I don't post much but i've read so much and have watched all of Dan's videos. If you decide to read all of this, then I love you.
I ordered the starter kit a couple weeks ago, and as I waited for it to arrive I began on the Regimen with what I had laying around.
For the week leading up to my shipment of the Acne.org products, I used:
-Cetaphil cleanser
-Neutrogena Terminator 10 (10% Benzoyl Peroxide spot treatment)
-Cetaphil moisturizer
Within the first day my skin started clearing up and I was so surprised and happy. The 10% Benzoyl Peroxide was really powerful and got rid of my pimples within two days.
I then received the Acne.org products and even though I was having success with the other products, I decided to start on Dan's products.
I had the same successful results as I was previously having, except for a few breakouts here and there.
I discovered that the Acne.org Moisturizer is what causes my skin to become red. So I will sometimes use my Cetaphil moisturizer which is a little better and stings less.
During the first week my face became extremely tight, but after week 1 it started to loosen up and I bumped of the benzoyl peroxide from a dime size to thick half finger. I guess I am lucky to become so used to the benzoyl peroxide this quickly. I keep using more and more now because i am not experiencing a difference from when I only use a little to using a lot.
Well that's all I have to say for now, i'll keep posting about how my experiences are going.

Hey my name is tom ive suffered from acne fromage 15 till currently now 26.It sucks.Waking up in the morning new break outs using a needle to pot several whiteheads then trying to enjoy the day but waiting for the next new arrivals.I just want to have clear skin like everybody else, just to see how feels not to wake up and worry about your face. Not having to conceal yourself in your room away from friends and family.work is the worst.Testing new products hoping one will work watching your diet while your friends and family comsume junk and dont even wash there face and have clear skin,You feal like an outcast perhaps a mutant in a way.A feeling distrought and low self esteem.I envoy everyone around me and watch as they live life normally not going for there dreams and if i just had there clear skin what a boost of cofidence and why they take life for granted.Walk in my shoes for just one day, week, months, years how do you feel.My life has been destroyed for 11 miserable years, what my life would be like if i never had acne.Peace no Peace, until this war is ended

Hi, Acne.org Users:
I'm new to the Regimen and was wondering if, when you apply the BP and moisturizer, if you get this flaky-pasty residue. What are you suppose to do?

Alright, it's time to take this public.
I am 23 years old right now, and I have suffered with moderate to severe acne for the majority of my adolescent and adult life up to this point. I was born and raised in Massachusetts, and, as you may be able to tell from my user name, am on my way to working for the U.S. Government and am currently living in Washington D.C.
At this point, I have visited a total of 3 dermatologists. I have taken at least 4 prescribed oral antibiotics, as well as a myriad of topical creams, and NOTHING has worked. They always seemed to take effect for the first week or so, then my skin seemed to develop an immunity and the acne would return with a vengeance. I was offered an Accutane treatment while in Massachusetts, but after learning of the risks and side effects associated with it, I declined (regrettably)
To make a (very) long story short, I am living here in DC on my own at this point, and my acne is just as bad as it always has been. I don't know if any of you share(d) in my misery, but it is at the point where I avoid looking in mirrors, avoid getting photographed by any means possible, and find it difficult to be taken seriously among my peers. 10 days ago, I finally decided enough is enough and found a local dermatologist who prescribes accutane, and he completely agreed that I was a candidate for the treatment.
In addition to the accutane (claravis), he also prescribed epiduo gel, which is mostly benzyl peroxide and is extremely irritating...considering stopping epiduo until I see the derm again. So far, 10 days into claravis, I honestly have yet to see a change, in fact I have suffered the infamous "initial breakout"...like I needed any more.
I guess what I am looking for out of this blog is any support, suggestions, or comments you guys could offer. I will gladly follow any other blogs, and hope to share my experience with you all.

I'm 35 and I've been dealing with acne since I am 13 years old. It cleared during both my pregnancies but came back with a revange afterwards, with VERY oily skin and lots of small red pimples.
When I was younger, I used antibiotics for many years with no effects. In the last 3 years, I was using ProActiv because I couldn't find anything better. I even tried a Pixel laser treatment (a kind of peeling) and my skin was looking great for a few days... then back with the oily skin and acne.
When I stumbled on this website I decided to try my version of the "regimen". Imagine my surprise when it worked! It's been 1 month now and my skin is as beautiful as when I was pregnant. It is truly amazing that something so simple works!
So, I just wanted to share my regimen with you (I'm from Canada):
- I use Spectro Jel twice a day (the one for blemish-prone skin),
- Then I wait 5 minutes and use a gel containing 2.5% of peroxyd benzoil (I use a lot of it and cover my whole face. I tried the one from Spectro Jel and another brand: both work fine).
- Then I wait at least 5 minutes and apply the Spectro Jel Moisturizing cream (the one for blemish-prone skin) to which I add 3 drops of essential oil (I use the Physiodermie oil, which is very expensive but I expect the 100$ bottle to last almost 1 year).
In the first 2 weeks, my skin was peeling off because of the peroxyd benzoil. But I continued and now my skin is back to normal and almost not peeling anymore. And best of all, my skin is not oily anymore!
Thank you Dan for sharing this great regimen with us. It truly changed my life!

