Hi
I'm considering going to see a derm (made an appointment actually) to see if they will prescribe roaccutane for my mild but very persistent acne. I've had it for at least 10 years and it does not respond to any treatment (antibiotics / topicals / birth control pills e.g. dianette etc). I'm worried by the cost of treatment - £200 ish for each consultation (I presume monthly), plus tests (I presume monthly), plus prescription. That's HUGE! My acne is not bad enough to get treatment on the NHS, so as this is my only hope I'm seriously considering it. They are based in London. Does anyone have any experiences / advice please? Thanks a lot.

After trying and failing for 6 months on DKR, I've decided to give long distance treatment at Face Reality Skincare a try, so here we are - a new year, a new log!
I've completed the online questionnaire, sent pics, and received my serum testing kit. I reported back my findings. I have been told I have mainly non-inflamed acne, and am waiting for the following products to arrive: Acne Scrub Salicylic Toner Mandelic 8% SPF for acne prone skin Acne Med 5% Cranberry Cream I'm going to spare you the details of how fed up / miserable / depressed I am with my skin at the moment. Let's just say I'm desperate and leave it there. Any advice / tips / comments from other FRSCC (especially long distance) users would be very welcome and appreciated! Hopefully my products will arrive next week... Here are a few things I've been doing so far (based on the clinic's handouts): Taking 100mg zinc picolinate (as of Jan 10th) Using fragrance-free washing liquid Watching iodine intake Trying to get enough sleep / destress (ha! kind of hard when ur miserable) Switched from Clinique's superfit foundation to Lily Lolo minerals Stop switching cleansers / moisturisers / make-up. My aims for the next 3 months are: Not to freak out when I break out. Stick with the regimen. Give it 3 months to work.

Hi everyone
I've been doing the DKR for 4.5 months now, and it's working really well in some areas. However I'm still breaking out on my chin and the creases of my nose My Paula's choice 2% BHA should arrive next week, which I'm planning to use x1 a day in the evening before BP. (Hopefully it won't be too irritating). I currently use AHA in the evening, but I guess I'll have to skip this because I read you're not supposed to use 2 exfoliants together (I could use the BHA in the morning but don't want to flake all day!) Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this a good routine? I'm not sure if my remaining breakouts are inflammatory or not, but read that BHA can help any acne, not just comedonal...? Thanks for any advice

My hands are getting quite dry because I wash them before applying BP, after, before moisturising, and after (I wash them after so I don't bleach anything). Before leaving the house in the morning I've probably washed them about 5 times. I've tried some handwashes for sensitive skin but it doesn't help. My skin is quite sensitive.
There are a few out there for people with eczema, but they leave a residue which I'm worried may transfer to my skin... or maybe I'm being paranoid. Can anyone recommend a good gentle handwash please?

Hi
I'm currently using Eucerin Skin Renewal face cream as part of Dan's regimen. It's the best one I've tried so far, but I still have quite dry and flaky skin in some areas, even reapplying it. I know Cetaphil is recommended as really moisturing, but I can only find Cetaphil moisturiser in the US meaning paying stupidly high shipping rates - does anyone know an alternative in the UK please? Thanks |
