If you want or need an acne prescription, see a doctor and get it legally. If you get prescriptions illegally online you could easily hurt yourself or waste your money.
- Independent studies have been performed on the sale of Internet-bought prescriptions. Often the prescription contains no active ingredient, little active ingredient, or in a worst case scenario toxic amounts of active ingredient.
- Drugs bought without a prescription can actually be a completely different compound from what the buyer intends.
Acne.org prohibits the illegal trade of any form of drug or prescription drug. If you see a post from someone selling a prescription, please report it immediately. Thanks.

I just got prescribed 500 mg tetracycline pills to take twice a day, everyday.
From what I have gathered, the typical side effects are increased sensitivity to the sun (like almost any acne treatment) and possibility of stomach aches (usually avoided if taken with food).
My questions are:
-Can you take an antibiotic longterm successfully, or is immunity to it inevitable?
-Did you become immune to Tetracycline?
-If you become immune to antibiotics and keep switching to different ones, will becoming immune to all these antibiotics affect your health in any other way (ie. make you more susceptible to infections or make any infections, including acne, harder to treat)?
-I have mild inflammatory acne, since I am on retin-a also. How well has this Tetracycline worked to treat your acne & what kind do you have?
-I already plan to give Tetracycline 3 months time to work...is that reasonable? My derm seems to think after 2 months I will see improvement.
-Did you have an initial breakout with Tetracycline?
Thanks!

Hi there,
I suffer with lower back pain, been on accutane for almost 6 weeks now. I run about 30kms a week and have had to cut down on the amount of running I normally do because of mainly sore hip joints. I also have sore muscles in my legs, but it's not that bad. The sore hip joints however are seriously painful. I was wondering what the accutane actually does to give one this side effect.. maybe I could treat it. Anyone?
I take omega 3 twice a day and it doesnt' seem to be of much help.

I received eight treatments with the Aramis laser at Celibre, for a condition which the laser is not approved for. They proceeded in an ill-advised and reckless manner to permanently alter the skin. After this experience with Celibre, I am considering a suit against Dr *Moderator edit - name removed* who maintains a separate practice off site but has founded the business (There are no MDs administering treatments or overseeing them on a daily basis). If you have suffered any form of damage from treatments at Celibre or Dr. *Moderator edit - name removed*, please give complete details of your experience here.

So I just got prescribed 100MG pills once a day. I am really cautious about taking them, I want my acne to be gone so bad, but after reading reviews some really scare me. I mean...Throat closing? Bloody hell I rather not die over acne, I am just not sure if I should take this. Any info would help a bunch.
I also have picking up a Cetaphil bar soap that was reccomended and have got Retin - A to apply topically.

Hi everyone
This is only my second post, so hello to everybody

My first ever dermatologist gave me Duac 2 months ago to spot treat (I'm 27 and have mild to moderate acne on my jawline and chin/around the mouth).
I'm finding Duac can seriously stop spots from becoming full-fledged horror stories - it seems to stop the alot of the little buggers from flaring up fully if I catch them in time. HOWEVER - i notice after apply it - within about half an hour and often for the remainder of the day, the area I apply it sort of aches? It's almost a throbby sort of ache, and doesn't seem to be related to the pimple itself- it's more of a general sort of area ache. Does anyone else using Duac experience this or something similar?

Right hey guys i've been reading reviews on treatments for a long time but i have not made a post before so yeh
Well i have my first appointment with a dermatologist tomorrow after trying many types of antibiotics and topicals i am finally at that stage where i am going to ask to go on roaccutane, i am aware of the risks and have been researching it for a long time.
I was wondering afew things:
How would i go about asking to get on roaccutane?
If the derm agrees that i am a suitable candidate for accutane where does it go from there? Will I Get the prescription on the day?
Would blood tests be made on the day of my dermatologist appointment if there will be any and is it true you have to avoid eating for 24 hours before them?
What sort of tests would the dermatologists do apart from blood tests to make sure you are healthy for roaccutane?
Would the NHS be reluctant to give me roaccutane, I'm 16 and still growing so could that cause some problems?
Hope you guys can help me out and i'll be very grateful for your answers.