Keehl |

15th November 2009 01:20 PM Last post by: ItalianBoy |
Well, I'm not really sure what to say here, so I suppose I'll start with a basic introduction.
You can call me Keehl (the last name of one of my favorite anime characters). Umm, I'm a girl. I'm 13 and have had moderate acne since I was about 11. Before the start of 6th grade, my doctor prescribed Differin cream 0.1%, but I didn't really care enough to start using it until the summer of 2008, almost a year later.
The summer I started was great - almost all of my acne was gone in a few days, and stayed mostly gone throughout the summer. Woot woot!
... Of course, all good things must come to an end, so I started flaring up again once school was back in session. It wasn't that bad, but I was super self-conscious through the whole year. I borrowed my dad's 0.1% gel and started using it instead of the cream, and it seemed to work a little better while making my skin less oily, but it also dried my face out.
I moisturized and moisturized and moisturized and just dealt with my face getting progressively worse until, well, a few days ago. I've been in 8th grade for a few months now, and I hope to be able to start high school next year with significantly better skin. So on Thursday, 11-12-09, I went to the doctor. He took a look at my skin and nodded, saying things like "yeah, you've got a lot of little bumps on your face" and "uh huh, yes, that is pretty bad", which believe me was VERY encouraging. Dx
Anyway, he gave me Differin gel 0.3% and some 50mg minocycline. I'm supposed to use the Differin every night and take two pills a day, one in the morning and one at night. I'm on my third day now, and it seems to be getting worse. I'm not that worried, though - he told me I would probably break out before it got better.
However, I'm a little worried about how much the stronger gel seems to be drying my face out. I have yet to find a good moisturizer that won't make me break out, so any suggestions are appreciated.
Wow, if you read all that, I officially love you. I don't even know if that's what I was supposed to do here, but somehow it feels a lot better just getting it all out there. I have no one in real life that I can really talk to about acne - my dad still has it, but for a fellow sufferer, he's pretty insensitive and tends to just make me feel worse whenever we talk about it (not intentionally, of course).
So... yeah! Hi everyone!

