seeing results? What I mean is it the way the individual's skin responsds to fraxel that determines the amount of improvement. For example, one person can get 60% improvement with 5 sessions and someone else can only get 25% with 5 sessions.

Had subcision done in North Carolina? And is subcision and fraxel the way to go with rolling scars? My derm told he thinks he could get a 75% improvement w/ just the laser but I've read some other posts and it doesn't sound like it's plausible. Thx

Hi All,
I had very bad cystic acne as a teenager, which has left me with some scars that i'd like to do something about. It's now 10 years since I finished using roaccutane (time flys!), and I don't suffer from new break outs anymore, so I think I should be looking to fix the scars I have remaining.
Not sure what to do - have researched lots of options to death, natural options like Rosehip oil, Bio Oil etc.. Also private professional treatments. I have booked a consultation at a private clinic to get their view (I expect it to be slightly biased of course), but would also like the opinion of other members on here who have more knowledge than I!
Here are some pictures of me today (I do also have pictures of me 10 years ago, but i'd rather not look at them!). Just like some comments on what I should be doing with these types of scars.
Ok side:

Hey this is my first post on this message board and had a couple of questions. I am a 26 year old male and suffered from light to mild acne my entire life. I have my acne under control using Clearasil pads that contain 2% Salyilic Acid. I use to smoke and about 2 months ago I was able to kick the habit, so now I am tending to be a little more self-conscious with my looks from the smoking. I use to become irritated from the pads which caused dryness and slight irritation but my skin adapted, so I would like to know something that I could use to get rid slight redness and scarring on my face. Any suggestions?

I just bought the Powerbraison kit from Skin Doctor's, the first time I tried it it made my skin feel smooth. I don't use it regularly but would it actually work if I did?
I don't have just acne scars, I have deep pit scarring. It's not very visible but it makes me feel like utter crap and old but I'm only 15. I don't want to live life with those ugly scars on my face!

I was thinking of getting one... if anyone has had one did you see any results? I have scars but the main thing that bothers me is my skin is just BAD i dont even know how to explain it. i think it is from putting on so many topicals and not moisturizing it damaged my skin.

I never actually noticed until i joined these boards that i have an acne scar. I believe it is the shallow "rolling" type. i read about dermarolling and how it works best for a shallow rolling scar. i was just wondering what the difference between the medical roll CIT and dermaroller is. i want to get it professionally done btw, and preferably one treatment only.

I just had CROSS (chemical reconstruction of skin scars) using TCA today.
The doctor cleansed my face, wiped the affected areas with acetone, and focally applied 100% TCA to each pitted scar with a sharpened wooden applicator. It was not painful, however, it did sting for a few seconds and then subsided. The treatment only took about 15 minutes to do both cheeks. Iced towels were placed over my scars for about 5 minutes, then covered with Aquaphor. This will be the first of 5-6 treatments, which has yielded out at least 70% improvement in the Korean article. I am very hopeful about this.

/
I am going to post my results for the full 5-6 treatments to let everyone know how it is progressing. I am in no pain---I have only a little swelling.
The doctor gave me some antibiotics to be extra careful not to get an infection.

