I know many of you have heard all the success stories experienced by people who have had skin needling performed in the States. Specifically, there have been more people who have experienced great results from Frank from Transitions than any other needling practitioner out there.

People have had great results with ice picks, boxcars, rolling scars and scarred pores! Obviously, the deeper the scarring, the more sessions you are likely to need.

Well, our time has come!!!!!!!!!!

Frank has just phoned me in the UK!!!!!!!!

Frank is now making plans to come to the UK IN JUNE. He intends to be in the Birmingham/West Midlands area for 4-5 days, and will training others to perform skin needling to his high standards.

He will be looking for plenty of models to work on. Models will be charged around $50 (£30) depending on the amount needed. This is a ridiculously low fee!!!

Any of you who are interested in having this performed, please contact me ASAP to register your interest. Leave me your name, address and phone number via PM.

Further, Frank will be training me to perform skin needling on others. I will be assisting him throughout his stay in the UK. (I am so very excited!!), so for those models who would need further needling sessions, I will be happy to provide the service to you in the future.

I will bump up this thread when I have the specific dates in June.

Happy scar revision!

A scientist says he can develop a gel which will provide effective treatment of acne without side-effects.
Professor Keith Holland, of the University of Leeds, said tests showed a virus commonly found on skin could kill the bacteria responsible for acne.

Dermatologists backed the research, but noted it was only at an early stage.

The findings come as a survey for the Acne Support Group showed children suffering from it were often missing out on schooling as a result.

Current treatments either have side-effects or involve antibiotics which, if used too much, create resistant strains.

Certain types of contraceptive pill are sometimes prescribed to alter hormonal levels responsible for the acne.

The Acne Support Group survey of 563 people found 40% of school children with acne suffered a loss of concentration on their studies as a result.

And 20% took time off school.

Among adults, 83% said their self-confidence was affected and 80% felt depressed because of the condition.

The effect of acne on sufferers
40% of schoolchildren with acne cannot concentrate on their studies
20% of children miss school because of the condition
83% of adults' self-confidence falls
80% of adults suffer depression
84% of people suffer scarring

Acne destroyed my confidence
Professor Holland, a microbiologist at the Leeds Skin Research Centre, hopes to use a bacteria-specific virus, called a bacteriophage, which is commonly found on human skin.

Tests showed it attacked the bacteria responsible for acne, Professor Holland said.

He hopes to start clinical trials, testing the treatment on patients, in the summer.

Professor Holland said: \"We are thinking of the future. We think a possible answer is the use of bacteriophage.

\"We want to make a gel which contains the bacteriophage which we can put in a higher concentration on the skin.\"

Because it is naturally present, he believes there will not be a toxic side-effect in using it as a treatment.

Alison Dudley, of the Acne Support Group, said new therapies were needed.

Dark ages

\"We are still in the dark ages with acne,\" she said.

Professor Holland does not yet have funding for the clinical trials he hopes to run.

Professor Michael Davis, of Central Connecticut State University's department of biological sciences, is carrying out similar research into the use of bacteriophage.

He said: \"If you are treating bacterial diseases on the outside of people, I think they are a natural thing to use.\"

Dr Debra Jaliman, a spokeswoman for the American Academy of Dermatology, said there was not yet widespread research into the use of bacteriophage, but that it could be a positive development for the future.

She said: \"It could be a big breakthrough. There are so many acne sufferers that it is something that is definitely needed.\"

I believe there are going to be trials for this running around the summer - those interested (UK people) should try to contact Professor Keith Holland, University of Leeds.

Hi all

I had a very nice/helpful email from Richard from www.loganwoodskincare.com about the way we were using our lactic peels.

He was concerned that we were leaving it on our faces for too long. He suggests we should leave it on for only 5 minutes at the maximum end. He feels that we should NOT be over processing our skin.

I have asked Richard to kindly post here for our benefit (as I know he is an honest and professional supplier of lactic peels, also he is a practitioner and sees clients too).

I am emailing Richard this link in the hope he will respond.

I was just wondering how many of you have good and bad days when you look at your face? Or even good and bad moments?

I mean, this morning, I'd applied makeup, looked in the mirror and thought I looked OK ... I then went out for a couple of hours, caught myself in a mirror at the supermarket and looked horrible! My scars looked enormous!!!! Grrrr .... spent an hour thinking how rubbish I was looking ... got home, looked in the mirror and looked fine again.

Weird eh?
