I have rosacea(papulopustular). I am on minocycline and retino for about 1 year now. When i first started this treatment combined with chemical peels i got good results and i stopped going to my derm. as she was recommending laser for better results which my parents and family doctor didnt approve. On the advice of my family doctor i continued the same treatment. But when my acne had really gone i stopped taking minoz as they are too expensive. But then i after some time i started breaking out like hell.Again i started taking those pills and now i am quiet fine. When i visited my family doc. he tells me to stop taking those minoz because he thinks i will get addicted to them and anyways now i am clear.I think i know more about acne than he does and my conscience tells me to continue minoz but my mother is on the doc's side.I don't know what to do and i am living in this fear of breaking out again due to the past bad experience.HELP!!!!

hi all,
i am just after abit of information and hopefully a solution for why my face is always red, ive had this now for at least the past 15yrs. Its no really what i would call acne, coz theres no actual spots and it tends to be on my nose around my mouth and my chin. i thought it may of been a shavin rash, which i do have on my neck, but its totally different and i dont tend to shave my nose lol. also when i touch my skin in the red area it feels smooth. i have various creams, medicines antibiotics off the doctor, but its always there. hope someone can point me in the right direction, thanks

Has anyone tried this? I started it last week and love it! I've noticed my skin looks clearer. I use it twice a day. It just came out in August.
Peace,
xander
Oops... for the seb derm, but it doesn't aggravate the rosacea either.

Long story short, I have facial redness around my mouth (perioral dermatitis) that extends up to the sides of my nose and checks spreading about an inch or so from my nose. Also, I have a circular part of my forehead that is red. When I say "red", I mean that when the skin is stretched, the skin gets irritated. I have a small amount of blackheads where the skin is read as well. I have had this for 4 years now, which each spreading a little bit more, but the tone of the redness subsides.
I have tried all sorts of antibiotics and lotions. Right now, I am using non-flouride toothpaste and warm water to wash my face in. The dermatologists always prescribe my products that seem to combat whiteheads and not this redness. I have NO whiteheads. I have tried Tazorac, Clindamycin, minocyline/tetracycline, proactive, various anit-acne OTC products, and Prascion. None of which helped this. Most of the above made my skin verrrry red and my face did not react well. And yes, I have keep on them for at least 6 weeks if not more and no results were found.
I am now thinking that maybe it is a fungus that is creating this....does anyone know anything that could work for the symptoms I have? Keep in mind that I have had this for years. The angered skin keeps on expanding a little bit at a time. It seems like I have a simple problem, but I Just can't find out what it is. BTW, I have a small strip of 'normal, healthy' skin outlining my mouth....which further points to me having Perioral dermatitis (yet, I tried all known methods of getting rid of it....still nothing)

I have had these red marks on both sides of my cheeks for almost a year now and I'm not sure what they are. I went to the derm, and a quick glance he told me broken blood vessles. Now, I have gone and had 2 laser treatments already, and they have not improved, but actually gotten worse. They itch on occasion and will react to wind, cold weather, warmth, ect. Sometimes they are extremely red, while other times they are barelly noticeable, but still there. I took a picture of what is looks it looks like when its the most red. A couple days ago I switched from tide to dreft detergent and have noticed reduced itchyness. This makes me think that it could be an allergic reaction to tide detergent or something else that comes in contact with my cheeks. Any ideas? Thanks!

I went to the dermatologist today for the first time in awhile, and one of the things he said was that I had broken blood vessels from acne that was causing my face to be red. Most of my redness is just under my eyes and across my nose and also on my chin...it's just red, you can't see any veiny things (cause I have one of those on my nose..) I don't know if this is rosacea or what. What do you think?

Hello everyone! I really need some help...
My face started clearing up during the summer (my acne went from severe to moderate). I thought my skin could handle microdermabrasion (and apparently so did the spa lady). But no, I was very very wrong. My face started out "purging" as normal, but then it just kept getting worse and worse. I had two microderm treatments before the spa lady told me i should see the dermatologist next door before continuing. So i did and after a failed antibiotic trial i am now on Sulfa (Ive been on it for 3weeks but it isnt helping yet). He perscribed me epiduo but it wasnt working so i switched back to my erythromycin/benzoyl peroxide topical.
My face is still reallllllyyyyyy red and very sensitive from the treatments. I know it is from the treatment because there is a clear definition between my red face and white neck!!! What can I do to lessen the redness/ help my face heal??

