Right I have these persistant red marks that cover all of my cheeks, they have been there since I got off Roactatane back in June 2008.
I have tried nearly everything apart from Retin-A (I know I should try that, but I wont be able to take another major breakout, which happens in most cases), well anyways my mum is a beauty specialist and shes being giving me peels over the years etc.
Atm my mum has the Crystal Clear machine, which is the same as Microdermobrasion, so my question is does is get rid of the red marks (especially when flushing:().
1: I know that it leaves your face red for a couple of days, but helps it in the long run since it takes the top layers of your skin off.
2: How long about does your skin take to heal back to the way it was/or better than it was?
Thx 4 reading,

So I've been drinking Apple Cider everyday for the past two weeks. I'm not sure if it's because of this, but my marks have started fading and skin has started looking healthier.
I know a lot of people have had great results with ACV, so my question is - how different is ACV from Apple Cider? I read that people don't like drinking ACV - but just Apple Cider tastes great and I love drinking it.
Another question I have, which I've posted here before but got no response to, is regarding Salicylic acid. I've been using a Salicylic 2% wash morning/night for the past 4-5 months. I want to know if using it for so long might be bad for the skin in the long run? I want to switch to a regular milder face wash and would like some recommendations?
Thank you very much.

I've been using ACV as a toner at night but I think it's too strong. I'm thinking about trying Green Tea as I have a lot of it around anyway (I live off the stuff lol).
I'm reluctant to try anything which could clog pores as I've recently stopped getting any new spots.

So Ive had severe, dark red marks all over my face for about two years now with no signs of improvement and was looking at glycolic acid. My derm said the red marks were "vascular" whatever that means?? So would the glycolic acid still help me?

Hello
I am suffer acne then acne scar and hyperpigmentation. I try all kind product even chemical peel but none it working even got more hyperpigmentation or acne from it.
Here what i do please follow the step u will get pretty skin in month or week.
If u at work, school or at home try eat salad by add carrot, tomato, green bean, fish or chicken or any kind vegetable u can if u dont have it U must eat 2 tomato also if it to hard to eat u can buy this dressing sauce from amazon Kraft Tangy Tomato Bacon Dressing U can choose watever dressing sauce u like and it cheap too. If u at work or school i don't think u can doing this but just try eat tomato and drink water because the are two important thing u need to skin repair and heal red mark faster.
After u done eating try drink 2 bottle of 16 oz water with lemon mix with honey in it if honey and lemon waste your time just drink water remeber have to drink it all. Do this every 2 or 3 hour depend on if u want your red mark or scar fade in month u can do at max 3 hour since u will need water in 3 hour anyway =) or u want your red mark or scar in fade 2 or 3 week u need doing this every 2 hour.
The reason why we get red mark or dark spot take forever to heal it because our human does not eat enough vegetable and water to heal our skin that mean fade red mark =) Scar form when your skin does not heal. Example my sister have acne scar and red mark but it only take her a month to fade but why my skin take over a year not fade.
Vegetable it number 1 key to success to free acne and acne scar or hyperpigmentation.
Water it number two to remove dead cell like red mark or dark spot from acne.
Stress force u to have acne make u eat alot junk food oil skin and slow your skin to heal which cost red mark and scar to form.
U need kick that stress out of your life u need move on with your life because life must move on forget the past move forward.
Even people try tease u. U need try to be happy tell yourself u will get pretty skin one day. Then u can spread around the world about your acne story.
If u won't eat vegatable or drink enough water to heal your skin your red mark pr dark mark only stay there and make scar in the long term.
Vitamin e oil the higher the better u can fine at drugstore or at your area. Just use this at night before going to bed then wash it of in the morning
Good luck to everyone! Remeber eat vegatable and drink water in 2 or 3 hour it not a easy thing to do. It depend on u that u want cure your acne or acne scar tell yourself u can do it

without those chemical which can make your face worse of acne and more scar from it.

