I eat around 4 slices of whole wheat bread a day (it's not white bread, it contains flax seeds, and seems to be quite healthy if I look at the nutritional values).
Can I still eat that?
Problem is, if I don't, that's 20g less of protein and 8g of fat less per day. I can become very skinny quickly (I weighted around 125lbs for a long time, I'm 5'8", and not managed to go up at 132lbs and maintain that weight thanks to exercise and eating more).
I eat natural peanut butter with the bread so if I can't eat bread I'll eat it with a spoon:p

There are so many threads, that claim, masturbation causes acne. Yeah the two things are related somehow. But masturbation-abstinence also causes acne on me, and excessive causes too. So guys, who believe in this thing, just try to do it 1-2 times a week. It's a good balance, and it works awesome!

Write your experiences about it!

Regimen:
Anti-candida Diet: (no sugar, alcohol, soy, yeast, fungi, gluten, lactose, preservatives, and hormones/pesticides from food sources. going organic is key!)
-the daily food consumption ratio should be 60% fat: 30% protein: 10% carbohydrate.
-sources of fat are from extra virgin coconut oil, clarified butter, extra virgin olive oil (not used for cooking), avocados, animal products such as omega-3 eggs, chicken, turkey, fish, and occasionally beef or pork.
-sources of protein are from the animal products listed above including some vegetable proteins.
-sources of carbohydrates are from vegetables such as romaine lettuce, spinach, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, yellow/summer squash, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, unpasteurized sauerkraut, celery, cucumbers, asparagus, avocado, garlic, and a few other low GI foods.
Supplements:
-anti-parasite (used for 1 month)
-anti-yeast/fungal (used for 2 months)
-calcium & magnesium (still using daily)
-b-50 complex (still using daily)
-omega-3 EFA (still using about 3 grams daily)
-vitamin E (still using daily)
-vitamin D (still getting about 20 minutes of sun daily. please use sunscreen!)
-vitamin C (still using daily)
-bragg's unfiltered apple cider vinegar (1 teaspoon with every meal)
-extra virgin coconut oil (1-2 tablespoons with every meal)
-water (filtered using reverse osmosis or mineral water. don't use tap water because it's typically chlorinated. drink at least 5 cups per day.)
-probiotics (used after initial 3 months and still using daily)
Topicals: (wash problematic areas once or twice daily. do not excessively wash your skin!)
-cetaphil gentle skin cleanser
-nucelle mandelic acid cream complex (use as directed to avoid overdrying your skin causing flakiness or cracking)
-acne.org moisturizer (recently switched to Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing Lotion)
Detox:
-senna leaf, psyllium husk, and bentonite clay colon cleanse (done once before each liver flush)
-dr. hulda clark liver flushes (used after initial 2 months. flush once or twice every month until skin is clear. i did a total of three flushes and still continue to flush once every 6 months because it keeps me light on my toes lol.)
Exercise:
-walking (start during the second month since you'll have a lack of energy for the first month)
-mild exercise or light weights (start towards the end of the second month once energy levels return)
-moderate exercise or weights (start towards the end of the third month if you have the energy for it)
Schedule:
-month 1: start diet, supplements without probiotics, and topicals.
-month 2: continue diet, supplements without probiotics, topicals, and start walking.
-month 3: continue diet, supplements without probiotics, topicals, increase walking to mild exercise, and start detoxing.
-month 4: continue diet, supplements, topicals, mild/moderate exercise, continue detoxing if necessary, and start probiotics.
-month 5: continue everything except detoxing. you can stop detoxing at this point if you'd like.
-month 6: go out to a club and possibly get laid using your sexy new face! lol
Results:
-month 0: before this regimen, my skin was oily and swollen with mostly cystic acne and the occasional whitehead. I had acne on my forehead, cheeks, nose, chin, jawline, sides and back of my neck, shoulders, back, and chest.
-month 1: during the first month, my acne became slightly worse than usual (if that's even possible with how bad my skin was).
-month 2: my skin started becoming less oily and swelled, and i noticed my pores were actually becoming less visible. my acne started to clear around my forehead, nose, chest, shoulders, and back.
-month 3: my skin was normal and didn't feel oily at all, but it wasn't overdried. I still had some residual redness from past acne, but I hadn't seen any new acne forming except around my chin and mouth. my acne was clear around my forehead, chest, shoulders, back, and had stopped forming on my jawline and neck.
-month 4: my skin still felt normal with small pores (damn right!). all acne was cleared or had stopped forming except the residual redness from acne i had around my mouth from the previous month.
-month 5: everything was looking clear, and I hadn't had any new acne at all until I decided to sway from the diet and drank three beers and a vodka redbull while watching football at a party. the next day I woke up with a pimple on my neck (right over where my lymph nodes are located on the side) and one on my chin. I made sure to be very strict about the regimen for the next week, and it all cleared up.
-month 6: completely clear! this is the month I'm at right now, and I'm still sticking to the regimen, but now I'm trying to figure out how I can drink alcohol when I go out without breaking out the following day. I'm considering making kefir wine using water kefir with 100% organic grape juice, so I'll have to see if that works out okay.
-----------------------
Anyhow, that's how things turned out for me. Thanks for everyone that put the time into posting tons of useful information on this message board because it all helped with organizing this personal regimen that helped me achieve this happiness.
For further information on products I used while on this regimen, you can send me a personal message, and I'll typically respond within a day or two.
If you decide to try this out, then make sure to be persistent, determined, and strong willed to stick to the regimen, and I hope you get your own great results.