Why are there no reviews on this?
I think women and men of color need to be fairly represented and Black Opal along with Dr. Miracle have products designed for people of color who have acne.

Hello to everyone. Over the past few days, I've had a really bad cold, so I've been blowing my nose constantly. The skin around my nose and even onto my cheeks has become extremely red, dry, and blotchy, and I understand why, but the skin on my forehead has done the same thing. I've recently been using liquid makeup to cover up the redness when I have to go somewhere, and then I've been using a facial cleanser, which I don't normally use, to remove the makeup at night. I'm sure my skin is just reacting to the constant nose-blowing, heavy makeup, and unfamiliar cleanser, but how can I get rid of these disgusting splotches? I'm obviously going to stop using the makeup and the cleanser when I can, but what can I do to heal the skin while I'm at home? Are there any creams I could use? I've also heard that taking a cold shower might help, but I'm not willing to try that one without more confirmation. Haha. I tried applying a scar cream containing aloe all over my face last night, but I didn't see any results.
Your help is much appreciated! Unfortunately, my skin is so dry that I can't use mineral makeup right now, so it looks like I'll have to continue using the liquid makeup for a while...

Hi
I have mild rosacea with moderate acne and I'm sick of it. I would like to try Dan's regimen to get rid of my acne but I'm afraid it will bother my rosacea.
If anyone with rosacea has used BP please let me know how it worked out for you.
Thanks

Well atleast I have a family that cares about helping me get rid of my acne..differin hasnt done shit for me. I've been using it religiously and following directions but its just not helping. Rosacea runs in my family and I have noticed my cheeks are red where my acne is. Its ugly

my mom told me I probably have rosacea (she was an acne sufferer herself, she would know) and UGH its horrible.
What should I do? And why did benzaclin and trentinoin work for me but differin didnt? Oh, and why did trentinoin and benzaclin stop working?

Vitamin K oxide....Auriderm products? Has anyone tried it? It's supposed to heal the redness from broken blood vessels, which I have. Unfortunately it's really pricey so I wanted to see if anyone has tried it to see if it was even worth it.

I suffered from SD and possibly rosacea too for 20 years until I achieved success with Zhongzhou zinc oxide and sublimed sulphur ointment. My symptoms were inflamed, red, flaky and extremely itchy skin on either side of my nose, which sometimes would also have a rash of white pustules, plus the same kind of shallow, white pustules on the outer edges of my nostrils. I also had severely itchy skin inside my ears.
The cream costs about fifty US dollars to have sent to the UK from Hong Kong from the Demodex Solutions online shop.
The cream can be difficult to tolerate at first and you may need to start off with almost microscopic amounts to begin with, to avoid excessive redness, tightness, flaking etc, but it really is worth it in the end. I have no symptoms at all now (I've been SD free for a couple of years) and only need to use the cream once a week to keep it under control. I tried it on my teenage son who has moderate acne and it hasn't made much difference, if any - so I've now started him on Dan's benzoyl peroxide regimen instead.
The drawbacks of the Zhongzhou cream are that it is difficult to tolerate at first, it contains menthol, which makes your eyes water for a few minutes after applying it and the cream has a sulphur smell like unstruck matches. It's not so strong a smell that anyone would notice unless they actually put their nose on your face though!
I hope this helps as it has worked brilliantly for me.

Firstly i have absolutely no facial redness unless i move/scrunch it up and then it flushes red a little. Also when it is cold my face goes a purple/red colour. However my nose is unoticeabley swollen on one side and i have had one or two eye infections recently. The swelling is under the skin and the skin on it is completely normal. Do i have Phymatous Rosacea?

I'm thinking about asking my dermatologist about it...I wanted to know a couple things.
1. How much does it cost?
2. How long does it take and how many times do you have to get it done?
3. Just an overall description of what the whole procedure is like.

