THis is what my face looks like..
The marks, and redness just doesn't GO AWAY..and its really upsetting me, I have my highs, and lows. My lows involves me feeling ugly, self consious about myself..I avoid mirrors at most costs, I wash my face, brush my teeth with just a night lite on, because its just that unattractive to me. Its also can be itchy..I have scrolled through your topics, and comments and you guys seem so very helpfull and I need some of that help right about now..I have recently got off a cleanse for my body, because I have irregular female problems..but it just seems like since then my skin has gotten worse, and worse..I HATE wearing cover up, it doesn't even cover them all that great up anyways.
What would any of you guys suggest for my face?
Thank you very much in advance <3<3<3

Hey...
I can honestly say I have not one pimple on my forehead, not one scarring or redness anywhere.
I got acne when I was around 12/13 and I got it really bad with extreme sweating and oily skin/hair etc, it just didnt help at all

I had acne still really bad upto around 14/15 (after that I went to the doctor and I was perscribed an antibiotic roll on lotion which I put on twice a day (morning and night) and really did sting!!

However it was slowly improving and I decided to basically try my own methods and I really didnt research on the internet or ask anyone... I simply avoided soap, alcoholic based soaps, shampoo's, etc... and I basically washed my face at least three times a day, and had a shower once a day (no baths)
I basically used a scrub on called clean and wash to open the pores (as it says on label) and boy did it help, I however do have acne bad on my back and is improving at a fast rate with reduced oily skin and it feels great... I also used a cream called dermaskin (advertised in uk television)
I went to the doctors about my back as I was taking bad reactions to histameine, so I had to take anti histameine as I was allergic to something (unknown, could of been a reaction to humidity, I was in africa and I didnt have it once, and back home when it was cold I would get it coming into the heat)
The reactions are gone and my acne on my back is clearing, I also had some acne at my rear area but its completely gone... my legs are improving.
However my facial looks (forehead, lips, cheeks etc) you would not think I had acne bad and it was very difficult and emotional on me, I would sit in the house all day because of my acne and I felt kind of depressed (as a teenager would of course) but now im going out living a normal life with friends, mixing in and so on (I know it sounds cheesy)
I know how hard it can be for teenagers when there young and you have acne... if you do have it, you dont need to worry about it and it will go away, I know it can cause problems and affect the way you live in certain aspects, but it will clear up and ive been reading a lot on this forum and this is one helpful forum I must admit.
Im 18 now and I havent had a pimple on my forehead in over 4 months which normally I would get every morning!!

I really hope every teenager and even adult eventually gets rid of it, its a long process I know and I know there are people who are worse of and have had it longer, but im relieved to get rid of it

Best of luck to all.
Chris.

I have been doing some thinking back to when I was getting pimples as a teen. I never really got it too bad, then one day I went to the doctor for a sore throat, and he saw one pimple on my face. He instantly prescribed me an antibiotic and bp gel. I have always been pretty self-conscious of my looks, and this just added to it. I would always seem to overreact to getting a pimple, by washing and washing. My younger brother had basically the same kind of acne as me, even worse on his back. He never was really into his appearance, he didn't let it bother him. I asked him the other day what he washes his face with, he just said normal dove soap. I haven't used a regular soap on my face in over 10 years probably. He isn't dealing with pimples anymore either. It got me thinking, that maybe the overuse of all these products is what has kept my mild acne an ongoing problem. What would happen if I just washed my face with a normal soap?? Do people without acne use an acne cleanser?? Probably not, so I'm going to try to just use Dove soap for a bit. I have washed two times so far, and it really leaves my face feeling better, not dry like other products. At this point, I really have one actice pimple, the rest of my spots are red marks from older pimples. Many of these red spots are from my own stupidity of trying to pop something that really didn't need to be popped. Things that other people wouldn't have even noticed, but I did, so I felt like it needed to be popped. I'm hoping that a change to a more gentle washing method for my face will help in the long run. I'll try to post my results here every so often.

For some reason I only get acne on my cheeks and i've noticed that many people on this forum have that problem too... and cheek acne is probably the worse since it scars so easily.. so does anyone know why?