I have been suffering from adult acne for about 2 years. This is my story so far.
I’m sure most people suffering from severe acne probably have tried soooo many different types of remedies it’s hard to keep track. So, I will try to make my story as simple as possible. I never had a problem with acne growing up. Little break outs when I was a teenager, but nothing major.
After graduating from college, I went on Lexapro (a medication for anxiety). A few months after taking it, I started to develop terrible cystic acne along my jaw line. After figuring out it was the Lexapro, I stopped taking it and it gradually faded. I never got 100% better, but I had improved.
About 5 months later, it came back with a vengeance. It started out as cystic and just got worse and worse. After trying various topicals, I decided to go internal. I started with my diet (my normal diet was pretty much like a regular American, terrible). I basically went on an anti-candida diet. No sugar, bread, yeast. Mostly meat and veggies. No noticeable improvement. My health declined. I could barely walk up stairs from weakness.
After about 5 months, I decided to take a different approach. I went the complete opposite and went raw vegan. I ate tons of fresh fruit and veggies, mostly raw. No gluten. I was making a HUGE green smoothie every morning and night. The rest of body really improved, but my acne condition just kept getting worse. At this point the acne was EVERYWHERE on my face but nowhere else on my body. Every pore looked clogged and inflamed. I also changed by face cleansing routine as basic as possible. I barely wash my face, and when I do, it’s with the oil-cleansing method.
I started going to a naturopathic doctor to try to find a solution without harsh chemicals. I started focusing on detox of the liver and kidneys. I was doing skin brushing, hot/cold water therapy, and castor oil packs on my abdomen. I also started taking supplements (Vitamin Code Women’s Vitamin, 50mg of zinc, 3000 mg of fish oil daily). After about 3 months with only slight improvement, I decided to get a blood test of EVERYTHING possible to see if that could tell me anything. At this point, I had really let go of trying to find a cure myself.
The weekend before the blood test, I got really sick from drinking one too many (I usually don’t drink) and spent the majority of the day hunched over the toilet. When I was able to keep food down, all I ate was plain toast and drink warm water.
Considering I probably was technically poisoned, the next day, my face was noticeably clearer. OOOOOOOkkk. How is that even possible? I completely over-loaded my body with toxins and I look better. WTF.
So the next day I resumed my normal diet except for one small change. I made my green smoothie out of a small amount of strawberries, blueberries and dandelion greens. No bananas, no dates. I only had it in the morning and ate a regular vegan dinner. No more fruit for the rest of the day.
It has been three days and my face looks completely different. No new pimples, the existing ones fading. Inflammation of my pores is non-existent. I can actually feel skin on my face!! After over a year of suffering, within a few days I look like a different person.
Now I am not saying it was anything specific, like the dandelion greens. I think it was related to blood sugar and inflammation. When I went on my first diet change, the anti-candida diet, my blood sugar was probably pretty stable, but my inflammation was through the roof from all the meat and eggs I was consuming. Plus, I don’t think meat agrees with me and I feel so much better not eating it.
When I switched to raw vegan, all the fruit I was eating was causing my blood sugar to spike and also many fruits like bananas (I was eating about 6 a day) are inflammatory. This could explain why it was getting so bad.
As soon as I calmed down on the inflammatory fruits (the rest of my diet is very anti-inflammatory) it was ridiculous how fast my skin changed. Like I said, I’m not using any topicals on my face and I no longer use soap.
If you are in a similar situation and haven’t tried an anti-inflammatory diet, what do you have to lose? Try it for a few days and see what happens. I can’t believe that this is all it took for me after everything I have been through.
I haven’t seen my blood test results yet, so I’m waiting to see if they show anything. I will try to give an update in a few days if things continue to improve or not.
Please feel free to ask questions. I know I was not very descriptive because I don’t want to bore everyone to death. I am also planning on posting some pics soon to show the difference.

