What's the difference? My derm prescribed "5% Benzoyl Peroxide Aqueous Solution".

What is an aqueous solution? Is it made differently than OTC stuff? Any significant advantages? I find it hard to believe that prescription companies could make a profit off something that you can buy OTC for ~$3 in Wal-mart. There must be some difference.

So what separates Benzac AC, Brevoxyl, Benzagel, etc etc from say Clearasil or Oxy?

Thanks!

I don't know. When I went to the dermatologist. He said if our insurance wouldn't cover the cost to the prescribed BP to just go to the grocery because it's the same.

But I'm not sure if yours prescribed some amazing BP or something different than what mine prescribed.

I used over the counter BP and it helped but then got worse. My derm prescribed Triaz wash which is 9% or something. Real strong. But I'd been to her and we'd started at 6% and gone up. SO far Triaz has really helped me. The difference is probably that over the counter is weaker in strength, I'm just guessing.
