I get it, i have nasty mondo oily skin. But in my sleep too? I notice it when i wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, and in the morning. It's so bad. And theres nothing i can do, i'm sleeping. Why does it do this? This obviously leads to break outs.
And i still don't understand why i have such oily skin (im talking buckets of oil and hour after i rinse my face) because no one in my family has it. I use up to 10 oil blotting sheets a day. And they arent cheap! In fact, no one has ever had acne either. What the hell? Why am i so lucky?
Dangit, i posted this in the wrong forum. Sorry. Meant to put it in Mild to Moderate.

Okay folks. I had to recently stop a course of Accutane due to stomach pain. I had only taken 7 pills, but the abdominal pain was too much and freaking me out. (And yes, I took it with a big meal). Anyway, after my derm told me to stop taking that Accutane, I asked her to call me in Clenia wash and cream, which is a sulfur-based product.
I cannot believe, in the amount of time that I've been using it, how much it is controlling my oil. And I have OILY skin.
I highly doubt it's leftover accutane in my system, but I'll give this regimen another few weeks before I can say that definitely.
I had heard that Clenia helps control oil, but to this extent?
I just wanted to put my experience. I've only been using it for 6 days, but I'm astonished at how non-greasy my face is. Yesterday, I didn't blot one single time, and I usually blot every hour.
Also, my skin looks pretty decent as well, breakout-wise.
I'll update in a few days to see if this has continued to work. I'm just surprised, because I've heard that topicals can't do anything for sebum production.
Wouldn't it be nice if that wasn't the case?

I don't think my scalp is more oily than usual, my hair is on the dry side. But my neck/chest has oil, if I use a blotting paper I can see the oil, but it's not as bad as my face and I can't tell that my neck or chest is oily.
Insides of my ears are really oily too!
I'm such an oily person it's disgusting

My skin is dry (moisture-wise, and oil-wise), and I really dislike how a lot of moisturizers I try leave a greasy/filmy feeling on my skin. I'm thinking about trying Albolene cleanser (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=55331&catid=21462&crpg=2&tab=1), as it is supposedly quite moisturizing (especially as it is a wipe-off cleanser, so I won't need to use a moisturizer afterward), but I'm worried about breaking out from the mineral oil, paraffin, and petrolatum in it.
Has anyone used Albolene before (and if so, do you have moisture-/oil-dry skin?)? Did it make you break out/greasy?
Thanks in advance

<-2% salicylic acid pads
<-Ziana gel
That is what im currently using and my face is super oily!!!!!!!!!
Even when i use blotting papers to get my oil off my face i feel it coems back faster!
My face is usually always dry when i wake up and i usually use cetaphil to get rid of flaks but it makes my face so shinyyyyyyy

Hey has anyone used this product yet, Alpaflor Alp-Sebum. I've been keeping an eye on it for a few months checking when it would be available for use. Its from an overseas (Swedish, i think) company that's made other well known products as well.
Now its available for sampling (professional use), so has anyone used this product? Any overseas members? Really interested to see if this will give some type of hope and help to those that suffer from real oily skin. Thanks.

I was thinking we should make a (black)list of skin products that increase oiliness when used constantly/daily over a longer period of time (two or more weeks at least). Hopefully the list will be helpful and get pinned.
Here's my contribution
- Hot water

- PG (Propylene Glycol)
- PEG (Polyethylene Glycol)
- SLS (Sodium laureth sulfate)
- Tea tannin
- ACV (apple cider vinegar)

Before I had acne I had normal skin, never oily. It's not that I just didn't notice it before because this is unmistakeable. It's to the point where I look in the mirror and my nose is actually glistening with drops of oil. My entire face looks greasy and terrible and has gotten worse within the past month, and it only gets better for an hour or two if I use cleanser.
Should I be concerned that my skin is this oily when it never has been a problem before? By the way I am 20, and it only started getting noticeable oily this summer, but I started getting acne only in Sept 08 and then my skin wasn't oily. I thought it could be humid weather, but I don't recall this last summer.
What I am asking is, could this be a sign of something serious? I really have no idea why I started getting acne, and this oily skin just makes it worse. Should I see my GP?
PLEASE respond.

I'm looking for something to control my very oily skin and was wondering if a toner from like Proactive or Paulas Choice would help control it more. If not, what would you suggest?? I currently use Cerave cleanser and moisturizer and Paulas Choice BHA in the morning and Differin at night.

My nose will get really sweaty/oily (not sure which) all the time. I will get little droplets of sweat on my nose and it's very noticeable. It has been doing this for several years. The reason why I think it's probably sweat and not oil is because I'm currently on my fourth month of accutane and it's continued to do this throughout my course, where as the rest of my face has dried out a bit. Does anyone know what might be causing this and how I could get it to stop?

Just wondering.
My acne is caused by my severely oily skin, and I know one of the only ways to overcome this problem is Accutane. I tried megadosing b5, which didn't help much. And I don't think there are any products that permadently reduce sebum.
Any input is realllllllllly appreciated. (:

I'm starting to come to the conclusion that I break out on my forehead because it's such an oily area. That perhaps is the sole reason. And I really have no idea where to start in terms of getting rid of this excess oil. Please point in the right direction.