The following is from a natural health column in the this weeks Sunday Times Style magazine by Susan Clark (www.whatreallyworks.co.uk) where she tackles adult acne.
For outside she recommends ActivClear by Nutrica, which includes tea tree oil and zinc.
For inside, and this is the bit I never heard of, she recommends Tejaswini, an ayurvedic (indian) mixture of 10 herbs that can help purify blood, and release toxins.
One herb included, triphala, is the best natural remedy for clearing toxins from the gut.
Apparently it costs £10 for thirty capsules.
Anyone tried it? Would love to know as it seems to have appeared from nowhere.

Here's to 10 years of acne gone! I made this thread to help those who are suffering like I was in any way I can. And also, of course, to share what I did. Sorry it took so long to make it, in fact it took what, about 5 months? I just had to be sure it wasn't a fluke, or I grew out of it, and that I had it under complete control while testing everythin
ng. Testing takes quite a while

. But now I can feel good and secure about making this thread now that it's over officially.
History: I would like to thank all of acne.org for finally making this happen. Before coming to this site, I was a typical person who thought the idea of acne and diet was rather silly. I used to believe that the body process that dealt with acne had no relation to diet, especially because my parents never told me about it. You don't know what you don't read or see.
After coming here I began reading, slowly believing, still skeptical. I tried the whole "diet thing" and I realized that there were subtle correlations. First came with fish oil, that's when I knew, that acne was going to be over through DIET, but something was missing! So I kept trying various regimens but it all just felt too confusing because they were so different! I kept experimenting though, one thing after another. I would add in one vitamin, take one out, add a herb, experiment with different foods, stop eating certain foods, wondered about allergies, sensitivities. It even went on with topicals, and very strange things that I would rather not even mention lol! I tried near everything. Everything from Digestive enzymes to indian herbs to weird trends and th en some.
Nothing made sense anymore. I researched to no end, almost to the point where I could find evidence that everything caused acne and cured acne too. I got fed up. If I followed everything, I would be left with water and fiber! lol
In fact,
acne got so bad at one point because of all the crazy things I was trying that it ended up becoming severe. I remember after starting Saw Palmetto, my acne got really bad. To the point that people were asking me what was wrong with me and they were scared and worried! That was the low point of my life. I even went to the doctor and was given some antibiotics. At that point I felt I gave up on life and it was my lowest point, ever. I felt/looked/and was horrible. I took it for a while but stopped because I knew I had to do this myself. So thankfully my prayers were answered!
So then I sat down and looked at it from a nutritional standpoint. I blocked all the noise. I focused on the basic aspects of what the body needs and what affects it the most. That's it! I knew that certain things affect only certain people so I left all that till the end. I just wanted to first be sure I got everything in my diet that I needed, and see where that took me. If I got better yet still had acne, I would then experiment by omitting certian foods.
But it made no sense to start with the small things that MAY cause acne for SOME people. So I started with the basics of nutrition. Because I am human, not an accumulation of minor problems from every person!
I also needed something fast, efficient, cheap, and effective because I couldn't go to the groceries every 3rd day and I had a huge family so my fridge was always full, barely any room for any more food.
Regimen:(
I am no way saying this is the cure for acne, I am just stating what helped me and listing out what I did in case anyone wants to try! I am well aware everyone may have different causes for acne)
