So I went to my Dermatologist today for my monthly check up. I received very disappointing news. She could not extend my course as I was at the dose limit - so I had been on Accutane for five months at 60MG. I have not cleared up at all. She had hoped that I would, too. However, she did say that I have a month left (because it stays in my system that long), and to continue the leftover pills and hope that I will clear up in that month. I can't take another Accutane course until 2-3 months.. and she said if I didn't clear up in this last month, then we'd go to topicals and antibiotics, which I have already tried futilely. When I heard her say "Some people don't respond to Accutane like others" I felt really crushed. Having dealt with acne for so long, I had thought Accutane of my way out of this - this is what causes my self-confidence to be so sapped. I try to look positive on this, but it's really hard. I thought I would be lucky to clear up like some people when I had first started my course..
Wish me luck.. and whenever I start my next course in a few months...

My mom wants me to take multivitamins, but i'm pretty sure that they contain Vitamin A. I told her that I can't take Vitamin A on Accutane, because that's what I have read and heard (since Accutane is basically Vitamin A, right?) Well, my mom called my Dermatologist to ask and she said I could... I'm feeling pretty skeptical.. would anybody like to fill me in? I really don't want to take Vitamin A if it will screw up my course.

I think I have Strep throat.. yay.
Does this mean I will have to get off of my course so I can take Antibiotics? I really don't want to screw up my course... can I take Antibiotics while on Accutane? I have the feeling the answer will be no.

Okay, first off, I was curious to finding out the real answer to this question. Is it true that if you use Cortizone daily over a long period of time that you will build a resistance to it? If this is so, then I'm in a bit of a rut. I have a rashes from Accutane that are on my arms, hands and legs, but they will not stay calm unless I apply Cortizone AND Moisturizer everyday. What can I do if I build a resistance to it? As the rashes are very persistant, and I notice that its worse when I get out of the shower, I have to use something on it... annoying devils.

Sometimes I will accidentally hit my face too hard (not slapping, LOL) ... I mean going up to itch my face or something similar and accidentally hitting a pimple, a healing pimple, etc and it will bleed and it will break from the accidental "shove", if this makes sense. I am already scared of scarring and this is what has made me mainly stick away from picking at my face, but sometimes this crap happens. For instance, I just did it to one of my ones that had a scab and was healing and it's halfway off (ew, god, I know! gross!) and did it last night and it was bleeding. Should I just leave it alone or just finish the job? It's bleeding a tiny bit again. What do I do??
It's right in the middle of my freakin' eyebrows, too. ugh... |