Has anyone used either of the above products? What were your results like/what is the difference?
The Nacar Miracle Cream claims to be designed specifically for acne and is meant to treat:
Stretch Marks
Acne
Acne Scarring
Age spots and Stains
Sun Spots
Skin Blemishes.
So what is the difference between these 2 products, what results have you gotten from using them?

I am going to Las Vegas on Nov 13 and I want to try to fade my red marks as much as possible by that time. I was debating about doing glycolic acid peels a month ago for this trip, but hesitated as I thought ACV should fade them pretty good by the time I go. My red marks are still very red at this point. If I do the 40% GA peels, I would do it this Thursday and next Thursday. I would only be able to do two peels before I go to Las Vegas. Two peels probably won't be significant enough to make a dramatic change, but I believe it should work better than using ACV every day and night as a topical.
I have used GA peels before with success, but generally it takes 4-5 peels to notice a difference.
Should I do the two peels before my Las Vegas trip?
I have TONS of red marks, especially on the left side of my face.

INTRODUCTION:
(to make things a bit clearer)
Glycolic and lactic acids are both AHAs, i.e. Alpha Hydroxy Acids. Lactic acid is slightly milder, so it is recommended to people whose skin is more sensitive, to first time users, people constantly exposed to sun (although this does not mean you should not wear a sunscreen at all times), and people with darker skin tone.
AHA's are skin exfoliants, which work on the skin, unlike BHAs which work inside the pore. AHAs are beneficial for skin in many ways, among them: reducing light scars and red marks and signs of photoageing, and getting back that beautiful even skin color and natural glow.
SPF is a must everyday if you want to use the peel!
The procedure and risks are the same for both acids.
BEFORE DOING THE PEELS:
Make sure your skin is more or less clear - a bunch of inflamed pimples will probably only get worse, since your skin, together with them, will be overly irritated after the peel. A few pimples in not so serious condition is ok.
Do not use if you were on accutane in the last 6 months, or perscription topical retinoids in the last month. If you use non-prescription topical retinoids, i suggest you stop them one week before starting the peels, and wait one week after finishing the peels to start them again.
The reason for these precautions is that accutane and topical retinoids lead to thinning of the skin, thus to extreme skin sensitivity. not following the instruction above may lead to skin injuries and scars.
WHEN BUYING ACID:
i suggest 30% to start with. please do not try anything stronger at home, by yourself. some salons and derms go up to 50%, but after all they are proffessionals and know how to deal with it. 30% will bring you great results, especially b/c most of you have young and gentle skin that reacts much better and faster to lower percentages. high percentages of GA are usually meant for older/ageing skin.
Be sure to check the percentage, the PH (it has to be lower than 4 in order to be effective) and i suggest buying brand names or from reliable sellers.
Ph under 6.5 means that the substance is acidic, 6.5-7.5 being neutral, above 7.5 being alkaline. But, in order for the peel to be successful, ph above 4 won't do much, it will be a mild exfoliant. Most of the 30% ga peel are ph 2.2-2.8, which is probably what you should look for when buying an acid.
IMPORTANT:
I am not a doctor or a trained aesthetician. I am writing this with knowledge i have from my own experience with glycolic acid, with lots of instructions from my aesthetician and with what i read in various articles.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1.
whatever you do, please follow these steps. Glycolic acid is an ACID and if you're not careful, even low percentage can cause burns and/or hyperpigmentation and/or various other side effects
if used properly, GA can bring lots of benefits to your skin
2.
You will have much better results if you first prepare your skin with glycolic acid 5% (more sensitive skin) or 10% (not so sensitive skin) toner (alternatively lotions with same percentage). Apply the toner 2-3 times a day, start 7 days before the first peel. Use the lotion all the time, between and after the peels. apply generously. this is an important step, since lots of people, myself included, had much better results with involving a ga or la product into their daily regimen, prior to and during the peel.
3.
Your face should be completely clean and dry beofre the peel. it is best to wait at least 15min after washing your face, to make sure the skin is completely dry, since water can neutralize the acid.
4.
THE PEEL:
