Hello ! This is a nice community, hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do!
Btw, Im a DKR user, if you have a question, just pm me

Marisa.
ps
I found the org's FAQ's, here they are:
1. How do I change my avatar?
After you uploaded it, it is changed, just hit F5 or the refresh key.
2. How do I gain access to the lounge?
300 posts + three months of membership
3. How can I change my name?
Go to 'my controls' and look under the 'personal profile' and go to 'change display name.'
If you can't do this it means, either you haven't been a member for long enough, or you have changed your name in a 90 day period.
4. How do I delete my account?
Honestly the best option is to stop posting, no one is gonna figure out you were here.
If it is really that necessary, you have to PM Joel.
5. My Signature is gone. Why?
Sigbot can be a meanie pants, but he only enforces the rules
Signatures: Linking to sites other than Acne.org is not allowed. Your signature is limited to a maximum of 5 images. Any image greater than 500 pixels in width or 250 pixels in height will be removed. If the sum of the file sizes of the images is greather than 50 KB, all images will be removed. It also has to be approved by a moderator (due to recent spamming). No animated files/images are accepted.
6. Moved topics
All you have to do is click on the link. If you do and you still can't see it, has been most likely moved to a forum you do not have access to. Topics are generally moved either to the correct forum (i.e., a BP question should be under the CSR forum, not under Accutane logs) or to the Dump if a moderator deems it necessary.
7. How do I attach a file?
In your "add reply" window there is a place under the test box which says "file attachments" find the file you want by clicking "browse" then "ok" then click "add this attachment."
8. How do you add words under your picture above the blue squares?
Go to your profile, click on 'edit profile' at the bottom, and type it in at the top.
9. What else should I know about the org?
It is a wonderful place that has great people who can give awesome advice. Every once and a while there is a meanie, but no worries, pm a mod if it is anything to bad. Enjoy the org smile.gif
10. How do I hide the Acne.org logo in the top left corner?
There is a dropdown menu in the bottom left of the message board that allows you to select "No logo". This will remove the logo at the top of every page.
If you have any other questions, feel free to PM a mod or veteran member!

Hi .org community, my name is Steven. I've been hanging a couple of forums on this site for a few months now, but I haven't formally introduced myself in this section. Since I'm pretty bored now, I decided to give this a shot. I'm an Asian-American US-born male who resides in Massachusetts. I'm currently enrolled in University of Massachusetts Amherst and am hoping to major in either Computer Science or Accounting & Info Systems. I suffered from moderate to severe acne throughout high school, but upon entering college, most of them cleared up. However, because of poor care of my face in the past, I'm left with several noticeable acne scars that I have to deal with now. Currently I'm on Dan Kern's Regimen to stop any new acne from forming and hopefully in the near future I will focus my attention on my old scars.
I don't really have anymore to say. PM me if you would like to chat!

Hello all. I have been using Dan's regimen for quite some time, but never actually registered or posted anything on here. I love the regimen, and it works very well for me. My only problems with it are:
1. No matter how hard I try, I always get flakes of dry skin around the edges of my face and around my chin. ALWAYS. I have tried every moisturizer under the sun - I even sometimes put vaseline on my face at night. It's no use! I always have them, any suggestions?
2. I have used the regimen for about 2 years, and I can see noticable aging. I am only 23, but have lines around my eyes! They aren't that noticeable, but they still bug me! Anyone else have this problem?

I'm 30 this year and have battled with acne for the past 14 years.
I've tried roacutane which made my acne worse and gave me depression, and all the available antibiotics out there. The anti-biotics worked for a while before I became resistant to them.
For the past 4 to 5 years, I've been on diane 35. It's a cheap but effective godsend that not only cleared up my acne but kept my face oil-free.
Will be getting next year and am planning to start a family, so i'll have to depend on topical solutions. Which is why I've been frequenting this web site. The irony is that I've actually discovered this regimen way before I started on roaccutane, but was hesitant to try it. I really should have know better.

