I bought the ansr system but I do not have acne.I got it really for the skin rejuvanation I saw a add in Glamour magizine, so when I ordered it I didn't know to order it under the skin rejuvanation so I did not get the serum. I was wondering if I needed it. I just started using it today so I geuss we will see. I have read some good things about it. I have got skin rejuvanations at doctors office and they hurt to the point I have to have my face numb before they can laser it.I was hoping this would work. Also the skin rejuvanations @ the doctors office are expensive.I got the acne products with mine. I wish that I had ordered mine from the web site it tells you this. I ordered mine off another web site a beauty store it was the same price. The serum is $50.00 bucks. I wonder if its the serum that works and not the light. any one know ?

Hi all!
Just got my Beautyskin lamp today. Bought it because I allways tend to clear up my skin during summertime, so I thought I would give the lamp a try. Really looking forward to getting clear skin again

)
I am just curious, is the timer on the Beautyskin supposed to be so noisy, or is it something wrong my lamp? It makes this horrible sound when I turn it on..

Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone has tried the beam from ansr (ansr.com i think). It's very expensive ($150-200), but it seems like it works. But proactive 'seemed' like it worked too, so i'm skeptical. It uses a red/blue light, but it is very small and you make direct contact w/ your skin. Anyone tried it? I've tried basically everything over the counter (plus proactive, acnefree, and retin-a) and right now i'm giving dead sea minerals a shot, but i just want to keep my options open in case this doesn't work out.

I have always had pores that were barely visible,
but after I got a chemical peel my pores were huge!
they are all over my cheeks now. I'm sad because I don't
think I have a way to reverse this, I don't know if my pores will ever
be small again, any advice?

About a year ago I had some laser treatment on my keloids located on my chest and back.
They applied numbing gel on the areas first then went on with the laser.
I did about 4 treatments- suppose to be 5 BUT I didn't see any improvement WHAT SO EVER!
Really disappointed bc the laser treatment hurt and it didn't work.
Let me know if anyone else has had this done..

Before we start, I know about the risks about sunbeds etc etc..
I go on the sunbed once a week on a friday, by tuesday, my skin is horrible again, and I can't afford to tan more than once a week.
So just wondering, would a normal UV bulb in a lamp work?
e.g. if I buy this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLACKLIGHT-75W-UV-LI...id=p3286.c0.m14and put it in my lamp, shine the light on my face (wear sunbed goggles) would it work?

I just wanted to share my experience with this laser treatment.
Skin background: I have oily skin that is also sensitive.
About two years ago, my derm recommended laser treatment as a way to treat
my mild acne by directly shrinking the oil glands without any damage to the skin.
A win win situation right?
There were supposed to be about four- five treatments, but I only ended up having two.
The specific type of laser he ended up using is called Aramis. It may be similar
to IPL, but I'm not sure at the moment.
The 1st treatment was kinda painful, but afterwards, I didn't really have
any side effects so I thought OK, this is good, 3 more treatments to go!
The 2nd treatment was again kinda painful, but this time, I had a lot of
redness on my forehead, the temples, and side burn/cheek areas. I was told
these side effects were completely normal and they gave me some creams
to put on...
The thing is, from that point on, the skin around my temple and sides of my face
have never been the same since. The skin tone always seem to look a bit red and
darker than normal and the texture seems rough and "tight". Washing my face
seemed to exasperbate the redness/roughness...
It's now been about two years. I went in to see the derm and he diagnosed the real
problem as being foliculitus or seborrheic dermatitis; yeast growth on my face!
But how can that be? How can it be so wide spread? Well, I had gone to a followup
visit with the derm right after the second treatment of the Aramis, and the Physician
Assistant had said that the laser may have altered the oil glands not just by shrinking
them, but in a way that makes yeast more likely to grow...This completely shocked me
and I refused to believe it. In these forums, another member had also suggested this
side effect...But from what I understand, it's fairly rare so I guess I'm one of those
unlucky 1% of people who end up being susceptible to yeast.
Back to my most recent visit. The derm prescribed a special shampoo in which I'm to
use on my face as well as on my scalp and it is to be used chronically as there is no
"cure" to the damage done...
I suppose it's not as bad as other more deadly conditions, but I just wanted to give
some caution to those thinking of laser therapy that a lot of this stuff while FDA approved
(or not) still haven't been fully proven to be safe especially for those with sensitive skin.
I'm hoping I can find a way to treat my condition holistically, but for now I will need to
use this shampoo to improve the redness/inflammation and even flakiness I now
experience...

