Anyone use their acne line and get good results? If so, how extensive was your acne before you started to use this product line? It seems to have decent ratings on here and since I am really limited as to what I can use, I may look into trying it.

Ever since I got pregnant, my skin looks and feels like crap. I was on the regimen before that and I was finally making some nice improvements with it after 9 weeks of use. I go to the derm in a few weeks and I'm going to have a long talk with him about my options. The stuff he has me on now (Finacea and topical erythromycin) doesn't seem to be doing anything for me. I also wonder if I am getting that post-regimen backlash of acne on top of the hormones. I've read about a few people who got terrible break-outs after they stopped using the regimen.

I was on the DKR up until about 2.5 weeks ago when I had my first ob visit (I am pregnant.) I was told to discontinue the BP but was given the ok to go back on my category B topicals, which are Finacea and topical erythromycin. All I can say that between stopping the BP, the pregnancy hormones, and the use of Finacea and eythromycin, my skin looks like complete shit. I tried to add tea tree oil into my regimen and was told to stop that as well. I am at a point where I just want to give up the topicals since I don't feel like they are doing anything, but then again, it's only been 2.5 weeks. I was on that regimen for a long time before I did DKR because I was trying to concieve and the derm was being conservative with me. I didn't feel like it did much then either. What would you do? Would you keep using the Finacea and topical erythro, or give them up and see how it goes without them? I have a derm appointment at the end of this month.
BTW- I didn't know where else to post this, so sorry if it is in the wrong section.

So, since my derm and ob both are against me using BP while pregnant (I was on DKR while ttc), I thought I would try tea tree oil. It was drying up these little bugers on my chin pretty well, but I told the ob I was using it yesterday and she said that I should wait until I'm done with the first trimester to use it. WTH? Anyone have any good info on or experience using tea tree oil while pregnant? In any case, I guess I'll wait until next month to be done with the first trimester, but this is getting annoying.

So I went in for my first obstetric visit today (I am pregnant) and was advised to give up the BP portion of the regimen. From everything I have read, there doesn't seem to be much reported risk in using it while pregnant, but it is still considred a category C drug because the risk is unkknown and no human studies have been done to determine it's safety during pregnancy.
http://www.fetal-exposure.org/ACNE.html I am on my 9th week of the regimen and I finally feel like I'm turning a corner with it. My skin finally seems to be clearing up now. Would you continue using the regimen against your doctor's advice knowing that there are other docs out there who are ok with it and knowing that there are no known fetal malformations associated with its use, or would you play it safe, suck it up, and d/c the BP? |