Hey guys,
This site is great, none of my friends get why I'm so troubled by my acne, but all of you understand!
I'm starting Accutane in 3 weeks (it would've been sooner if the damn iPledge program weren't so bothersome) and I'm really excited. I've tried topicals, BP, BCP's, anti-biotics, everything. So finally my derm said yes to Accutane. I wouldn't want to go on Accutane but my skin has marks everywhere so I'm ready to take the risk.
My acne isn't actually severe and cystic, it's more moderate. But I'm dark-skinned so I have severe hyperpigmentation that creates black marks that last for months every time my skin gets irritated by the slightest thing. So I'm hoping the Accutane will make the acne disappear once and for all, and then I can work on the pigmentation, without worrying about new marks.
Any advice/experiences about starting Accutane would be great, what products to use, etc. I'm planning on using Cetaphil gentle cleanser and the moisturizer too. But I'd like to find a good moisturizer with SPF, does Olay have good products? I have Olay Regenerist but I don't know if it'll be too harsh for my skin.
Thanks!

Hi everyone! Wow this is a great site. I just started the regimen yesterday, and I can already see a difference! After reading many posts about foundation, I went out and bought Revlon's ColorStay SoftFlex today and tried it on. I really like it!! But when I went to wash my face tonight, I had no idea what to do about taking it off! Right now, I am using that Basis Sensitive Skin Bar that Dan recommended, but I don't think that alone will take off the ColorStay makeup. But if I use something else to take it off, will that screw up the whole regimen and just irritate my skin??
Please help me! What do y'all suggest I use??

I have been browsing this site for the past few days, and have started the regimen. Just wanted to introduce myself, and thank everyone for the ENORMOUS amount of information I have gained by reading everyone's experiences. It is nice to read stories that mirror my own, and to realize I am not alone!

Hey I've been using Proactiv for a about a year and it hasn't been working that well.. Before I order Dan's benzol gel I was wondering if the Proactiv benzol 2.5 cream would work fine as long as I follow the regimen..I have two or three bottles of it still and don't want to waste it..

I guess I have mild acne and I'm working on getting rid of all of it. I read the description about acne dysmorphia and I self diagnosed myself...so it'd be nice to get some support because dealing with it is so overwhelming.
thanks.

This is my first post and reading this site brought on one of those "Thank God for the internet" moments. I've had acne since I was 14. Nothing overly ridiculous but an unbelievable aggravation that eventually brought on an obsession that I haven't been able to shake and I'm almost - gasp - 30.
I went to the dermatologist when I was younger and my acne was classified under the "teenage acne it will go away" umbrella so nothing was really prescribed. Fast forward almost 15 years and i still break out. My acne has never been severe enough for accutane and compared to most of the stories I've read it really isn't that bad, however a few months ago I had a horror bump that shook me to my core. It started on the side of my nose and I swear it ended up looking like a leg was coming out of my face. It was so bad I took off work, and when I did go in I didn't turn the lights on in my office. It was an experience that only people with acne can understand. It just would not go away, no matter what I did. Alcohol, toothpaste, rubber cement (joke) nothing worked. When it was all over I ended up with a depressed scar on my nose and I'm considering cosmetic surgery. I've never classified my bumps, but it was definitely a cyst and I am not emotionally equipped to deal with more horror bumps like the one on my nose. I've actually been considering seeing a psychologist, it was that bad.
My boyfriend thinks I'm nuts to say the least. When I break out it's all I think about.
Finding this site has brought me tremendous comfort. Thanks

Hi everyone! I'm Cheryl and I joined some days ago now so I thought I should say hello and introduce myself.
I'm really liking it here. Everyone's friendly and brings something good to the site - helpful information, good tips, encouragement and humour.
Anyway, I've had problems with my skin for over 10 years now on and off. My acne has been mild to moderate and I have a tendancy to pick a lot. I never manage to stay clear very long. But saying that, I've always done pretty much the same things and used the same products to treat my skin. I should've figured out if doing the same thing doesn't work, it's probably time to try something different.
Finding this site has been great because I now have some new ideas of what to try and I'm feeling optimistic. At the moment, I'm giving the DK regimen a try and I'm loving it.
Well, it's great to meet you all and I wish you all good luck whatever you're doing.

