If I wanted to keep my facial skin into its beneficial acid mantle range of 5.5... could I do the following...
I do believe that my cleanser is close to 7 to scale, if I wanted to lower that to 5.5... could I add a little bit of lemon juice to it to lower the PH of it? I'd measure it of course with Litmus Paper to get the correct reading first.
Currently I wash, then apply my BHA (with a PH of 3) and then my moisturizer with SPF15 (with a PH of 7.5) which the two neutralize each other to around 5.5 PH... therefore if I could get my cleanser down to 5.5 ... my skin would constantly be at its favorable PH...
I'm I correct to assume this?
Jason ANy feedback is welcomed...

hi all,
ive been off accutane for a year and 4 months now and still my red marks havnt faded until i came across this certain regimen. Now im not 100% sure if this regimen is helping or of my red marks are fading because ive been off accutane for a while so you guyz let me know if it helps..
1. steam face with lavenda oil,
2. around 5min after steaming, mix 2 teaspoons of lemon juice and 2 teaspoons of rosewater, apply over face with cotton ball
3. around 20min later, wash mixture off and apply baking soda. put abit of baking soda in ur hand and apply abit of water making it into a paste mixture, apply over affected areas, wash off after applying.
Now as i said i dont know if this helped so please let me know what happens with you.
Also im still getting friggin acne (mild) i dont know why, im thinking of going on accutane again just to finish the job any suggestions?

I just wanna know, does accutane have any effect on ridding red marks?
I have literally, HUNDREDS of red marks on my back. And places like my shoulders too.
I know its better to leave it alone and heal themselves, but is their any other dermatologists prescription for fading acne quicker or sumthing?
-Thx alot

ive been using retin-a micro for two months now and a lot of my acne is gone, but every single zit i get leaves a red mark. its always been like this, its like the zits just flatten out instead of healing. i have a ton of small leftover red marks on my forehead and chin, and larger red marks on both cheeks.. i've had some of these for four years. the retin-a micro has helped them fade a TINY bit... but i guess i'm getting impatient, i'm 16 and just tired of having to put on pounds of makeup every single day just to get my face look halfway normal when my acne isn't really that bad anymore.
anyways, i went to the dermatologist for a follow-up appointment and she said that vbeam is the only thing that will help besides retin-a. she didnt mention any chemical peels or anything, which suprised me, because i thought there were a lot of ways to get rid of them. she even offered to do the first laser treatment right then... but i said i needed to think about it. she said that after a vbeam treatment it just looks like you have a minor sunburn but, after doing a search on here, i'm hearing a lot of different things- people are talking about bruising? she said it would take 2-4 treatments to make the red marks go away, at $150 a treatment.
i'm not sure if i want to get this done if i'll have purple marks on my cheeks for two weeks and i almost feel as if she was minimizing the "recovery time" i would need because she seemed so eager to use the laser. people have said that they had a lot of improvement just using neosporin... soo, i'm debating over whether to try this or not.
i have a few questions:
how long did it take your skin to look passable as 'normal'?
were you able to go to school, work, etc without embarassment?
what effect did it have on existing acne?
did the laser ever make your skin worse or leave any permament marks?
how raw was your skin afterwards- could you put on foundation or concealer?
were the results worth it?
thanks for any information

I am guilty of picking and popping. However, i have gotten a lot smarter and have stopped a lot. the only time i cant hold back is when those whiteheads are jsut staring at me. Now I am on RAM and man that stuff def purges and brings stuff to the surface. I had some coming and after applying it normally i spot treated with it and the next morning all the junk was up and there were like 5 whiteheads. Now i cant stand the feeling, look, or the wait so i take a pin to them and gently get that stuff outta there. I DO NOT ADVISE THIS NOR RECOMMEND THIS. however if ur like me and only wait till the white head the best way to help heal it and prevent major red marks is using the triple ointment or neosporin. i dont like neosporing because its white and has heavy mineral oil. the CVS triple anitbiotic i have contains bacitracin, neomycin, and polymixin B. All i do is with a Q tip tab a little on the spot and let it be. Usually hours later there is no swelling and it will heal them better. Then thats it ill let the RAM take the rest of the dead skin in days to come. doenst mean it is good to pop and pick now, but if u do here is a little thing that i have seen help.

well... i went to bed with my usual derm suggested regimen... which includes aha + vit c + tretinoin + clindamycin... and my face was as usual, red with minor red bumps... not that i like it but anyway, this morning, when i woke up, one red bump went totally black... haha... it's on my cheek so i just gently use my tongue to push the underside and some blood oozed out an open pore... lmao... i gently oozed as much as i can and then washed my face with cetaphil and continued with my regimen...
it doesn't hurt at all but now i have a black ~7mm in diameter bump on my cheek... great... like i have a huge mole or something... haha... anyway, i assume it's drying by the day cos it's getter blacker and blacker... and i cannot access it at all cos it's like under the skin... not that i want to but...
just to let you know, i didn't touch the thing at all, so i have no idea why it bled...
not really sure what to do right now, so maybe i could get some opinions on what to do or what to expect...

Ok, pretty much all topicals that are left on the face (especially perscriptions) don't help at fading red marks at all, in fact most of the time they halt the process. So I was wondering what I could use after washing that wouldn't make red marks worse, but killed bacteria and prevented acne at the same time.
Regimen goes something like zis:
Morning - Wash with Cetaphil Cleanser
Night - Wash with Cetaphil, exfoliate with baking soda, apply vinnear, some nights a mask
Should I just keep it the way it is? I'd like something in the morning to protect me from bacteria throughout the day. Should I reverse day/night but still keep the mask on night?