I know exactly when a whitehead is going to turn into an infected all-on zit. It always happens right before my period on the sides of my mouth and most of the time I can feel it coming. What do you do when you feel a pimple getting bigger? I've read icing it helps, but I was wondering if putting cortisone cream on it would help the inflamation, if cortisone shots reduce cysts. Has anybody tried that? Thanks.

Hi all,
I'm a regular forum reader...I just don't do much posting, but I need to today. (I have what I consider mild moderate acne) So I have been on the regimen for about 4 weeks now. Last week I really noticed an improvement in the number of pimple I was getting per day. I was down to like one to two small ones that would disappear quickly. Well face has really taken a turn for the worse in the past two days...I have about 10 active pimples on my face, to go along with all the red marks and redness from previous pimples and the bp. Its not good, my self confidence was really getting good pertaining to my face until this, and now today I didn't even want to leave the house.
Of course I am going to stick with the regimen, and hopefully this is my one last major outbreak on the road to clearness. Have any of you had a similar experience?
I also have a couple questions pertaining to the products I am using. My current morning/night routine consists of exactly following Dan's regimen using these products: Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser, CSR bp gel, and Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer. I would like to try getting a moisturizer with AHA in it, because I feel that half the acne I am getting is being caused by the INCREASING number of clogged pores on my face getting inflamed. What should I do for these? Any suggestions on mousturizers with AHA in them?
Thanks!!
Ryan

I am 18 and have had acne for 3 years. It has never got too bad but is always there and visible. I do weight training for 4 hours a week, a bit of cardiovascular work and have a healthy diet drinking at least 3 litres of water a day. I have tried everything to get rid of this acne but it just won't go. My routine is a simple witch hazel face wash morning and night, maybe a splash of water during the day, an exfoliation once a week and benoxyl peroxide 5% every other night. Help me! What else can i possibly do?

hi guys,
i have some whiteheads on my forehead only.
iam trying to follow the regime and applying BP 2.5% on my forehead, but no matter how patient i am or how much or how little product i use, i can't seem to make it absorve into my skin.
i think maybe it's because its a forehead area? the skin is abit more "tougher" than the other lower half of my face (my logic here, haha)
And i've only been using the BP at night time because i can not go outside looking like i have white flakes and powder all over my forehead...
any suggestions??
thanks

I have heard the bad and the good of accutane. I can take dry skin for 20 weeks, if it means 7+ years of clear skin which by then i hope i would have outgrown acne which most people do. (im 15 yrs old). My mom doesnt want me to take it b/c of the "serious side-effects" but there is about a 1 in a million chance im gonna have suicidal thoughts. Other then when i have a gigantic pimple on my face, im a really confident and fun person. I dont THINK i will have any depression b/c i usually can control my emotions.
For previous accutane users, please tell me if it worked, caused any side effects, made it worse, made it better, u kno things like that. I wanna get it b/c i dont want to have the hassle of dealing with this for the rest of my teenage life. I want to get rid of acne. When i see people rubbing their faces i just get jealous for some reason b/c i have an oily face and would never do that.
I only have mild acne, but the scars are killing me. I try not to pop whiteheads, but i just cant stand looking at them and knowing that when im talking to people at school they are looking at it/them too.
HELP Please! I want to make a decision fast, so i wont go deep into the weeks of summer with the treatment, if i decide to do it.

I've had, what feels like, a spot underneath the skin for months now (atleast 6) and today i've noticed its coming more to the surface, im please the fucking bumps going to be gone, but im just curious how these "bumps" start in the first place, and should i just put BP on it, or should i leave it and let it rise to the surface quicker. Cheers