I am currently on Solodyn 1 90 mg pill at night , Duac (BP/Cylindamcin 1 percent) in the morning, and Trenition at night. Trenition I have been on 3 months. I have been on the solodyn and duac for a month now, no changes in my results.
The trenition retin A has made me break out consistentlyyyyy. Where as before I would only break out once a month. I have been consistently breaking out for the past 3 months now. I heard I should wait another 2 months before my final alternative is accutane. You think this regime will work for me? I have pretty oily skin and all these prescriptions aren't even drying it out.

My doctor prescribed a topical clindamycin cream (clindasol) for the papules and pustules around my mouth. But I've been using it for a week (not a long time, I know) and I'm having way more p&p's than before =( I didn't think an antibiotic would cause purging. I am going to keep using this stuff for another month, but I hope I'm not bothering my skin with it. I have had one huge pustule come to a big, painful head and I don't know what to do with it.

Hello,
At the beginning of October, I saw a dermatologist for the first time about my acne. I've been using the Dan Kern Regimen for more than 2 years, but wanted to go to the next level of clear. At that point I had at any given time probably one, infrequently two, pimples that I wished would disappear. Not that I didn't have more that could be seen at a reasonable distance, but I mean ones that I felt really detracted from my appearance (and sense of self-worth).
I was prescribed 75 mg minocycline, to take twice daily, and .025% tretinoin. The mino was for my back, which is now as clear as it was before it became a problem out of nowhere ~6 months ago (for a year i was dating a girl and had no bacne whatsoever, either as a coincidence or because i was probably less stressed out and had 'happier' hormones in me than i do now as a 23 year old single working guy).
After a week or so of struggle and indecision about giving up BP, on October 11th I decided to stick to a strict tretinoin regime (which i should have done in the first place anyway, after all I paid a doctor right?) . I currently wash morning and night with Basis soap, in the morning I moisturize with AHA SPF-15 Neutrogena Healthy Skin face lotion, and in the evening I apply a pea-and-a-half sized amount of tret. Careful as always, just like with BP, though it's a little different as this is a cream instead of a gel.
11 days later and I am upset. My forehead, which i don't even remember having acne BEFORE i went on BP, is peppered with tiny but reddened pimples. A very few (5-6) across my forehead have the appearance of black/dried blood (very small, but emphasizes the "pepper" affect). Not "blackheads" in the sense to which I am accustomed. The rest of my face is also pretty bad. I notice that I don't have any BIG ones, like i would get before BP and very occasionally while on BP, but i have a LOT of little ones, which is pretty much as bad. My face is quite noticeably worse than it was prior to my giving up BP.
I know that Tretinoin can take a while to work, and that people report getting worse before they get better. But how do i know if i'm not just getting worse due to stopping BP? Also, apparently this derm is so busy that the next available appointment which fits my work schedule is in the first week of December (he wanted me in the first week of november but i had to reschedule). How do I know if he wasn't going to take one look at me in November and suggest I go up to a higher than .025% tret? Some people use .05 or even higher!
i am sticking it through, but i would love it if anyone would give me encouragement or post anything, really...thank you

I know that it would cause dryness, flaking , irration and etc. but would applying alot of retin-a make you even more sensitive to the sun than just applying a thin layer??
I been applying alot more than a pea sized amount of retin-a for a while now.
also is retin-a safe for long term use? long term meaning years

my acne is not severe but the problem is I grow one pimple each day before i take the accutane. It was like a routine for me. My question is does anyone have acne during their last week of accutane. I have been taking accutane for almost half year and the acne coming back in this week. I wonder if it work on me or not.

It's the 6th day I've been on Differin & Clenia, my face and neck are flaking and peeling. My shirts look like I have bad dandruff, but it's coming from my face and neck. The back of my neck looks like I have a rash and is itchy too. What should I do about this redness and flaking/peeling? Thanks.
Btw, before I apply the Differin or Clenia, I wash my face with Clean & Clear Sensitive Skin Deep Action Cream Cleanser, should I use that? or another wash? Also, today the flaking was so bad that I used some Proactiv Solution Oil Free Moisturizer SPF 15. Didn't work that much, face still flaked/peeled.