I was pretty shocked today when my `dermatoligist` said I could do fraxel laser treatment if i go off accutane for 5 days(ive been taking it for 2 months). I always thought you have to wait 6 months before doing laser treatments after being on accutane. I told her this but she thinks it should be fine....I dont want to wait but I also want to get rid of the red marks and scars!! Im going to wait until im done accutane...but Iwas just soo surprised when she said this.....what do you think? is this normal?

So I have been suffering from moderate acne for about three years now. I have tried a lot of different treatments as prescribed by my derm. As of May 2009, my derm did not consider me a candidate for accutane despite my cystic acne. According to him, it is not bad enough (2-3 cysts/week, 2-3 pustules/week) yet.
One "regimen" he prescribed kept me clear for about 4 months then signs of antibiotic resistance started to show up so he prescribed me some different antibiotics to get a "jump" things.
Today, it seems that slowly but surely, my acne is getting worse which means that this new regimen he prescribed me is not really working and is probably not good for my health either. 3 years of antibiotics isn't exactly the most healthy thing.....
ANYWAYS, I've read about light therapy before and I'm skeptical to say the least. However, my acne seems to improve greatly when i go on vacation. I'm not sure if this is due to increased sunlight exposure or the arid climate. I don't think I'll ever know, but I'm hoping its the sunlight.
Lightwave CSI chose this lamp for several reasons:
- 110% Satisfaction Guarantee-I would actually be content with 100%
- 90 Day trial Period-if it doesnt work after 90 days, I will return it for a full refund, and then some.
- The company seems to be very responsive and willing to help people out
- Seems of good quality
- Healthy alternative to long term antibiotic usage
- Last thing to try before I demand accutane*
*Before using such a powerful drug, wouldn't you want the satisfaction of knowing that you tried every alternative you could? I would.
I'm not going to lie, $349 is so expensive. I'm telling my parents its costing me $100, and even then, they will most likely flip.
I think I'm going to discontinue all of my current regimen and replace it with this. This worries me the most because I feel like there is a potential for my acne to become really bad. What is even worse, is if this happens and the Lightwave CS doesn't work...I'm screwed.
I'm not looking for the Lightwave to clear me up 100%. I'll be ecstatic if it does. I am, however, looking to be at least 65% clear. I can live with that, and have the satisfaction that antibiotics won't mess with my body anymore.
If anyone has anything to add before I order this, then please tell me. Good or bad.
I'll try to keep this updated every week with my progress.
I then hope to educate others about the Lightwave CS..good or bad experience.
Day 1 starts tonight...when I order the lamp.
Thanks for reading.
-Fred

So the light came today. The things small, but SUPER BRIGHT!! I called them up about the whole time thing and she said that the amber bulb enables the light to penetrate deeper faster and that the bulbs themselves are just dam powerful, it hurts my eyes even when closed shined directly at them. The instructions say no more than 10 seconds per area, which if effective would be as you all know revolutionary.
My skin is practically clear right now mostly because of my resveratrol intake, but with that alone I was still getting zits now and then, whats different now is that I'm getting a shit load of sun and I know it helps alot! I got this lamp so I'll be able to avoid the sun and maintain this complection. My review might not be very useful to most of you because I'm coming from a state of near clarity, but its been a long road and I think this little device might just be the nail in the coffin. Although I also plan on weening myself off resveratrol, so that should put the light to the test.
So far the company has been very professional and you cant beet there return policy which includes free return shipping. I think that for those interested this is def the light to go for.