So with all the research, I ensured that I would get all my vitamins and minerals necessary in relation to the skin. I also knew some vitamins SHOULD be paired with others and some should NOT be taken together.
This is what I did, and have been doing for the past 6 months now, with complete success
- Get 4 servings of extra virgin olive oil a day
- Take 1 serving of Twin Labs liquid cod liver oil a day.
- Take 1 serving of Carlson's liquid fish oil a day.
- Vitamins: B-complex, C, E
- Minerals: Zinc, Chromium, Calcium
- Omit Dairy! Way too many hormones
(links to purchasing location, prices, and images at the bottom of this post as well as
serving size information)
This is the order I take it in, and found to work the best. Make sure it's taken this way! A lot of them synergetically.
Meal 1 (morning): 2 servings of Extra virgin olive oil in my meal
Post meal: Carlson's fish oil (1 serving)
Supplements: C, E, B, Calcium
Meal 2 (evening): 2 servings of extra virgin olive oil in my meal
Post meal: Twin Labs non-emulsified cod liver oil
Supplements: Zinc, Chromium
Notes:-
Be sure to keep the liquid cod liver oil and liquid fish oil in the fridge!-Be sure to get a complete B complex like so
http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp...&id=prod614(This is the one I take, not sure if the time release matters)
-I buy all my vitamins from walgreens. I don't worry about chelated versions or any other fancy ones. These do just fine.
-
When measuring liquids, use a measuring cup! The type that comes with your cold medicine. 1 tsp = 5 ml. 1 tablespoon = 15 ml. Or use a measuring spoon! (they come in teaspoon measurements and tablespoon as well). but DO NOT use the spoon in the drawer that you eat with! Because one teaspoon (that you eat with) does not equal 5 ml! It's almost half. It's important to be sure you are taking the appropriate amounts, so do it right!)
The medicine measuring cups look like this
http://images.jupiterimages.com/common/det...47/23114706.jpgThe spoons look like this
http://images.google.com/images?q=measurin...sa=N&tab=wiUse either one
I eat more meals in a day, but I put meal 1 and 2 to show the two meals which I take all my supps/oils. You can also spread out the olive oil through the day. For instance, you can take 1 serving in the morning, 1 in the evening, and the rest with other meals you eat through the day.
But just be sure to take the fish body oils with those specified vitamins linked to them and don't switch and mix and match to your liking. They are paired that way since some of them work synergetically. So yeah that's basically it. There's tons and tons of research behind the reasoning to pair it like that and the research behind how each vitamin/mineral/oil actually works to regulate the processes of the skin (sebum, viscosity, dead skin, keratin, hormones, etc), but it's too much mumbo jumbo to write up. I'll post all the research in a separate link/thread and dump it all in there
Big thanks to everyone on acne.org that helped me along the way to understand, read, and research about the science of nutrition and how it all plays an integral role on the body!
I learned everything I know now because of you guys.If you want to see before/after pics just send me a PM, I would rather not post it on this thread but don't mind showing privately

In terms of what to actually eat, that is all going to be subjective since some people avoid certain things and not others.
And how do I know it was the diet? Because once I stray from my diet for a while or take something out, it begins to come back... so yes, I know. That's what took me so long to make this thread. I waited months because I needed to be 100% sure without a single doubt. Now I no longer stray from this regimen

. And it's quite easy! Once when I wake up, and once when I go to bed, done!
FAQ/Research:How much is a serving size?
For twin labs cod liver oil, a serving is 5 ml (one teaspoon). For carlson's fish oil it's 5 ml (one teaspoon). For the extra virgin olive oil, look on the back of the bottle which you purchase as each serving size is usually different. Usually it should be 15 ml (one tablespoon).
If you are not sure, look on the back of the bottle, it will tell you serving amount, and size.