gently apply over your whole face, even the areas that are not affected by scars, leave it for up to 6 minutes (depending on the sensitivity of the skin). when you feel burning (unpleasant tingling) and notice redness, take it off. it is very important that you follow the process all the time in the mirror and have everything prepared for rinsing the acid, as a second longer can cause burns. i suggest that you do part by part of your face, in that way, you'll be more able to control what's going on. for example, first do the forehead, that after it reacts, remove and than do one cheek, then the other one, then nose and chin. apply extremely gently. no rubbing in.
from my experience there are times when it becomes unbearable after only 2-3 times, but there are times, when i almost don't feel a thing. it probably depends on various reasons and skin condition of that day
you can apply the acid with your fingers, or you can alternatively use a brush or a cotton swab.
FIRST TIME USERS: Please start with 2-3min time, then you can gradually increase by a minute.
5.
TAKING THE ACID OFF
it is very important to remove it AS SOON as your skin starts to get red and/or you experience unbearable tingling and/or the temperature of your skin raises.
you can either remove the acid with a neutralizer (sodium bicarbonate eg.) or you can just rinse it with lots of water. water has a much higher ph than a peel does, so it will neutralize it, no worries.i suggest taking it off with only lots of water (cold or lukewarm, never hot), but i suggest always having some baking soda on your side just in case, b/c with it you can react faster.
6.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
be careful not to let the acid into your eyes. it's acid. you must not put the acid on the eye area and be very careful not to touch any of that thin sensitive skin around the eyes with it.
if you're a first time user, do the peel every 7 days for the first series of peels, then gradually you can shorten the time between the peels, but never do them more often than every 4 days. you should do six peels in a series, make a break for at least one month and then continue the same.
it's best do the peels in the evening
never expose yourself to direct sunlight at least 1 hour after applying the toner (if you're using one), don't do the treatments in the summer, or if you know you'll travel somewhere where you'll be exposed to direct sunlight most of the time, always use SPF cream when you're going out and never use sunbeds or other artificial tanning stuff during and at least three weeks after the treatment.
also avoid other sensitive areas like the line under your lower lip and around the nose.
7.
after rinsing, tap dry, very gently and apply a moisturizer (if you're using moisturizers with active ingredients, like AHA eg. don't use that one after the peel, but find sth that is very neutral and nourishing - like jojoba oil, emu oil, aloe vera or panthenol, eg.)
8. COMMON SIDE EFFECTS:
excessive dryness
excessive oiliness
breakouts
increased skin sensitivity
flaking
9. DO NOT:
exfoliate your skin during the treatment, because glycolic acid is an exfoliator itself, and, due to increased skin sensitivity, you can cause dmage to the skin by excessive exfoliation.
Also, do not use products containing BP, SA, retinoids, or any other active ingredient 24hrs prior to the peel and 24hrs after the peel.
If your concern is mainly redmarks, i suggest you also try the following:
1. sleep - rest is important for the cells to function properly and cell healing comes in sleep.
2. eat healthy, drink lots of water and never forget your vitamin c - skin healing also comes from the inside
3. never use products on your face that can be drying, irritating or harsh in any other way to your skin - dry and/or orritated skin cannot heal itself as easily as healthy skin can. you can find a list of common skin irritants here:
http://www.acne.org/messageboard/Biggest-Mistakes-People-t102347.html4. don't ever ever touch your face! touching a pimple irritates your skin even more and can result in even bigger and stronger redmarks
5. always wear a sunscreen. you can find a list of recommended sunscreens here:
http://www.acne.org/messageboard/Biggest-Mistakes-People-t102347.htmlsome AHA products you might want to consider:
Paula's Choice 8% Alpha Hydroxy Acid Gel
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Face Lotion
anything from Alpha Hydrox
ProActiv Revitalizing Toner
some more information on chemical peels:
http://www.dermnetnz.org/treatments/fruit-acids.htmlhttp://www.cosmeticscop.com/learn/art.asp?ID=155http://skincarerx.org/AHA.htmlhttp://puredeming.com/faq/directions.htmlhttp://www.plasticsurgery.org/public_educa...hemicalPeel.cfmThere are also quite a few studies done on the effect of glycolic, lactic and salicylic acid peels on asian and black skin, for treating various skin conditions, from hyperpigmentation to melasma. if you are of color, i suggest reading those studies before doing the peel (there are quite a few of them, so i won't link them here, also since lots of them are in pdf. i suggest you google "acid peel asian" or "acid peel black")

