'Bout how much of the MA are you guys applying? My Vivant sample came the other day, but I've yet to use it because I haven't a clue how much to put on.

Same here, do we use a dropper or just soak it in a tissue and dab it on the blackheads?

I would suggest starting out with a very small amount. If you have any of those little cotton swabs on sticks ... dip one in the little sample vial, and apply the mandelic with that. It shouldn't take more than a couple of dips to cover your whole face.

Per my earlier post ... start slowly. Your skin needs a little time to adjust. Try every other night for a week and see how that goes.

I've been using the 15% MA from Vivant on my nose the past 2-3 nights. I apply it with my fingertips but haven't experienced any flaking or burning so far. I'll give it a week or so before I decide whether to use it on the rest of my face. Blackheads are indestructible. Mine, anyway.

It will definitely help with the blackheads. I am less sure about the redness ... do you know what's causing it? is it hyperpigmentation, or just where things are healing?

I believe mandelic to be similar to hydroquinone in its ability to fade discoloration ... meaning, it is better against brown marks than red, but will help with red marks over time.

Try searching for NuCelle ... or MaMa lotion ... I would Google those and see what you can come up with.

Weird, it burned like hell the first time i dabbed it on my nose. Try soaking a q-tip in it instead of using your fingers.

anyways i have been using it for about a week and the results are tremendous. i put a very little amount on my nose every night and after some initial flaking and blackheads poking out, things look good now. pores are quite clear and nose is smooth.

LionQueen, thanks so much!

hello,
my name is fabian and i am a 21 year old male from germany.
when i was 17 i took accutane against moderate acne and remained clear for 2 years.at 20 it returned and i took accutane again (this time only 70mg/kg, first therapy was 113mg/kg).
the infected pimples are gone and all thats left is the problem of impurities due to hyperkeratinization(is that what its called in english?)
anyways, i can see my skin changing due to this issue of dead skin cells blocking my pores.
it seems i get completely clear, then it worsens for about seven days until all the dead skin starts coming off for about 3 days until i am back to clear skin, then the process repeats itself.
i have currently been using 5% bp at night and 10% glycolic acid in the morning which has been ok in terms of effect.i then thought, fuck it, and applied some retin a in the morning, glycolic acid in the afternoon after a shower and bp at night.well, i look a bit sunburned(no actual sunburn, just redness) now and am staying off products until my skin is normal again.
the reason i am writing here is i find mandelic acid interesting and am wondering whether it works much better than glycolic in terms of getting rid of blackheads and dead skin.
i am also wondering whether i should stop the bp which could altogether improve my skins feel and look, but i am scared the impurities will get worse because i feel bp has helped with dead skin quite well.the effect of white skin peeling could also be realated to dryness though and not an actual effect on the lossening of dead skin.
anyways, i am wondering how to go from now.
this is what i have:
zirh clean face wash with aha
zirh protect moisturizer with aha
10%glycolic acid lotion
5%bp gel
aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, panthenol gel (very nice)

so i will try to aplly the protect moisturizer in morning(after applying the aloe...gel) and after sports in the afternoon and the 10% glycolic lotion at night.if my skin gets worse i will have to switch to bp again i suppose.

or maybe mandelic acid would help.but i am not sure how strong its effect really is.
i am sort of confused concerning my future regimen and annoyed that after 2 isotretinoin therapies i still have to deal with this shit.
if anyone has a suggestion how i could build a very effective yet not overirritating anti impurity regimen on these products(i am also open for new suggestions for products) i would be very grateful.

sorry for the long text, i need to practice getting to the point faster *lol*
best regards from rainy germany
fabian

I have absolutely no idea. I know very little about seborrheic dermatitis. I think you should ask a derm.

That depends on the severity of your acne.

If you only have mild or mild/moderate acne, it is possible that you could control it with mandelic acid alone.

If you have moderate/severe or severe acne, I think you should stick with the Taz until you are clearer ... you might try mandelic later.

Yes, it is!

I am amazed your derm would give you Taz just for blackheads ... it is the strongest and most irritating of the retinoids.

Do you have oily skin or dry skin? (when you aren't using Taz, that is).

I recommend the Vivant mandelic serum from Diana Yvonne if your skin is oily and if you are planning to quit using Taz.

I recommend the Garden of Wisdom alcohol-free serums if your skin is dry, sensitive, or you are planning to continue using Taz.

Links for both sites are in my signature ... both sell sample sizes ....

So ... it sounds like your main problem is clogged pores.

Drop the BP ... it is not very helpful against clogged pores, and is contributing to your problems with dry skin.

For now, I would suggest alternating between Retin A and glycolic at night, since those are products you already have. If your skin handles that well, you can move up to Retin A every night and glycolic in the mornings. Go slowly, though -- don't let your skin get badly irritated.

I would switch immediately to the most simple and gentle cleanser you can find -- something with no active ingredients and no sulfates. I would also find a gentle moisturizer with SPF for daytime use.

Right now you are doing too much to your skin ... it needs to be calmer and more balanced. BTW, if you are still red and irritated, do not use any more active products until things settle down and the redness is gone!

Keep me posted about your progress ... feel free to send a PM or post in my regimen log.

LionQeen....ur the best.

umm...i believe i have combination skin...but i dont get acne, just little, barely noticable blackheads on my nose(weird, i know), which piss me off.

im deffinately gunna quit taz because of the oilyness and ineffectiveness on my nose, that is if mandelic works.

OK, I think you should try the Vivant first -- it is the most powerful mandelic product out there. Just get a sample from DY. If for some reason your skin doesn't like it, you can always switch to the GoW serum.