Hi everybody,
I guess the topic title says it all. I normally eat Bread, both white and brown, in the morning and also at night. I really don't know what could replace this. Anyway, the reason I need a substitute is to see if it has been affecting my Acne, and prolonging my red marks.
Any answers would truly be most helpful! Thank you all very much.

Hey there, I have been on accutane for a little over 2 months now and I was wondering if masturbation effects the process of the accutane? This is a totally serious question. If I masturbate will it effect the overall effectiveness of the accutane?

you might want to check out the cupids poisoned arrow site...
interesting info on how orgasm messes with the body's dopamine cycle causing all kinds of internal problems with mood, relationships(could be drawing couples apart), and behavior- it might even be causing acne
"Dopamine is the intensely-exciting neurochemical behind all addictions. Orgasm is the biggest legal blast of dopamine that we can engineer"
there are neurochemical changes that lead up to, accompany, and follow orgasm.
"Orgasm produces a hangover that can last up to two weeks - however it occurs. During that time the discomfort of withdrawal can most easily pull you right back into your addiction. In other words, you end up in a repeating cycle of withdrawal symptoms, which never allow you to experience balanced brain chemistry and a natural sense of well-being."
"You may get better results by going through the misery of withdrawal once, and not going back into the cycle. This sounds impossible because as you read this you are in a withdrawal period and believe that your happiness depends upon your drug of choice (orgasm). One of the gifts of this practice is that your addiction to pornographic images will fade naturally. Those images are a powerful turn on because they lead to the "payoff" of orgasm. If you know you are not going for a climax, they will gradually lose their hold over you."

I need someone to help me guide me a little through these supplements. I don't exactly know if im taking the right amount, but here goes:
B Complex - 1 pill each day
Taurine 850mg - Before Lunch and Dinner
PGX x2 before Breakfast so I wont get an early bloodsugar spike
Zing 50 mg x1
C Vitamin i.e 1500 x1 each day. Should I take more of this?
Omega 3 Fish Oil 2x each day
D Vitamin i.e 400 x2 each day. I'm 18, so I can take like 1500-2000 i.e right?
Saw Palmetto x1 each day
Chromium x1
E Vitamin (it contains soya, so is it safe?) x1
Calc-D (Calcium, Magnesium)
Please tell me if there's more I can do to stabilize my bloodsugar andremove excess androgens. I've had great succes with my new flexible "diet", where i'm starting from scratch (lean meat, fish, vegetables, fresh fruits) and adding stuff over time (1 thing for 3 weeks etc).
I'm totally clear, and I would love to stay that way!

Thank you.

I am considering getting tested for certain food allergies. My whole life i have never been allergic to any food but i guess over time you can hence getting abrupt acne later in life.
My questions are:
Can a food allergy really cause acne and how soon?
How does this appointment work, as in what does the doctor do and how long does it take?
How accurate are they?
I am just tired of wondering all the time if certain foods i eat are triggering my re occuring acne or not, ive avoided them and still got acne but it is so spontaneous sometimes it is hard to judge if it affects it or not. Just doesnt make sense to me that it could trigger it a few days later.

Hi, if your face is still oily up the dosage, you can always lower it.One of you replied to me to have a chat with a derm, honey , thank you very much, but I'll just bet if you added up all the dermotologists I've seen in total, I would have a 2 inch thick file. I can't even imagine the total cost. I realized i never fully explained why I never told you all not to get lazor treatments. First off, its super deep, and what the plastic surgeon didn;t tell me was one, it causes worse acne" i found this out too late from a estititian, we read it from a huge text book as well, they coat your face in a thick petrolium jelly type burn cream the first few weeks, so imagine deep down getting really clogged pores that years later are still clogged, but also skin is so sensitive that all new skin will scar 1000% worse. Yesterday my skin was super dry so I tried a honey mask to sooth and it helped a bit and some cysts seemed to calm down, I also read that adding non flavored yogurt and lemon is helpful, so I am going to try that as well.Good luck to all of you, and again, thank you so much for replying to me. If anything changes for me I will post more. As for now, dammit, I have 3 new books and yesterday too blurry to read, so, I am really going on as long as I can, if it affects my job , I may have to stop.