Kill Your Acne |

15th November 2009 02:27 AM Last post by: Kill Your Acne |
I KILLED MY ACNE
Let's cut the bullshit and review the following plan for you to achieve the clearest facial skin possible. This plan is costly, time-consuming, tedious, uncomfortable and occasionally painful. Suck on reality.
This plan is divided into three parts:
PART 1: KILLING THE ACNE (on your face)
PART 2: ELIMINATING THE SCARS (you know, red marks that take forever to disappear)
PART 3: MAINTAINING HEALTHY SKIN (looking hot)
Note: If you have cystic acne, go to a derm and take accutane. This will not work for you. If you don't have cystic acne, you have no business taking accutane. Shut up.
I was one of those clear-skinned rats until the age of 24, when my face exploded. Two hellish years later, I am 26 and I'm back to being clear-skinned. During that time, I had tried Dan Kern's regimen for five months, and although I loved his products, it didn't work.
Then I found a book called "The Acne Cure" by Terry J. DuBrow, M.D., & Brenda D. Adderly, M.H.A.
The techniques in that book form the central framework of this plan, only with several crucial additions and adjustments. Shut up and pay attention.
PART 1: KILLING YOUR ACNE
The very first thing you need to do (which is not instructed in the book) is find a salon, spa or clinic where a licensed aesthetician works. You'll want someone with a minimum of five years experience. Research this thoroughly, and travel far if you have to. The service that you want is an "acne relief facial" or whatever fancy name the joint calls it. Not a regular facial, not a "vitamin-C facial" or a "deep hydration" facial, an acne facial.
You have acne.
Make an appointment for this acne facial. In the meantime, go out or online and buy the following supplies:
1. A 2% Salicylic Acid Cleanser (with no other active ingredient)
2. A 10% Glycolic Acid Cream (Dan Kern's AHA is unbeatable)
3. A 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide Gel (just buy Dan Kern's BP)
4. Some cold packs for injuries and stuff that go in the freezer (if you don't have them already)
Now you get your acne facial. The aesthetician is going to painfully extract all of your zit juice, blackheads and general face scum. Everything is coming out. All of your active acne. If your eyes don't tear from the pain during this process, you're not getting your money's worth.
Speaking of money, this appointment is going to cost you around $100.00. The pain thickens.
On the way out, don't let the aesthetician talk you into buying any of their crap-ass "clinique line" products. They'll want $30 or $40 for some wimpy cylinder of shit containing 0.000005% Salicylic acid. You can get the generic brand of NeutragIna's 2% Salicylic for four bucks at CVS or Walgreens.
Now after your facial, you're gonna look like hell. Don't sweat it. The pinkness goes away in 24-48 hours, and the little black scabs fall off soon after. Trust me, you'll enjoy touching your face and not feeling anything three dimensional. However, this post-facial glory is temporary, a week at the most, as your body is conspiring to produce new acne. Don't let it. You must start your new daily regimen the night of your facial appointment day.
Here is your new regimen:
EVENINGS: Gently wet your face with lukewarm water. Massage a nickel sized amount of 2% Salicylic Acid cleanser into your face. Leave it on for 3-4 minutes. Gently and thoroughly rinse it all off with lukewarm water. Pat your face dry with your favorite towel.
Next, take two ice cubes out of the freezer, put one in each hand and rub them against your face for a few minutes. Your entire face should get cold and red, long before the ice cubes completely melt. When you feel that your face is on the verge of being frozen, quickly grab your towel and pat-dry all the moisture off. You'll want your face to be as cold and as dry as possible to take the Benzoyl Peroxide gel. Immediately apply Dan's BP gel (that you keep in the refrigerator) generously all over your face. You may have to use as many as five pumps. Don't be stingy.
Always remember to keep the BP in the fridge, and make sure your fingers are cold from holding the ice cubes as you apply the BP. Cold face, cold BP, and cold fingers applying BP. Once the BP is applied, grab your cold packs out of the freezer, lay down somewhere comfy and cover your face with the packs for no less than ten minutes. 15 minutes is long enough. When you're done, let the excess BP absorb until dry. Apply a moisturizer before bed if you want. I don't.
MORNINGS: Gently wet your face with lukewarm water. Massage a nickel sized amount of 2% Salicylic Acid cleanser into your face. Leave it on for 3-4 minutes. Gently and thoroughly rinse it all off with lukewarm water. Pat your face dry with your favorite towel.
Next, apply Dan's AHA 10% Glycolic Acid cream all over your face. I keep that stuff in the fridge, too. I prefer the cold feeling of the application this way, but it doesn't matter and it's up to you. Just don't refrigerate your salicylic acid.
Do not rinse off the glycolic acid like the book says, but do apply an oil-free SPF if you're going to be more than five minutes in the sun. As you already know, daily use of AHA and BP increases sensitivity to ultra blah blah blah.
So there you have it. Now you just have a bunch of stupid flat red marks on your face, but we're going to get rid of those, too. Do not be an asshole and skip your regimen on any given morning or evening. You must do this every day, continuously for weeks and months until your skin is healed in PART 2, where things get really expensive (Retin-A, microdermabrasion). Remember, unless you have cystic acne, a Dermatologist should only be visited after your acne is killed.
Do not stop this fucking regimen.
COMING SOON!
PART 2: ELIMINATING THE SCARS (you know, red marks that take forever to disappear)
PART 3: MAINTAINING HEALTHY SKIN (looking hot)

Hey everyone, I'm Zaila.
I'm a 3rd year college student living in California.
For some reason, I'm the only one in my (immediate) family to have acne issues.
I've had it since middle school and I used to cover it up with make-up so much back in the day which could be why it's a bit worse now.
Before, it was on my cheeks which cleared up but it has moved a bit south to my jawline and migrated north to my forehead which I have never had before until the last couple of months. It's really bad under my ears, on my jawline.
I also work as a make-up artist (at MAC) and my co-workers all wear tons of make-up but I usually go work without foundation (if I ever wear it, it's a foundation specifically and just use a concealer (with salicylicacid) on the spots.
It just seems like when I get rid of it one places, it starts somewhere else. It's really frustrating and I'm tired not being able to leave my house unless i have make-up on.
I just recently found out i have allergies to soy (and I'm lactose intolerant)
Don't tell me to try Proactiv, that worsened it for me. And I'm a college student budget so I couldn't afford to see a dermatologist if I wanted.
Who knows, maybe I'll find my answer here

Hi everyone,
I'm a TV Personality in one of the largest cities in America.
And my adult acne is my dirty little secret.
I'm blogging my way through Accutane treatment. 1 week in now - on a generic Clavaris or Claravis or however you spell it.
I can't wait to share my stories and I want to hear about yours!
I can't wait to take our struggle public- people have to know how much of a challenge it is to live with this, and what can be done to make sure acne's being addressed as quickly as it pops up.
Visit my blog and tell me about your battle - what works/what doesn't/
what's the most common misconception about acne sufferers?
I think it's that we have some kind of control over it- what we eat/ what we drink/ how we wash our faces/ IF we wash our faces, etc...
what do you think?