Has anyone had absolutely no results from Photodynamic Therapy with IPL? I went in for my first treatment, prepared to leave with an itchy burning face and to spend the weekend indoors. The acid incubated for 45 minutes. Then the tech did 1 pass of IPL. She was concerned that my face didn't even turn pink, so she did another pass at a stronger intensity. Still nothing. She sent me home saying I would turn read later. Next day, nothing. I called the doctor office and the tech said stand in the sun for 10 minutes. That did cause a little blotchiness, but 5 minutes after being indoors all pinkness was gone. She had me come back into the office and put me under the blue light for 15 minutes. Yep, still, nothing. Not even pink. She chopped it up to my skin is just acclimated to treatment because I was going for regular chemical peels for about 2 months weeks prior to this treatment. The following day I went to a tanning bed to try to activate the acid yet again. Nothing. After tanning, I went out by the pool and enjoyed the rest of my weekend that I had thought would be spent indoors.
Has anyone else ever heard of skin being so acclimated that PDT does not even have any side effect (ie redness, peeling, itchiness...)? I was trying PDT because the chemical peels I was getting also stopped being as effective. The aesthetician switched it up each week, and of coarse i took some weeks off. Initially I peeled really good and my skin was looking great. After 4 or 5 peels I stopped peeling, even when the strongest acids were used.
What can you recommend for me to try next? I purchased 3 sessions of PDT, I am leery to even use the remaining 2. I would rather get my money back and try something that will work.
Oh ya, shouldn't the IPL by itself done something as well? I mean, even if the acid did not activate and did not do it's job, the 2 treatments with IPL should have had some sort of effect...right? Nothing whatsoever. I am stumped. I have literally tried, taken, used, applied EVERYTHING. I am also on Spironolactone 200mg/day. Month 2, and I just broke out really bad right after my period. =(

Hello all. I'd like to share my views to anyone considering having pixel laser treatment for acne scars (ice-pick and deep pits around chin and cheek). I am fair skinned and have had the scars for between 10 - 15 years. I had 4 treatments at the Private Clinic, London. The treatments were a month apart from Aug - Nov 08. I was treated with a Harmony laser and the intensity was increased over each session.
The first treatment felt like rubber bands snapping on my face, the last treatment felt as if someone was pricking my skin with hot needles. Regardless of what I was told I couldn't leave the house for about 3 days. This is because the treatment burns the top layer of your skin and subsequently sheds itself. During the shedding process I regularly applied Aqueous cream to keep the skin moisturized. I also drank loads of water, ate lots of protein, increased the Vit C - took it easy!! I should also mention that the first nights sleep after each treatment was quite difficult due to a hot, tight face.
Once the dead skin had peeled off my skin looked pretty amazing and smooth. This is due to inflammation caused by the treatment. Within a week my scars looked exactly the same as pre-treatment. For about 2 weeks after treatment I also had quite dry skin.
So, I had 4 treatments and now for the results. Overall my skin looks fresher, which pleases me. However, the scars haven't gone. The scarred area is slightly smoother but again I stress - the scars have not gone. I entered into the treatment with a hopeful, yet realistic attitude. I was hoping for about a 60% improvement to the scarrring. My opinion and 2 honest dear friends give the treatment to my skin a rating of 30%.
If you are considering this treatment I wish you luck. I did my research prior to treatment and understand that some people have had very good results. Just remember to always use sunblock!