Hi everyone!
I'm just curious did you notice frequent flushing and redness after starting prescription topicals? I've been on retin a, retin a micro, and differin all at different times while dealing with acne. I used to have a nice pale ivory complexion in most areas (excluding where the acne was). Although after starting acne treatments, my face became very prone to flushing and would sometimes feel itchy, dry, and red.
I also noticed more broken capillaries after starting treatment, which some people claim is not from retin a, although I disagree. If you think about it, the epidermis is thinned out from using retin a and the capillaries are probably less protected.
So has anyone else experienced redness and flushing? How long after quitting treatment did the sensitive, easily flushed skin return back to it's normal state? I feel like I would rather have acne than deal with the skin that retinoids give you.

My name is Melissa. I am 30 years old and have been suffering from mild/moderate acne since I was 19 years old.
My skin was clear throughout childhood and highschool except for freckles.
I actually made a wish to myself in high school about my freckles. Well, be careful what you wish for, because it came true. My wish was to have pimples instead of freckles because atleast freckles go away.
Anyway, I've been on BC pills for about 8 months now. (Trinessa) I notice that my skin clears up and starts to heal during my TOM, but as soon as I begin a new pack...POW! New , inflamed breakouts! I hate it.
So, yesterday I called my doctor. I told her that I wanted to go ahead and try Antibiotics, but i preferred Oracea because of all that I read about it. (Low dose Doxycycline, doesn't harm intestinal flora, helps more with skin's inflammation than bacteria, made specifically for breakouts due to Rosacea.) I don't know if I have Rosacea, but I was diagnosed with it when i was 22. After that other Derms never mentioned it with me. I do have fair skin and hazel eyes, I flush easily and have many inflamed blemishes. So I thought, "Why not?" She went ahead and prescribed it for me in conjunction with Clindagel Topical antibitoic gel. (Both my requests) Clindagel is supposed to be good for sensitive skin since it does not dry out your skin, cause redness or peeling.
Today is day 2 of taking the oral antibiotic and day 4 of Clindagel. Yesterday was my last blue pill from my BC pills, so I decided to stop taking my BC pills and just stick with Oracea.
GOD, i hope it heals me!!
I will post what happens to me within the next 2 weeks... WISH ME LUCK!!

Is there anything that can fade redness quickly?
I used Duac last night (has BP in it) went to sleep and now everywhere I put it has gone bright, bright red. I don't mean a slightly flushed shade of pink; i mean pillar-box red. Fortunatley the weather has been good recently so I'm currently using the 'touch of sun' excuse but I would really appreciate any advice on how to fade the redness (currently slathered in Sudo-cream and moisteriser).
Also, if anyone has the time to answer I have a few other questions:
Is this a reaction to the duac or could it be something else? I also used a mask made from (100%) seaweed last night but it is supposed to help redness not cause it.
What is hydro-cortisine (sp?) cream? Would it help with general redness and if so how do I get it?
Any advice for fading redness in general?
Many, many thanks for anyone who tries to help.

I have mild acne, and have been on prescriptions for the past eight years. I have solved that problem for the most part, but I have an annoying facial redness mainly on my nose and a bit on cheeks/chin. I have been using differin for years, and Klaron for the past year. I hated the consistency of Klaron, and it didn't do anything for my skin. The doctor gave me Avar Gel instead, which seems like Klaron in gel form. The Klaron didn't irritate my skin (as far as I know) but it didn't do anything to help. Also, I use Purpose Cleanser, so I'm guessing I get no irritation from washing my face.
My Questions:
1. How much time do I need to give the Avar to determine whether I have an allergy? I have only used it for two days, but my face is a stronger red than before! I know it might take a while for my skin to get used to, but how long before I should stop?
2. Is it OK to use the Avar and Differin at the same time?
3. Is it even necessary to use the Differin? Avar is used to treat acne as well...
I know these are things I could probably experiment with over time and figure out for myself, but I'd love to have some advice beforehand. Thanks!