I've seen all these commercials on tv for Yaz, but they're so annoying that it never hit me that its a 24 day active cycle, so a 4 day period. I'm on Yasmin and I break out pretty bad during my period. It makes sense that if I only had a 4 day period, id break out less, right? Has anyone tried Yaz? I know it has drsp. Is it supposed to be the same anti-acne drug as Yasmin?

i need some opinions and reasoning on whether bcp or antibiotics or birth control is better, safer, more effective, and works long-term
right now antibiotics are clearing me up quite nicely, but i've been very sick lately and don't know if these are helping my immune system out very much
then again, i'm a teenager, and i am hoping (praying) that i grow out of this soon
i don't want to mess my system up and end up having adult acne if antibiotics will clear me up until i grow out of it
but i also don't want resistance
retin-a has pretty much cleared up my face, i'm worried more about body acne
my acne also does not seem to flare up during hormonal spikes, and it is like ALL OVER my body so i feel like bxp wont work for me
any feedback would be greatly appreciated
thanks
peace and love

I have extremely oily skin. I have tried Retina A, and a sulfur wash. Neither one helped with the oil, they only made my pores appear smaller. My dermatologist suggested I take Isotretinoin (accutane). She said it will shrink my oil glands in my skin. I looked online and haven't seen any result to use this for treatment of oily skin. I am aware of the side affects and pregnancy risks. If this will help me with my oily skin then I am willing to take it. Any advise? Thank you

Ok so I was on Retin-A and it was working fine. I just went to the dermatologist to get a prescription and maybe something for my red marks. Well she only spent literally like 2 minutes with me and prescribed me doxycycline and Duac, which totally ruins my regimen. She didn't even give me instructions or anything. I felt robbed and taken advantage of. $50 for shitty service?

So, having those two meds, how would you use them? All I know is that I need to use Duac in the morning, but I'm so used to using Retin-A at night and feel like I'm dependent on it. Will Duac in the morning alone be enough or should I add something more to my regimen at night? Please help! Thanks.
EDIT: I don't need help with doxycycline. That's just a pill so it's pretty self explanatory.

Hey Everyone-
I have really mild yet persistant acne...I mean like only a few zits at a time...
I've tried...the topicals and now I'm on accutante (40mg 1st month, 60 2nd month)
Anyways, I'm half way through my second month and I'm not seeing any results...how long does this take?...does it take longer with patients with mild acne?...also i heard that patients with mild acne are more inclined to need a second treatment...is this true?...anybody have any info on this?
also, is there anyway to some color while on accutane?...im usually a very tan person but i havent seen the sun in like 2 months and my spots are showing much more now than before.
I dunno, just thought since i read this board so much maybe i should contribute my own experience...
thanks everyone

Hey all:
I'm currently on minocycline and I have some bad side effects (confusion, agitation to the point where I'm useless, nervousness), worst of all, it seems to be counter productive. I'm curious about the cost of accutane w/out insurance? and can someone compare the side effects between mino and the tane?

I've been on the regimen for about 1 and a half years now, and while it has helped a ton, I don't think it is potent enough to get rid of my acne completely. I would say I have around moderate to severe acne. I was considering getting accutane, but I heard that it can close growth plates and stop growth. I'm only 15 years old and I'm short as hell anyway so I don't want to risk it. What is the next best thing to accutane that is safe for a 15 year old male to take? I'd rather it be able to be used in conjunction with the DKR, but if the product in question is really, REALLY good, I'm willing to make an exception.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've been on Tretinion cream .025% for 3-1/2 weeks now and my skin is purging itself beyond belief. Before starting this treatment, the acne was way below the surface (cystic) and rarely came to a head.
Now, I find I have 4-7 whiteheads per day. My skin is thinning, and even washing ever-so gently will make the pimples pop... I do NOT pop them intentionally! My skin is so sensitive w/ the tretinion that they pop on their own.
Excuse my grossness, but after I wash my face I have a few exposed "puss-sacks" (for lack of a better term) sitting in my pores. There is not an overlying layer of skin over these - I can literally pull them out with ease.
MY QUESTION: Is this an ok thing to do? I can't imagine leaving them in would be much better, considering the "sacks" would probably break open, leaving half in my skin to get further infected.
What am I supposed to do once I pull them out and I have a gaping hole in my face? I've been applying benzamycin (topical antibiotic & BP) to help hinder any further infection, but I don't know if this is the best method.
Help?!?!?? What do you do when a pimple pops on its own?

Here's my face after using tretinion after 3-1/2 weeks of use.
I feel like a total freak... I just want to stay home and hide! I'm so depressed and self-conscious.
I guess I need encouragement, feedback, or confirmation of how terrible I look.
Man, this sucks.
