Hi, well I used to go to this board 10-15 times a day a few years ago. I was so obsessed with my acne before. (Very unfortunate to see the posters I enjoyed no longer posting here.. sad.gif) I got a dermatologist, got completely clear, no acne, no redmarks. What my derm prescribed me was Differin and Antibiotics. As most of you know, the acne goes into remission. I ended up just going back months and months later with worse acne than I had. Terrible.

Turns out she wanted to prescribe me accutane... Which I was okay with. I was scared because of all the negative stories I read on the internet. I was even more frustrated to know that the patients at this clinic had more than half of their patients on accutane. All pushing the same generic version (Do they get paid for it or something?) he was a big pusher for certain other products too, wanting me to use rebates etc even when I told him that my insurance made another drug free. He told me that he thinks accutane is a miracle drug and led me to believe that it was only a matter of time before he would write one of his patients a prescription for accutane.

Well, within two weeks I started getting horrible back pains. I sent some emails and they replied that they needed me to come into the office because this is something they've never heard of before. When I was asking questions he told me "We've only had one case of reported back pains and she was a gymnist in her younger life and it could have been attributed to that ". I decided not to go back because well, I just sort of turned a blind eye to my acne. I know I had acne and I used to be obsessed with it before, but I guess I came to realize I would have it no matter what.

As soon as summer really started for me this year, I decided I should try the Daniel Kern Regimen as I felt I needed to make some effort to make things better for myself. However...trying new things has ended up not always working out the best for me. For instance, I had my entire cheeks scarred with large purple and red marks after getting a huge breakout from Proactiv when I was 16.

I am a big gambler, but if I tried the DKR and my face got messed up again (as I thought I was allergic to benzoyl peroxide) I'd be devastated. So I decided to use the regimen for only half of my face. Probably not exactly the best control-experiment but my acne was usually very symmetrical. I had no "good side".

Seriously, my acne was big on both sides. The side I chose to do the regimen on, was my right side. It has been about a couple of days over 2 months and my right side of my face is significantly better than the left. In fact, I have recently went through a breakout and the left side of my face looks awful. Whilst the right side only has 2 active blemishes, the left has 10-15.

If enough people are interested I guess I could take pictures of this if I can find the charger to my camera. Bye smile.gif

PS: I guess I should add that recently I started the DKR on the left side of my face as well, people are definitely right when they say your skin has to adapt to the Benzoyl Peroxide, as the left side of my face is only using 1/3rd of a finger of BP and it''s itching/burning. Right side can handle a LOT and not irritate me at all.

EDIT: SORRY I meant to post this in the Daniel Kern Regimen logs subforum. Uhh I guess a moderator could decide where the best place to put this would be.