Hi everyone!! i decided to join the site just to share my experience with my attempt to do some saline injections myself. I read a few threads on the site and decided to give it a go. Not sharing my experience would be just too selfish...
So here's the deal, i got some pretty bad acne bout 1 year ago and since the i treat it religiously with clindoxyl gel at night and stievamycin in the morning. i also wash with Spectro Gel day and night.
Everything i pretty much gone now, but right im breaking out every now and then probably because of stress...
as a result for my acne i got a few enlarged pores (i think that's how here called) and some redness...I also bought the zenmed scar treatment kit witch is very effective. I seeked some laser surgery and took an appointment for a v-beam perfecta but decided to cancel it thinking my condition was not bad enough to risk any side effects...plus a little patience will fix my problems.
Enough talking, i will try the saline injections on the worst scar i have now. Its a depressed scar of about .8mm deep and that covers maybe like 1 square mm. I will start slow since this involves putting needles in your face...
I did the first injection 3 days ago and saw light improvement, i plan to do it every 2 weeks for as long as it takes to see if that stuff is really effective.
To anyone that will try this, make sure to be 100% confident in yourself and handling a needle. Think twice before doing it.
So here is what you need:
-0.9% NaCl INJECTABLE SALINE (make sure its the injectable one, it comes in plastic containers with a metal cap with a thin rubber piece where you can insert the needle many time without exposing the liquid to the air.) I use the one with .09 benzyl alcohol as a preservative. Its the same thing only this kind is dangerous to newborns. If your a newborn, you should not be reading this.
-Some insulin syringes. I use some 8mm needle, 30 gauge (tiny), graduated in 1/2 cc. The short needle is plenty long enough and reduces the risk of breakage...
-Friction alcohol (70%)...for disinfecting
-Cotton balls or kleenexes
Here is how I do it.
-Clean your hands with an anti bacteria soap 3 times.
-Get in a room with not to much bacteria (NOT THE BATHROOM) and clean your work area with anything that kills all bacteria. I even spray lysol anti bacteria in the air, but that is just me being perfectionist....
-Clean the area of your face in witch you will inject with a cotton ball soaked in alcohol.
-Take out one syringe and the container of saline, and then flip the bottle upside down, push on the syringe completely then insert the needle in the bottle. pull on the syringe SLOWLY until the desired amount of saline is in it then pull out the needle of the bottle. With the needle pointing up, it the syringe's body lightly with your finger to make any air bubbles move up. Then push on the piston till they get out. Make sure to triple check this. BTW im not a nurse but just watch how they proceed when you go for the H1N1 flu vaccine....
-Then your ready to inject, at this point if your hands are shaking, forget it. Insert the needle not deep (like 1 or 2 mm) and press GENTLY on the piston to fill the scar. You can inject in little shots in different areas of the scar. Do it until it fill the scar and forms a decent bump under the skin.
-Take the needle out, put the cap back it and put it in the garbage, make sure it wont poke through it when your little brother takes out the garbage. Take a alcohol cotton ball and clean the surface you injected again. Make sure you clean the cap of the saline bottle with alcohol also. Personally, i clean tin foil with alcohol as well as the cap then wrap the bottle with it, then put it in a new ziploc and store it in the fridge till future use. Don't use the ziploc your tuna sandwich spent the last 3 months in the back of you school locker...
-Your done, don't freak out if you have a bump in you face it will be gone in less than 1h, well that was for me. I don't think your dumb enough to do this 3 minutes before going on a date with your future wife...
Extra suggestion:
You can try to shoot a full syringe in your leg first, it will probably make you more confident and you can see how fast it dissipates in your body. DON'T SHOOT IT IN YOUR MUSCLE.
Where i got the material:
I personally went to a few drug stores and just asked straight up for syringes and injectable saline, i needed to go to a few because some did not have any. Some suggested to order some though. Bottom line the stuff is easy to find and really cheap. (not even 5 bucks for a bottle of saline and like 4 for 10 syringes...) If they ask why you want this (witch they probably wont) pls dont tell them you want to inject your face. Just tell them you mom has a cyst and the clinic told you you needed to inject some saline to clean it...
Again, i wrote this as some personal experience only, TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK.
If anyone has some info or opinions on how to proceed, id be glad to hear about them!
Ill be updating as the weeks pass... see ya!

On Tuesday, Nov. 17th I will be having the Environ Medical Roll-Cit procedure done on my face for acne scars. I couldn't find much real information on the web from people who have actually done this so I decided to put my info out there. I will add before and after pics soon!
Procedure Location: NY, NY by a plastic surgeon
Cost: $5,500
Pre-surgery: I've been given a Vitamin C cream to put on in the morning and a Vitamin C oil to put on at night to prepare my skin for the surgery.

i read that if you strceh and your scars and if they disapper when you do , lasers can help.
why can they be helped if disappera if streched? does that mean they are shallow or collagen will be able to grow more inthat kind of scars?

After having read some journals that comment on the fact that there are increased chances of scarring with fraxel repair on areas where there are thin skin i.e. the neck, I am of the opinion that I would not be a candidate.
As a result of roaccutane I have been left with very dry, fragile, sensitive and thin skin as a result. Am I correct in thinking that it would be a significant risk for me to use fraxel repair on my face for my scarring. Should I look at fillers only and something less invasive. I do no want to risk further damage.