After years of dealing with oily skin, I am now doing something to help myself and possibly others who suffer with the same greasy inconvenience. I am designing a treatment that will effectively combat an extremely oily or shiny complexion.
Here's a breakdown of the characteristics I would like to see such a product possess:
Has a spreadable consistency. Goes on smooth, with a gel/cream texture.
Instantly mattifies the skin, taking away shine as soon as you apply it.
Absorbs oil and keeps the skin matte for as long as humanly possible. Target is around 6-12 hours.
Acts as a sunblock. SPF 15-30.
Is sweat, water, and rub resistant. Meaning it won't wear off during strenuous activities.
Can be worn on top of your daily moisturizer and under makeup.
Is invisible on the skin making it useful for both men and women.
What I need from you is input. Please list any other characteristics you would like to see in such a product. All coments or suggestions are welcome.

I ask this question, because they say you have the most active sebucious (spelling?) glands on your face, chest and back - however i don't have any over active oil on my chest and back at all, but just my face is incredibly oily.
Now i have never used any treatment gels, washes etc on my chest and back, but only on my face - could this be a reason for me having oily skin just on my face????
It just seems a little odd that if the sebacious gland is most active in these areas shouldnt my chest and top of back be oily aswell???
Im 20 now, so im hoping the sebucious gland should be calming down a bit now - and my face really got oily as it is today about 4 years ago.
I hope you can help me with this.

I quit using any moisturizers and cleansers. Just water three times a day.
I have a perfect diet and some supplements (including B5 that I think I'm going to quit), I just eat too many fruits... That's the only imperfect thing about my diet.
My acne: while I was using a cleanser and a moisturizer, I got big pimples and big breakouts (moderate). Now I only get whiteheads on my forehead, nose and lately around my mouth. I have a oily skin, it get's really oily after I do something, like go out and walk. If I work out oil or sweat starts to POUR out my forehead which is kinda weird. I also feel hot in a room where everyone else feels normal, I just normally get those feelings and start sweating like a monkey. What is up with that? I'm almost 20 by the way.
I have kinda given up on diet and supplements. I've been doing a light treatment for a week now which doesn't work either.
I'm thinking about moving to another location because everything that is happening to me is caused by the environment, but I just can't figure it out. Is there really no way to beat it? It's a period on life that should end in 20s I guess, but I want to fight it just don't know how. Accutane is probably next.

Hello everyone,
I had a bad case of impetigo (and conjuctivitis) on my face. I picked it up somewhere while I was camping. It came overnight and owned my face badly. In the start, doctors were puzzled over what it could be but thankfully I ignored corticosteroid ointments they prescribed and went for antibacterial immediately. Doctors tried to convince me I had an allergy
After two weeks of using antibacterial I am well again. But... there are some side effects. First, the anti bacterial was Mupirocin. In the side effects it mentioned my skin could feel like "needles were stinging me". I experienced that. It was very severe the first three nights, I could barely sleep at all.
On the third day I noticed my skin became very oily and shiny. There were little pools of oily substance on my face. Now two weeks have passed since I stopped using it and my skin is still oily. I have never seen this in my life. Something is very wrong here, and I don't know how to prevent it. I'm 26 years old, never had problems with acne or oily skin. Not even in puberty. I don't have problems with my skin on other body parts.
The problem is I am afraid the bacterial infection will return in these skin conditions if I don't get it back to normal again. Currently my regime is the same as it was before, wash my face in the morning (sometimes in evening as well) and that's it
Thanks for your help

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Modified Corn Starch, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Zinc PCA, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Anisate, Silica, Calcium Silicate, Sclerotium Gum, Citric Acid.
I've been using this for the past few days since I ran out of the regular primer, and I saw this product on their self in the mall. I really like this primer, it keeps the oil on my skin under control compared to their normal primer. Although it doesn't prevent all the oils on the face, it does a good job for the entire day. Usually I would use 2 oil blotting sheets bu the end of the day, and it felt disgusting. My cousin asked why I was sweating once under a soft light, of course I wasn't, and the shine he was seeing was oil... I bit embarrassing. What is cool is that this primer goes in with a refreshing feeling. It's not as smooth as the normal primer, might just need to wait a little longer, but I find it to be great! I hope BE doesn't discontinue this product. Even though the product is sensitive to some people's skin, Sephora is promoting a new BE foundation that doesn't contain bismuth.
Anyways I hope this comes in handy to people looking for something to control their oil. It hasn't broken me out at all. I'm getting closer to being clear

Ok so I was on DIane-35 which was wonderful for oily skin but ever since I stoped bc it was giving me migraines I have had the WORST oily skinI have ever had.
I dont think this is only a reaction to going off the pills since I have gone off them before and its never been this bad. Could it also be a reaction to the differin? All day even if I give my skin a break from differin and duac for a couple of days its wet and disgusting with oil. I blot and its just as bad an hour later.
What do I do? Please give me advice, I just saw pictures taken from this weekend and I look disgusting, Im so embarrassed

So I'm really trying to get rid of this oily skin ASAP and so far nothing gives me overwhelming results.
I can't wait for the day I no longer need blotting sheets.
So I was thinking since Milk of Magnesia works considerably well,
what if I just wore that under and SPF all day?
Or just and SPF?
Or nothing on my face at all?
Would this be dangerous considering my face is really never 100% fully exposed to the sun and I'm mostly indoors at any given time.
Any advice,
feedback,
suggestions?
Oh btw,
I'm currently using Neutrogena Healthy Skin w/ SPF 15
and waiting to try out Complex 15 once I get it in the mail.