Has anyone had this problem?
I have a very light skin colour. Had perfectly clear skin until this year, when out of no where, my face and back exploded with acne, mostly comedonal. I've been on tetralysal for about 4 months now. The acne is only slightly improved.
The odd thing is that I've noticed my face is now about 4-5 shades darker than my neck and the rest of my body. It is really very noticeable, and friends have commented on it. It's not the red marks from old pimples, though I have those as well. But the whole of my face just looks very tanned compared to other parts of me. I know tetralysal causes sun-sensitivity, but I've been mainly indoors, and besides, my arms, which are more exposed to sun than my face when I go out, are normal in colour (same as the rest of my body).
Oh, and I also used differin for about 2 weeks (alternate days) about 3 months ago. It turned my face bright red. Stopped using it as my face felt like it was burning. Could this be due to the differin? But surely the effect should have worn off after 3 months!!!!!!
Anyone experienced this? Any advice on how get my face back to normal? I tried using some "whitening" skin care products I bought from ebay, but have seen absolutely no improvement.
I feel super self-conscious about this. If anything, this is worse than the acne itself.

about a week ago i popped two horrific pimples around my upper lip / cheek area. now, i know that popping is highly discouraged, but i just could not help it. needless to say, blood was present after popping the pimples.
i managed to use bp 10% to dry the blood and form a scab, however, i think i might have peeled it off slightly prematurely. i have now been using a combination of tea tree oil and aloe vera gel to sooth the redness of my skin down.
my main delimma is that i'm going to a halloween party on friday night and would really want the redness to be toned down considerably or, if i have to, cover it up.
is there any possibility that the aloe vera / tea tree oil will reduce the redness to a considerable level by friday (it's wed. afternoon, now)
or will i have to go to rite-aid and pick up a concealer (i'm an asian male with light-tanned skin)
please and thank you's.

Has anyone tried this product? I'm looking for something that will safely fade my red marks, even if it's only temporary. I think concealing them with some effective bleaching creams would keep them at bay until they naturally fade. This Meladerm fading cream is so expensive, though... $50! I'm also worried that it will cause breakouts or make my pale skin even lighter.
Has anyone used this product, or one similar? How did it work for you?

For the people that have used vitamin e to heal your red marks, and by heal I mean pretty much go away completely or at least to the point where it's very unnoticable. So how long did it take for your red marks to heal using vitamin e? I'm slowly going insane every day, I have A LOT of red marks on my cheeks, I would say I've been using vitamin e for about one month now. I have been using the soft gel form as a supplement and massaging it into my cheeks everyday, I've seen it fading very little, but I was hoping the results would be much better. Oh and I've already had the red marks for a year and a half already. Please help!