Has anyone tried it? I've been using Nucelle for awhile. It helps fade marks and even tone very well, but the marine complex irritates my skin sometimes and I get tiny red bumps along the sides of my face. I'm almost out and would like to stick w/ mandelic acid but try a new brand

I put some latic acid peel on my upper right cheek and then my phone rang....i answered the phone and totally forgot about the latic acid. ...20 minutes later i go to wach my face with the C+C blackhead clearing scrub and my skin just falls out. I almost started to cry and i thought maybe it was just red because it was burned from the acid, so i went to bed. I woke up the next moring and i saw it was even worse it was like a 3 inch by 3inch BRIGHT red indentation. I immidiatly went out and bought some neosporin. The next week i kept being asked "did you get into a fight" or "how did you burn yourself" it was really embarising. The neosporin cleared it up pretty good in about 2 weeks. But it also left alot of acne. I think the last of the acne is finnally clearing up. They really are serious when they say dont leave it on for more than 2-3 minutes.

most of my acne is gone but i still have many red marks. I was wondering what would be the best, or if there are any cleansers that would help fade red marks but at the same time fight acne, preferably available at a drug store. I am open to many suggestions, not just a wash but something not too expensive, and something that would fit into my regimen.
currently i was with an antibacterial wash from dermalogica and apply dan's BP over my face then moisturize with emu oil. any replies would help, thanks.

I've been tryin everything to get rid of red marks, so far nothing has worked, but i must say that ACV has faded them some,,ayway my derm prescribed me triluma about 4 months ago,,it bleached my surrounding skin and made the red marks even redder!! i stopped obviously, but i'm going to try it only on one mark, applying just a bit there and see what happens...anyone who has used this cream please give your opinions.

I have been off of Accutane for two weeks after a brief treatment period. My skin is so
incredibly red in the places were the acne once was that it looks as if my face is still broken-out. I had to point out to a friend the other day that they weren't pimples (agrhhh).
Just out of curiosity, how long will it take before they fade naturally?
Also, I've been occasionally applying apple cider vinegar to the red spots. Some people believe I shouldn't be doing this until two months after I stopped taking Accutane but no one specified why. I imagine it is because my skin is so sensitive but will that increased sensitivity do anything negative other than burn a little bit? Will it slow down the healing process? Make the could-be scars worse? What???
I once remember buying Apple Cider Vinegar supplements that were supposed to aid with weight loss. I never finished the bottle and it is probably somewhere under my sink since I really don't need to loose weight (girls, you know how this goes). Does anyone think that taking these supplements will have equal benefits of putting Apple Cider Vinegar on my face?
In addition (wow, I have more questions than I thought I did!), has anyone tried any natural bleaching creams?
I also have Puredeming Intense Gel sitting in my refrigerator. Anyone have any input regarding that?
And, girls, what type of foundation do you use to cover these red marks that isn't irritating and is oil-free? I've been using cheap over-the-counter products and want something more beneficial for my skin.
I know this contains a thousand questions and I apologize.

I just want to be sure that whatever I am doing is going to rid my skin of the blemish effect and not make it worse.
Any information would be extremely appreciated!!!

People have been warning me about the dangerous effects glycolic acids can have on the skin. I have really shallow scars on my forehead and i just wanted to get rid of the dicoloration and make it lighter. I was asking for a 10% glycolic acid toner or cleanser for my forehead, and people started telling me to not use it b/c it will permanently ruin my skin and give me wrinkles. They told me to use sunscreen (i've been using spf 15 since sixth grade), i have no problem with sunscreen, but is it really that harmful? Is there another alternative then? Can i still use glycolic acid for my forehead?

Hi people,
I was wondering if it's okay to start with vinegar method while still using a topical gel (stievamycin)? Stievamycin is tretinoin plus erythromycin.... anyway, i have like LOADS of red marks (which will also prob turn into scars, knowing my skin and it's healing process.....

. So basically, i'm just wondering if it's fine to use vinegar at the same time? i'm worried if it may make it worse, shouldn't be done, etc...
if anybody can give me some advice, I'd really appreciate it.

I recently have had 4 smoothbeam treatments for acne. Now the acne is wayyyy better and all, it made me hyperpigment like crazzzzyyyy. Now that every little blemish leaves a mark, it kinda sucks. Add that ontop of CONSTANTLY red skin on my WHOLE chin and nose/area under the eyes. It gets even redder after excercising or sweating. when I say red I dont mean a bunch of marks that make it look like my whole chin is red, i'm sayin my whole chin is red.
Ok now, what is the consencus on vbeam? How many treatments...cost per treatments...how long do results last....any horrible side effects? Anything else I should know.
I have been to candelas website and it shows some pretty impressive results!
also if it matters: I am caucasion, pretty fair skinned. I hyperpigmented pretty easily before smoothbeam but SB only exacerbated the problem.
Thanks!!

i have post infammatory hyperpigmentation in the form of brown marks. id like to know if this forum includes this disscusion.

id also like to know what are red marks? is this just a way of discribing the type of hyperpigmentation that people with pale (white) skin get, or is it some type of acne lesion. i have dark brown (black) skin so thats why i have brown marks.

I've been looking up lactic, malic, and glycolic peels and I want what's most effective. I want to exfoliate really well and hopefully fade some discoloration. What would work best for red marks? Thanks for the advice.
edit: by the way, would apple cider vinegar help with red marks too?

I have this red blotch of skin above my lip that has been there for at least 2 years. I think it was due to me shaving over a small pimple. Every since then, there has been a permanent red mark. A small red dot with the surrounding skin red. Is there anything i can do? I really do not think any type of cream will do
Please Reply
Thanks
