When I'm sick, I like to chow down on saltine crackers. However, the salt and refined flour is not a good combo for acne. I have been eating whole wheat toast with coconut oil, but it's a bit too heavy. Is there something better I can use as a cracker substitute? eusa_think.gif

I stopped using topicals for about four or five months and the persistent BP-induced redness in my face finally decreased. My acne, however, flared up and began to scar, and didn't let up until I just started using a natural serum with witch hazel, tea tree oil, aloe and salicylic acid (among other things).

I have been using the serum for two weeks now, and my face is beginning to get an unnatural red "mask" again and feels slightly burnt. It gets worse when I smile or laugh.

I am washing my face with a gentle all-natural cleanser twice per day, moisturising with a Vitamin E oil blend in the morning, and applying a very small amount of the serum at night while my face is wet. How can I alter my regimen to reduce this annoying redness?

I got a free sample of chia seeds with the coconut oil I ordered, and had never heard of eating them before. Apparently they are great sources of Omega-3s, protein and fiber, as well as decent sources of calcium and iron, and are "safer" than flaxseed. They also help to regulate blood sugar, which could be beneficial for acne sufferers as well. Has anyone here tried these seeds for acne?

How much is clear skin worth to you? How much do you spend on gels and goops, facials, acne-safe food, supplements, dermatologists appointments and prescription medications each month? Is it your money or your parents'?

I've been trying to rationalize spending money on acne treatments that barely work when that money could be used in much better ways. It seems insane to have to spend over $40 a month for an indefinite period of time in order to get something resembling normal skin, and I'm starting to think it's not worth the cost.

Thoughts?

So I've been having all sorts of fun digestive issues lately on top of fairly bad acne, and am thinking that my gut really needs to do some healing after the two rounds of antibiotics I did several months ago. I'd like to make my own kefir, but I don't know where to start. Does kefir really help with digestion? Would culturing the kefir grains in coconut milk or coconut water produce as much good bacteria as growing them in goat's milk does? I'm still a bit wary of the hormones in dairy.