Hey everyone! I have been reading the boards but today I finally decided to post and join. I'm 20 years old and started getting acne when I was 11 or 12. I had severe acne on my back face and chest. I have tried pretty much everything and anything. I have done minocin and adoxa and accutane two times! My acne cleared up so well after the first round of accutane but then it came back after a year so I had to go on again. I though that would be the last straw but now its 3 years later and i still have acne. My back was clear for a while but now it is coming back again. However, it is not nearly as bad. My face goes through phases of semi-clear and bad. I was just wondering if any of you are in the same boat with such persistant acne that won't even stay away afer accutane or if you have any advice.
Part of me thinks its possibly my body is so sick of antibiotics and perscriptions that it hardly knows how to heal itself anymore. Any advice?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi i've had cystic acne for about two years now and ive been on Accutane for 6 months. I've had moderate imporvments like my face clearing up, but i continue o ge cysts on my back, as some of you know they are very painful and embarassing. I guess i joined this site to find answers to two questions i have right now. My first question is will i need a second course, and my second is a two part question, has anyone tried B5 vitamin supplements, i've heard good things, and can you take B5 with accutane?

Hi everyone!
I've been to this site a few times now, but this is my first time to the message boards. I started to get acne during high school, but it was pretty mild. I am 22 now and I have been on a course of Isotane once during last year. Been acne free for about 3 months and now my skin is worse than before I started the treatment. Anyway, just wanted to say hi! This site is really helpful, and full of lovely people! Nice to meet you all!

I live in Southern California, USA. Anyway, just thought I would introduce myself. See you guys around!

hi everyone.... it's my first post and i've been looking around. i've had acne since junior high (puberty) mostly it has been the worst around my chin and jaw but i've gotten it on other areas of my face. I also have issues on my legs (upper thighs) and butt area. Although I think these might be ingrown hairs??
anyway... I can see that there are a lot of others who have had worse situations than me so in a way, i feel a little thankful my situation is not worse. however, i still get acne and i'm getting close to 30 and i'm really fed up. i've never seen a doctor for it because i've never believed they could really completely cure it. i'm super bad at keeping cleansing routines (or any routine for that matter!)

But my absolute worst worst worst habit (worse than the acne itself!) is that I can't stop picking and irritating my skin. I know it's bad but I can't stop. It's really embarassing to admit but I think it's just such a bad habit that I can't kick. I've done a lot of thinking about it recently and I find myself doing it without even realizing I'm doing it. I think I need therapy or something. Maybe it's underlying depression or stress that causes me to pick? It's like some sick form of self-mutilation that is happening subconsciously?! I just can't stop even though I tell myself to!
Anyhow..... that is me. Besides my acne story... I became a mom a year ago and have been loving this new chapter of my life. I'm happily married and stay at home with my son. We just relocated to a much smaller house so this past year has been full of stress. I'm the type of person that thrives on pressure and my life always seems to be full of stress no matter what I do. It's like I create it if it's not there!!
Ok.... So I'm looking forward to learning about acne and how to hopefully clear mine up. I have been having laser hair removal (on the chin) and the lady is trying to sell me some obagi products that she claims will clear my skin. I'm skeptical of products. I use Origins Checks and Balances as a cleanser and wear Bare Minerals Cosmetics...

Hello all i'm a 22 year old male from California. I've had moderate to severe acne for about 7 or 8 years now, and im absolutely sick of it. I honestly can't even remember a day with clear skin anymore. . .
I've been lurking about these boards for a while now, but never registered to post. There seems to be lots of cool people here who are both helpful and supportive, and who know exactly i'm goin through. So i figured i'd sign up and join the community. Oh yeah i recently began taking Accutane so i will be starting a log if anyone wants to check that out.
Again hello to all of you and Thanks for reading, peace!

Hey all,
I actually just found this forum, and I am happy that I can talk to people with the same problem as me and see what other people are doing about it.
I have been dealing with accutane since I was 13, and I am 20 now. I just started my first year of college, and I am miserable because of my acne problem. acne just makes me lose all of my confidence. and I feel hideous most of the time. I have been on Accutane 3 times, and I am going on a 4th time next month, and it can't come soon enough!
I have been dealing with so many things this year. from my acne to moving away from home for the first time. i am just scared because now i have weight issues as a way of dealing with my acne. i threw up twice this past month, because I figure if I caan't have good skin then I might as well be skinny right? i know it's not good, and i am trying to work on it.
whoo, felt good to get that out, even if nobody posts back!

Hi, I'm the DaDiva and was just told I have acne cause by yeast. I had been to a medical doctor, who could not really determine what I had. So when this dark flaky mark appear on my forehead again and stay for more than two weeks. I knew it was time to seek a second opinion, so today is when I found out that this was coming from the yeast in my body. I really did not understand and decide to do some research.
I'm looking for some cleaning methods for my face that will keep this under control and some diet tips as well???
Help!!