So that I feel like I'm about 85% clear of acne, my cheeks are still pretty blotchy and flushed looking. They're also very clogged up. I've been washing with Purpose liquid cleanser and it's been the best wash I've used in years. It keeps my acne to a minimum and keeps my skin looking healthy for the most part. So now I'd like to take care of the clogged pores and the redness in my cheeks.
At the moment all I do is wash morning and night with the Purpose cleanser and VERY rarely put BP on whiteheads, since I don't get that many. Though, throughout the day I take vitamin ACE pills (all 3 in one pill) with 2 of my meals, about 90mg of zinc, 500mg of C 3 times and about 3-4 fish oils, oh and a swig of ACV 1-2 times. It keeps me relatively clear but now I want to add a little more into my skin care regemin.
I recently ordered Paula's Choice 2% BHA and it should be here tomorow or Thursday. I also just got back from the store and bought Eucerin Redness Relief Soothing Cleanser. My skin normally doesn't react bad to anything I put on my face. I used to use the DKR but I screwed it up using some kind of Clean and Clear Cleanser.
Anyway, so here's my new plan:
Morning: Wash with Eucerin Redness Relief Soothing Cleanser
Night: Wash with Purpose liquid cleanser and then wait 15-20 mins to use PC 2% BHA
So opinions/recommendations on this plan would be so awesome.

Hello,
I use to have acne, but now i have almost no acne, simply from using Benzoyl peroxide. however when i was first beginning to use benzoyl i had used alot of it and had burnt my face... that happened about 9 months ago, now after that my cheeks have remained slightly red, and after hydrocortisone and laser treatments the redness has decreased to a tolerable level. However lets say I have alcohol or in a warm/hot environment my cheeks light up pretty red again... Now the red area is for sure getting smaller and you can almost see like where it cuts off its almost an exact line to it. What im wondering is there anyway to help get rid of this redness? for good? or if it will ever be gone?
Thanks

I began experiencing facial flushing back in late November. Which is just after I started using a lot of new products. I started on Solodyn (minocycline), Yaz Birth Control, Differin Gel, and Duac. After about one month I stopped using the Solodyn. After two months I stopped using the Yaz Birth Control Pill and Duac. I continued with the differin gel until a few weeks ago.
I went back to the dermatologist after I stopped both the Solodyn and the Birth Control Pill in early January. I told her that I thought it was causing me to get really hot... I thought at the time that, that was all it was. Hot flashed or something. I thought the medicine caused it. So she perscribed me Bactrim. I used that for about two months. It worked great for break outs. However, I ended up getting a mild rash on my stomach from it. So I went back to the dermatologist about that and she toke me off it and put me on Spironolactone. Which I've been using now for two months and It is worked great for my break outs and my oily skin. Which I'm very happy about.
However the facial flushing has continued and gotten worse over time. I have only recently stopped using the differin gel. About three weeks now. I don't know what could have caused this facial flushing but... it's beginning to become impossible to live with. It mostly happens in any kind of heat or when I'm embarrsed/stressed. Although, sometimes it happens randomly for no apparant reason. It is very discomforting... my face feels like it is burning. When I touch my cheeks they are soooo hot. I can feel my face pulsing almost too. My ears also get very hot and red. It seems to be worse on the right side of my face than on my left side.
If I sit in front of a fan for a good 15-20 mins usually it will calm down. Also sometimes when I wake up in the morning my face is back to normal. Recently though even sitting in front of a fan or getting a good night's sleep isn't working anymore. I woke up today with my right cheek and ear very red... my left cheek was a little red too. My whole face felt so hot. I toke a cool shower and that helped. My face doesn't have that burning sensation anymore but my cheeks are still pretty rosy.
I don't know what caused this or what to do about it. I don't know what kind of treatment there may be. But if anyone knows please please please help me out. I would really appreciate any advice. I would love to hear about anything that may have worked for you.
I am going to the doctor tomorrow morning about this. I'm going to take a really warm shower and go right afterwards so she can see how bad this really is. Also I am going to try going to my dermatologist too if the doctor doesn't know what to do about it.
Please help me. I'm so depressed about this. This is effecting every day of my life. I don't want to go on forever dealing with this. What can I do about this?
