Hi I am intrested in knowing what people think of Beta Peels and what results people have had with Beta Peels.
Especially intrested in folks who have dark skin and have had this treatment. PS I think BETA Peels are also called salicilic peels, though I ammnot sure. Thanks

Hi all, in some of my old posts i mentioned a little bit of this but never made a thread about it.
I got scarred after elextrolysis on my cheeks to remove hairs that were growing further and further up above my beard line. Well the electrolysis was very very hurtfull. It made me break out and inflamed my cheeks and caused lots of dark red and brown spots and the whiteheads/Zits i got from the breakout left little dark dot-marks behind. It even darkedned a section of my skin where most of the hairs were pulled. Whats worse is I think it made my unwanted hair growth worse becasue after electrolysis, i had newer and more unwanted hairs growing on areas of my cheeks which were hairless prior to Electrolysis. *What I would like to know is has ANYONE here heard of Eelctrolysis causing more unwanted hair growth in previously hairless areas. *Also has ANYONE here been scarred by electrolysis and if so what if any remedy did you'll do to make the scars dissappear. Please help me.I am very miserable and after 2 IPL hair removal treatments nothing has changed and so I have just lost it mentally.I WISH i could go back to the time before the electrolysis. I agonise everyday about getting the electrolysis and can not belive what has happened to me. Prior to Electrolysis and to a lesser extent Micro-Demabrasion, my skin was 1000 times better and I can't come to terms with the way i look now. These skin treatments have just killed me on the inside.

I went to the Midwest Demratologic Laser and Vein Center in Chicago's Elmhurst Memorial Clinic.
I have been researching online for the past 2 weeks on safe laser hair removal for dark skin. From what I read, its seems that the majority of Doctors recommend the 1064nm Long Pulse ND:YAG Laser for Dark skin because its long wavelength is less absorbed by the melanin. It has dangers though. It is the most powerfull Laser for hair removal and it is the Deepest penetrating Laser, so there is a REAL danger of Eye damage if used near the eyes. Also it is said to be very painfull I told Dr Kovak whether he was going to use the ND:YAG Cause i have Dark type 4/5 skin colour. He said that he was NOT going to use IT on me cause it has a risk of CAUSING SPOTS!! He (well his RN Nurse) used the Intense Pulse Light system with radio frequency. My unwanted hairs are supposed to fall of in 2 weeks.I can't wait. I have another appointment in 1 month. So far no scabbing or scarring or eye damage. He said it ws perfectly safe and used it on my upper cheeks about 1.5cm from my lower eyelid. I saw bright red flashes and felt mild pricking but BOY was I RELIEVED TO OPEN MY EYES AND I COULD SEE. I need to fix my HAIRr issues first before i tackle my skin.I made the mistake 3 months ago of trying to treat my skin before treating the hair problem. My unwanted hairs and shaving caused 90% of my skin problems. I wish i could go back in time and atleast 3 months.I regret going to the local Dermatologist and Aesthetican and Plastic surgeon, all were not helpfull and gave me no hope or optimism and seemed like I was stuck with my skin. Dr Kovak atleast seems Optimistic and listens and answers better. [-o< [-o< The hairs are supposed to fall of in 14 days. GAWD I can't wait. Every day is a struggle and torture for me. If i hadn't made the mistakes in the past 3onths with regards to Local Derms/Aestheticans/Electrolysis then I wouldn't be soo dam suicidal like I am now. I wish i can turn back the time 3 months. My next treatment is 1 month from now and Its supposed to take 3 treatments before 1 notices a change. I don't know how I am going to make it that long..... IPL is safer than ND:YAG but only fi its in experienced hands because IPL has a steep learning curve and is harder to master than any Laser.

How many dark skin people here of types 4 and 5 or higher have had Glycolic peel.
DO you guys/gals think its a mild peel or a moderate peel? I just went to the 'Midwest Dermatologic Laser and Vein center' in Chicago's Elmhurst Memorial Clinic and saw Dr Stanley C. Kovak. And in the gift basket they gave me with a list of all the treatments they have a paper on Glycolic Peels and am wondering on this.

Hi I was recommended this Doctor by 'LOVE', on the Good doctors announcement thread.
Does anyone have any experiences with this doctor? I have an appointment with him on Tuesday for facial hair removal by laser and was wondering how good/safe he was? |