Does anyone have experience with any of the Skin Culture products?
Skin CultureThere's the link.
I'm looking into some sort of treatment for my hyperpigmented acne scars on my back. For a few days I've been using Benzoyl Peroxide 10%, aloe vera, Retin-A, and I've been exfoliating. I want to be able to wear sundresses and stuff this summer, so I've been researching different types of treatments. I'm not sure how much money my parents would be willing to fork out, so I'm really trying to find the cheapest most effective available.
Recently I read on a user blog that the skin peel 4000 is very effective. At least it worked for him. He said his complexion was improved 90%.
The testimony video on this page is pretty great.
ReviewIt sounds worth it to me, at least worth the try, and my back could probably take more than a face, as it's tougher. I'm fair, and my hyperpigmentation is light brown.
Thanks for any tips or testimonies.

<edit:> I neglected to mention... (I often forget to add stuff when tired and posting late at night) That I had stopped using my lights after I moved to a new state, and gotten a new job.
Life got incredibly stressful, & I had moved in with other ppl to get started out here. Now that I'm back on my feet, & in my own place I'm resuming treatment. But, I had gone over a year without the light./Well, I'm aging... Though I own a beautyskin lamp... And an acnelamp... I'm finding that I really just want a red lamp for healing, & still present melasma. (sun damage)
I still use topicals, & have a few new lesions due to stress and long hours at work... But, I feel that if my melasma and uneven pigmentation would clear up more... I'd probably simply quit wearing makeup at this point. (which exacerbates any existing acne)
So, I'm going to treat with all three, my acnelamp, my topicals, & my red lamp...
Tonight, I came across this website (prices in USD).... (I apologize if this site has previously been posted, I've been sort of MIA)
http://www.light-therapy-led.com/products.htm& I'll update the thread after/if I receive a decent product and am happy.
This site sells both types of lights, the red/blue combo, & just the red, or just the blue. The prices are phenomenal...
Maybe because they are just for the bulbs themselves.
The site does say that they'll fit into any standard socket, but I'm thinking a metal shade lamp... (there is a link to a desk/cliplamp) With a flexible neck, would be the best. (walmart typically sells them)
So, I just went for the two fer deal on the red led bulbs. Like I said, I will post back on results of order.

Last Thursday I went to a cosmectic clinic in town after deciding on IPL Photorejuvenation.
I told her I wanted IPL for acne/acne scars/red marks/large pores/freckles/veins on nose.
She did a test patch which was 30 pound, (you get this knocked of your first treatment)
she said if Im suitable I would need 5 treatments
she also sold me £101 worth of Environ b-active skincare range.
it consists of a pre-cleanser a cleanser a toner a moisturizer a spot stick a face mask and a sunscreen.
So I went back today to see her for a review so she could look at the test patch. It was fine.
so she got started on my first treatment which cost me £120
she cleansed my face/applied a cool gel all over face/ and then set the machine and got started zapping my face all over.
she likened th laser to an elastic band flicking your face.
well it was a bit more painful than that.
i jumped everytime she zapped me. I asked her if most people jumped and she sed most people are worse including herself ha.
after 15 mins it was all over.
she cleansed my skin/dried it and then applied sunscreen.
booked me in for a months time (21st Sept)
I left the clinic with mild stingin in my face and it felt hot n red.
I didnt see myself b4 leaving there, so I was pretty self concious walkin past people to get back to my car which was parked down the road
got into car and looked at face. just a little pink, nuthing to worry about at all. cool
so my next 4 treatments will be £150 each.
I cant wait for my next one now.
Im wondering what im going to look like tommorrow. Prob black freckly patches, thats fine. im of work hehehe.

Hi, I have some redness around the nose area and broken capillaries. I've already paid for 2 IPL treatments and noticed improvement, but I don't want to do the 4 other recommended sessions because it's too expensive. I was wondering if I could buy a home light/laser device to use at home to help with my condition. I know it won't work as well as what the doctor has, but I'm willing to use a home device for months if necessary.
Any suggestions or am I dreaming?

