Hi all!
I have been on tretinoin .1% and eryacne (a topical antibiotic gel) for about 2 months now. I only have acne on the lower area of my face so I haven't applied the medication to my forehead. And now the lower area of my face is bright red! As you can probably imagine it looks really weird having one half of your face normal skin color and the other half looking like a tomato. Now I'm already using a moisturizer for 2 weeks 2 times a day but that hasn't done much. So I really don't know what to do now. Should I stop applying the meds for a week or something like that? And if I do that will that mean I will really fuck up the progress? Thanks!

Hi all,
I have been using Tretinoin 0.05% lotion for 6 weeks now a long with an antibiotic gel called Eryacne. This combo started to dry me out slowly but surely and at the moment it's gotten really bad (bad redness and peeling). So I have started to use a moisturizer (an older version of the Clean&Clear moisturizer) which I used for my my previous Differin regimen. Now for my qeustions: can I use this moisturizer a long with the gel and lotion? Will the results be the same? Does it matter how I put the moisturizer on my face (does it have to be very softly done or doesn't it matter when I'm in a rush and just rub it on?) Does it matter if I apply more than is recommended because that fights the dryness better? Oh and I know the moisturizer is suposed to be applied after the gel/lotion but I don't know how long I have to wait before I can apply the moisturizer? Thanks!

My GP prescribed me Eryacne yesterday and I applied it for the first time this morning. I expected a cream like differin but instead something that looked like hair gel came out. I applied it with washed fingers but it didn't seem to spread nicely. So I browsed the web a bit and apparently I'm suposed to apply it with either cotton pads or applicators. So I went to the local drugstore and bought some cotton pads, now for my qeustion: How much of Eryacne am I suposed to put on the cotton pads for applying it on my face?

Hi all!
I'm starting this log to see how I'm progressing and maybe help other acne sufferers out. Also any advice is welcome! This is also my first weblog ever but I guess there's a first time for everything. Some personal information. Well, I'm a male, 17 years old and I'm living in The Netherlands (so I will probably make some grammar mistakes haha I've had acne from the age of 13 tough untill I hit 15 it was very mild, nothing to worry about. From age 15 to now I've had very persistent mild to moderate acne. When I just turned 16 I was pretty much at where I am now. I started using a topical antibiotic called Inderm which cleared me up within 2 months. After that I kept applying the antibiotic for 5 more months untill eventually I became immune and all my acne came back 2 times worse. So I went back to my GP and he prescribed me Differin 0.1 and 3 weeks later oral Minocycline to help manage the initial breakout. I was on it for 3 months and it didn't do shit. So I guess it's back to topical antibiotics. The oral Clindamycin can be seen as an oral antibiotic solution when other oral antibiotics have failed. I have high hopes for this treatment because topical antibiotics cleared me up before and I've red a lot of succes stories about oral Clindamycin. Should this treatment fail to work as well, my GP will send me to see a dermatologist. In The Netherlands it's pretty much certain Roaccutane is prescribed when this happens. So I guess if my antibiotics treatment fails, Roa is the next step. I'm suposed to see my GP again in 2 weeks if it hasn't improved anything by then, Roa it is. I will update this log every week and will add my 'before' pics soon. I will also post new pics every 2 weeks (if I can figure out how that is done Current condition: Well I haven't even popped a pill yet so no changes ofcourse. At the moment I'm still recovering from differin. My skin got really red and oily from it (I never had oily skin before I've always had acne around my chin and mouth and since this year it also started growing on my temples and jawbones. I also get the occasional pimple on my cheeks. I have about 15 active zits on my face right now. About 3 on my temples, 2 on my cheeks, 5 on my jawbones and 10 spread around my mouth and chin. I also have a load of red marks but I will deal with those later. All my pimples are pustules, whiteheads and maybe 2 papules. I only had about 3 cysts and no nodules during my acne carreer. Mentally I'm a real wreck at the moment. I really hoped for the Differin/Minocycline treatment to work and be clear around now. I will update my log in a week but I will keep an eye out for any advice or qeustions. I will add some 'before' pics within 2 days. Thanks for reading, L |