Hey everyone.
So about myself.
I'm a 19 year old guy now. I've had acne really since I was in middle school. On my face, it was probably at its worst when I was in the first couple years of high school. On my body (chest, back, and shoulders mostly), my acne was probably at its worst in the last couple years of high school.
Now, in my second year of university, my acne is classified as "moderate to severe." At this very moment, I have some acne on my face. Smaller pimples are on my forehead and cheeks. I have larger, nastier sort of bumps and red marks/scares along much of my jaw line. On my back, I have a number of pock marks and scars, and right now I have a variety of nasty cystic acne bumps. On my chest, I also have a number of pock marks, cystic acne marks, and smaller pimples. My shoulders, also, have a number of smaller, redder pimples on them.
Sigh.
Anyway, so I have been in doxycycline for about a month now. It seems to have improved my facial acne, but maybe even made my body acne worse. I shower almost every day, and I wash my body with some cheap Irish Spring soap. I rinse my face several times a day, but I only use hot water for about a minute. Also, I will use ice to chill the more inflamed parts of my face, because I heard somewhere that that will help to cool them down.
Anyway. I have a range of problems. Facial acne. Body acne. Cystic acne. Red marks. Nodular scars and bumps. Etc etc etc.
Pretty gross.
There is just so much wrong, I don't know where to start.
Can anyone put me in the right direction?
Thanks.

Hey my name is Amanda. I have had acne since around late 4th grade, or early 5th grade. I have been trying different creams, routines and oral medicines to get my skin clear. Overall most everything has been a huge fail. I am tired of being the only one out of my friends who actually has acne. Most kids in my school don't have bad acne like I do, or they cover it up with makeup. Now that I'm in highschool I am really getting annoyed. I want clear skin!
My skin is really really oily, and I sweat a lot around my face-it's really embarrassing....I am tired of being picked on, looked at weirdly and just I don't know being embarrassed. I just started a new type of oral medicines and skin cleansers that might help, but I nothing is happening so far. I think I actually might be pretty without acne, and I think I could be more confident again. Maybe I would feel like myself again instead of how I've felt about my face for the last 5 years....I think I have a good personality, but I wish I had the looks to go with it
Anyways....enough blubbering HI!!!!

Hey, I'm new to this place.
I'm 14 years old and have acne for about 2 years. I've had some moments where I've had pretty clear skin. Since about late April/May I started to have my worst breakout ever. I broke out all over my cheeks. My forehead stayed clear for a while. I have a few pimples on my forehead which are barely noticeable. Right now, I'm seeing a derm. He's giving me Zianna Gel and Doryx. I also take some Zinc too. Well, I don't know what else to say.
Acne sucks.

I've been quite skeptical about this website for years. I have mild chest and back acne. I've been to doctors, dermatologists, and they all did the same thing. I even tried proactiv solution... Waste of money. After only a few months using the AHA+ product I purchased through this site, my acne has reduced by 80%. Light tanning takes care of the rest. Spray tanning, no sun, uv beds... The funny thing is that I was prescribed by my dermatologist another brand of alpha hydroxy acid which didn't work for some reason. Weird, whatever you guys put in your bottle, I thank you for it. Cheap, and lasts helluva long time too. Thanks!

I've never blogged or posted anything on a forum before but here it goes. I felt I needed to this b/c I know I lot of people have spent a lot of time and money over their acne issues; maybe crying in mirror or over the phone to friend. Thinking... is this vain? Should I just accept what's been handed to me? Well I say, "Do not go gentle into that good night..."! ;-)
With the onset of cystic acne at the age of 30 I tried many acne solution products. I paid for many visits to my dermatologist and endured 6 months on Accutane (it gave me Acid Reflux). All worked very little or not at all. Every time I saw a Pro Active commercial I wanted to throw something at the TV! Been there, done that and FAIL!
I've always thought to myself that if I found something that worked even if required a daily regimen for the rest of my life I would do it! I work out several times a week b/c I want to be healthy and strong so if I just found something....anything!
Now I do take into account that I've only been on the acne.org regimen for 2 weeks but so far this regimen has literally healed my face. Among many little pimples that are gone, I had two cysts that are healed, brown spot fading and no sign of a scar! Hallelujah! Nothing, I mean nothing has worked so quickly and efficiently as this regimen. How long will this last? Forever I hope!
So I am saying don't give up! Even if you haven't found what's right for you keep your head up! If you want to keep looking, trying and hoping, do it! It's your skin and no has the right to judge you if you want to keep trying.
I wish the best of luck to those who are on that acne solution path; may you find peace with your skin.
Sincerely,
Gloria