In a few weeks I will be going into my Derm for my first electrodesication treatment to help fade the broken capilaries or broken blood vessels on my cheeks, chin and around my nose. I feel they are the result of acne and possibly a couple bad sunburns I got after going on topicals to treat my acne.
I am curious if this is similar to the IPL treatments people on these boards speak of?
Has anyone had this electrodesication treatment done? What can I expect? How many treatments will I have to get done before I notice a difference? My Derm said its some type of thing that targets the blood vessel and destroys them. Thanks for reading...

So I had my first cool touch treatment two days ago and now my face is still burning and peeling. the thing is that I used aczone on my skin the same day (at night) that i had the laser treatment. the next morning I used aczone and at night I used aczone and then tazorac an hour later. What do I do to stop the burning and peeling? or is this normal after laser treatments? or should I stop using the aczone/tazorac for a few days?

I made an appointment to get a laser treatment on my face in 3 weeks' time. The doctor explained the procedure, showed me pics of other patients he treated (with very good results) and then suggested I should use sunblock for a full three weeks before the operation. Apparently, the machine is a Lumenis Quantum. The goal I'm after is the reduction of redness on cheeks, forehead and nose, and hoping also that the procedure will normalize my sebaceous glands' daily excess oil production which clogs each and every one of my pores. I've white heads on nose, cheeks and forehead.. and a couple of blackheads on my nose. I also have seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp. I forgot to ask what could be done about that. My hair looks healthy though, and I shower every day, but if I scratch my scalp, I can pick up little white "gunk" (dandruff like, but oilier) with my nails. No biggie, I'm more concerned about my face.
During my daily morning shower (or "showers" if I take another one before going to bed) I use a sponge on my face and regular Dove soap to exfoliate, to try to remove the gunk in my bigger pores (on nose, around nose and on cheeks)... they're so hard to get, I have to use my nails carefully not to damage the skin. The ones on the side of my nose are specially big and hard to get. Right after getting out of the shower, my face looks red, but ok... then the redness sort of settles to a lighter colour (much like a light suntan) and the pores tend to close and you can barely notice I've whiteheads all over. But after half an hour if I go back to a mirror, I can see tiny little oil drops in my pores. A few hours later (maybe 6-7 hours), my face looks oily again and if you look closely, many of the pores are bigger and carry once again more "white gunk".
The general look of my face is that of a guy who went skiing and used goggles. The skin around my eyes looks white, with a weird semicircle near my cheekbones, and the rest is reddish. It'll look a lot red when running, practicing sports, right after a shower, also under stressful situations (e.g. an oral exam - good thing I'm through with those) and also while eating hot or spicy food. Same ol' triggers for anyone with rosacea.
I'll be posting good quality pics later on tonight or tomorrow.
But I've been reading a lot on this subforum, and was wondering if any of you guys/gals who are more experienced on this subject, could tell me if there's any difference between all these lasers... Fraxel, Lumenis Quantum, Lumenis One, CO2... cause it seems lots of people are using them for practically the same purpose, but I haven't seen a discussion about the pros and cons of each one, or a "vs." comparison... or simply put, which one's better for a rosacea treatment.
My doctor said that what I have is mild rosacea, I guess it's type 1 according to what I've read here... and that the laser will take care of it in 2 to 3 procedures (US 600 each - I'm in Argentina). But all these different lasers have me puzzled... even more now that I've read that Lumenis One is supposed to be a "fourth generation laser", whereas the Quantum is a "third generation" one (hence older and... not so advanced and accurate?).
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
P.S.: I've just finished uploading the pics in my gallery. Dunno when they'll be available, I guess in 24hs pending approval.

I like the handheld devices because I will only be using it for spot treatment. I am nearly 100% clear and I just want to prevent potential breakouts.
What device is easier to use? Which device takes less time per treatment?

hey guys~
I have scheduled a Vbeam laser treatment... but i really want to know what is the best time interval between treatments? How long after the 1st treatment can the doctor determine whether you need another treatment??
It would be great if i can have expert advice on this
Thanks!!!