Hey guys great board first of all and I'm happy to be a part of it.
Ok on to my little issue. I'm male, 25 and I suddenly started breaking out on my forehead right by my hairline about 2 weeks ago. So at first I did the normal thinking to get to the root of the problem. Diet, sleep patterns, hygiene routine. I was baffled. I work out regularly, I'm a health nut, I eat a very clean diet except for the occasional splurge and the only bad thing I do is I go out and party 2x a week. Even so, I'd never broke out on my forehead, especially right by my hairline.
I'm from Southern California and the weather here has been quiet weird lately. Hot as hell one day, then windy and cold (by California standards) the next day. I've noticed that my skin is overly dry lately on my forehead and around my jawline.
So some internet research and digging had led me to believe my shampoo/conditioner was the problem. I have a shaved head, so there is really no reason for me to shampoo daily and my cousin who works for a popular haircare line use to always tell us its not necessary to shampoo your hair everyday anyways. So I stopped shampooing my hair for the past 3 days (kinda gross) and I haven't got one new pimple on my forehead/hairline and all the existing ones have flatten to the point where there's only the post blemish "mark" left. So here's my question. What's the best shampoo/conditioner to use? I've read all about panethol, sodium lauryl sulphate and sodium laureth sulphate. However the interesting thing was I've been using the same shampoo/conditioner for the past 3-4 months without any forehead breakouts. It was just sudden. So the only other explaination I can think of is excessive shampooing. I was shampooing daily, sometimes twice because I'd go to the gym at night.
Here's my skin care routine:
Morning: Wash face with St.Ives Apricot Scrub, apply Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer
Night: Wash face with Pro-activ and apply thin layer of 2.5% benzoyl peroxide.
I take plenty of vitamins (health nut remember..

) (Ester C, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin E, B-5 and a good Multi-vitamin) and I drink at least half a gallon of water every day. I also sit in the steam room 2-4x a week after I work out and have found that to be very beneficial for my skin. I also take Flax-seed Oil and drink Green Tea a few times a week.
So I found a lot of people recommending Johnson's Baby Shampoo and others recommending Dandruff Shampoo. I wouldn't say I have dandruff but because of this dry windy weather my scalp does itch a little.
Anyways here are my questions:
-I'm 95% sure my forehead breakout was due to over-shampooing/conditioning. I'm going to get a new shampoo but which one? I'm leaning towards the Johnson's.
-In your experiences how much does weather effect your skin? I did have bad skin when I around 19-20 and took one low dosage course of Accutane which cleared it right up and I've only had the occassional pimple ever since then.
-How often do you moisturize?? I usually only moisturize once a day but I'm thinking of doing twice since the weather's been so weird.
If you guys have any other tips I'd really appreciate it. Even though the breakout was mild, I started to freak out thinking that I'd have to re-live my teen years in my 20's.
Thanks for input
Sunny

This is frustrating because my entire face is actually pretty clear and smooth - some red marks here and there. BUT THERE ARE THESE 2 SWOLLEN PAPULES (I THINK THAT'S WHAT IT IS) ON THE LEFT CHEEK AND THEY STAND OUT LIKE ANYTHING.
I've tried everything to shrink them and reduce the redness - neosporin, BP, ice - and they just won't.
I have a party tonite and I soooooo just want these 2 papules to go away. Is there anything else that I should try?
thank you to anyone who replies.

I don't have much acne at all. I mean, I have a few bumps on my forehead and chin, and blackheads on my nose, but there isn't severe acne anywhere on my face. In that same breath, I tend to get three to five pimples/red spots at any given time on the cheekbone area of my face.
Does anybody know why I am getting these pimples and what I can do to stop them from forming?
By the way, I am 15 years old. I use the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash in the morning and night and follow both with a St.Ives Renewal Cream.

I have had acne for 4 years already and its only gone down a little. Its getting me very impatient so I want to tell me dermatologist to prescribe me acutane but I dont think he'll let me. He has me on Retin A micro and minocycline for already half a year and the only thing that happened was just the bumps went down. And its going to be my jounior year next year and Im tired of being the school loner. What should I tell him that will make him prescribe me acutane thank you.

I was recently using spectro jel and SA pads for my skin but found it didn't do much. My skin is broke out in red bumps now because while away for a week i used my moms skin cream "Marcelle" and found out it contained mineral oil. I hear alot about BP and how it's good for acne so i started using Panoxyl 5% wash for my skin and then followed by 2.5% BP proactiv repairing lotion, then apply my cream thats oil free complex 15. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me if this is a good skin care regimen and also will i break out worse before i get better while using BP?