Aqua Glycolic is amazing. Now, I've been using it three days and while it hasn't made my red marks amazingly disappear, it softened my skin and reduced the constant flush look of my cheeks. Which in turn, makes them look a lot better.
First Day, I put it on and noticed that all my active acne was red. I was disheartened and just felt like shit after that point.
Second Day, about the same thing, my face didnt look much better but I strived on since I figured I had no other product to really try.
Third Day, I woke up this morning and noticed a lot of white skin where my red marks were, and my active acne is about gone. Amazing. I'm hoping to keep this up and see how it does for me. I'll keep this updated with pictures, so everyone can see my results before jumping into use of the product.

hey guys.. i've been raving about the Ambi products-- "even and clear"
they are really great and have given me the best results for clearing up my spots on my face
these products are typically for darker skin toned women..
but im caucasian and use the products and they give me the best results ever..
i've been using them for about a week or two now.. and havent seen this good of results from a product in a long time.
i suggest you guys just search for them on drugstore.com
and get an idea of what i'm talking about.
the Fade mark minimizer really can help reduce any marks on your skin..
their products are good.. soy, vitamin a, c, and e.
they're pretty good.. i suggest you guys check em out..
you can find Ambi products at your local grocer, target, walgreens, cvs
I suggest you guys try the Ambi even and clear exfoliating wash..
then apply the mark minimizer over night
I hope you guys try this product and let me know if you've got the same results..

I guess this question is for those of you who are up to date with your PIH research, i've been using this product and am a bit confused if it has worked or not, one thing it has done is to limit the amount of breakouts which i guess is the papaya enzyme due to its exfoliating effect.
Has anyone of you guys used this soap commonly reffered to as Diana Stalder Kojic & Papaya soap.. tho if you can see on ebay sellers sell OEM a non branded version of Diana Stalders soap which normally comes in a see thru plastic wrap and the block of soap is a bright orange colour.
For those who have or currently using it your comments/opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks

Hi I'm new to this board and I'm posting this hoping to get an answer.. I'm not sure if these are scars or if they will ever go away, in time? Or will they ever go away?
It's extremely frustrating because they aren't zits, acne, or pimples I don't know what they are. I just want a clear face. I have had them for over a few months..
Here is a picture so you can see what I am talking about.

I have post acne brown spots on my face from picking pimples, and I have been trying to get rid of them for the past 4 months. Some of the products worked, but every time a brown spot gets erased, a new pimple pops up, and turns into a brown spot,(I don’t even pick them anymore) Right now, I have a basket full of products. I Have
1) Neutrogena at home microdermabrasion
2) Ambi skin discoloration cream
3) Neutrogena Acne mark fading cream
4) Proactiv
5) Palmers skin discoloration cream
6) Esoterica skin discoloration cream
7)100% aloe Vera
8) Bye Bye Blemish Wash
9) Palmers cocoa butter
10) Acne Free
11) Aveeno Clear Complexion Correcting Treatment
I would like to know what products (either that I own or have to buy) would help prevent pimples, and get rid of my existing spots. Not that it really matters, but I would like them to leave by summer. But it’s really not that important that they're gone by summer. People always tell me that proactiv helps with spots, but I want to know how long it takes.

I pretty much gained control over my acne after my senior year in high school. Now a few years into college I have a few to a handful of red spots left on my face. What's everyone advice on what I'm doing now:
At night I take a shower and wash my face with a gentle cleanser, I then use a baking soda and water combo and massage it into my face where my acne isn't inflamed with a tooth brush. I'm trying to even out my scars as well. I then wash my face with an aloe soap and use a non alcoholic toner. Just the other day I read about AHA and I found some I had gotten but never used. I've started using this at night while I sleep and I'd like to think it's evened out some of the red marks. But SHOULD I BE COMBINING THE BAKING SODA EXFOLIATER AND THE AHA AS I AM NOW?

hey guys,
Please dont get mad if im wrong or anything i was just wondering. When acne leaves red marks on your face is laser the only way to get rid of them? Because the red marks are broken blood vessels that products wont affect? If anyone has info on this please comment im dying to know. Recently i have been SA cleanser, 10%AHA and Ziana. Ziana cleared my acne but the other products have had maybe alil improvement.