Ketosis is basically when one consumes very low carbohydrates and high protein and moderate fats, forcing the body to use fats instead of carbohydrates for energy.
If the body was in ketosis wouldn't sebum be reduced since the body would be using the sebum it would have released on the skin for energy instead?
Sebum, is, afterall, basically "fat".

If i wanted to do a fruit/Green smoothie fast how long would be too long? How long can you safely consume only fruits/greens with maybe some almonds once in while?

I started consuming Activia for a totally different reason; was not a yogurt eater at all, so this was a BIG step. It helped me. I love it, eating more and more of it as time passes. However, my complextion was wonderful and beautiful with 4 to 8 ounces a day. As I got to the overwhelming amounts of 24 ounces in two days, my face started to break out. I cut back to my 4-8 ounces a day (mostly 8 ounces because I love it) and my face cleared up! I am a nurse, but cannot explain why this happened except that it was a metabolic change for my body. In any event, Activia does so much good for me including my complexion that I think eating it in moderation (as with everything) is great for you! Hope this information is helpful for those who have acne.

Ok will someone please inform me on how does dairy products, grains, and processed foods affect acne????
also what DAIRY products are we talking about here?? eggs? milk? cheese?
what GRAINS???.........just to let ya guys know i am currently just eating brown rice or just complex carbs....and lean protein sources such as chicken breast and tuna....
As a bodybuilder we need adequate protein and carbs to recover and build muscle tissue from strenuous workouts....

I can not believe I am typing this post. After almost two decade of acne and one decade of Roaccutane my acne is finally almost gone.
The culprit was milk. Yes, I know, can hardly believe it? I am not sure if it is milk, the hormones in milk or the chemicals in their diet.
I have been off milk for nearly 6 weeks now + 4 weeks off all meds. I have zero body acne and my face is 85% clear.
This is bitter and sweet victory. I have been through everything and it was the simplest thing that was destroying my happiness and health.
I will admit I have always been a huge milk drinker; 2 litres of full cream milk every week... I also eat cheese and yogurt. I have also cut cheese out of my diet but sticking with the yogurt for the moment. I wonder if the yogurt accounts for the remaining 15% of my acne.
All I can say is if you are planning on going on serious meds, please try the 'no dairy' diet for 4 weeks. It might save you a lot of grief.

right i am about 85% clear now ! wooo, went for a hypersensitivity test and it pulled up results that i am sensitive to
tomato
dairy
chicken
peas
onions
wheat
(so basically everything i was chomping down day in day out...)
its been a week since i have cut tomatos and seem to be better for it !
and dairy i pretty much illminated a long time back.
ANYWAY!!!!
this post is about my acne/weight/training
basically am I safe to start taking creatine/protein/weight gainer....
i am 22 yr old and weigh 63kg (10 stone) at 6ft tall
i want to reach 11 stone. i feel i am lacking in the weight department. I am toned but i want some bulk to it you know?
anyway. i dont want to start tanking whey protein creatine and then to experience a break out otherwise i wont no if its because of the creatine or protein (whey)
plus i need to see how i go with taking out tomato's otherwise i will have no idea if it effects me or not.
so just want some solid advice on how i am going to gain this weight when my diet seems to be holding me back

basically out of the blue this summer at age 31 i started suffering from moderate acne (10-15 pimples at a time) ONLY on my forehead.
been struggling through a lot of dietary eliminations, none of which have worked yet. what really baffles me is why it is just on my forehead, and nowhere else on my face or body?
in addition to the dietary changes (no eggs for months, recently gave up all dairy) i have done the following forehead related changes for the past several weeks and am still breaking out on my forehead.
- stopped wearing a hat
- use no hair gel
- wash pillowcases more often
- take shower and shampoo at night
does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this forehead only acne? this is really getting frustrating!
