The battle continues... in fact, it is a saga or something.

Well I'm now going all out on the body acne/PY. Face is supremely clear and if you didn't know about my back, you'd think my skin is flawless like a Mortal Kombat victory. But in reality, there is a warzone on my shoulders.

As of now the following are being used:

-Zinc (heavy amounts)
-Nizoral
-Neutrogena Body Wash
-Neutrogena BP

Basically I'm frying the skin off my body. It is drying up all the crap there and it is slowly coming off. The retreat has gone from the front deltoids to the rear deltoids and some near the top center of the back. My neck is clearing away as well. It seems like they think they can hide. I have also purposely lost some body mass and muscle so I can reach behing my back to attack their army.

I haven't tanned in about 2 weeks. I plan to continue destroying them. I have also drank nothing but water and alcohol for about a month.

Wish me luck!

You realise you aren't distroying it at all, but rather making it worse right...?

Offcourse your skin will look good at the moment because it's dry as fuck and all the pimples dry up, but in the long run you're actually making the condition worse by attacking your skin in this way.

I did the same thing to my face years ago including cutting open my chin with a razor blade. I have 0 scars on my face and have had 0 acne for years. You gotta blow away the battlefield before you can build a paradise. smile.gif

My shoulders are finally taking a turn for the better. The BP is taking over although the itching last night was nearly insane - still refused to give in to the itching. Just went to sleep with my hands in my shorts. Right now the active acne/PY is at less than 10% and overall clearness is about 60%. Have been eating more fruits and vegetables to keep toxic stuff out of me. Face is still 100%. Chest is finally back to 95%+. Behind the neck is about 75%. Upper back/shoulders is at 35%.

Not using any sponges or loofa in the shower anymore. Rubbing in Nizoral and SA with palm only.

I have a couple questions about the Nizoral and/or Head and Shoulders. I have been using the Head and Shoulders for two days and I'm not sure how long I should wait for results and how exactly to apply it. If I lather it up in the tub and put it on it runs everywhere, do I put it on straight from the bottle with no lather? On dry skin or wet? Do I then use a mild cleanser afterwards like Cetaphil? I think I need a bathroom assistant haha

Also, I see some redness with it. Is that normal? Sort of a " it's going to get worse before it gets better" sort of thing.

Please help someone! I am so desperate for a cure!

Hey Jewels, I'm on my third day of using head and shoulders, and am starting to see results today. I have virtually no acne, just stupid PT which is really annoying! The first night, I wet my face, lathered up the Head and Shoulders and let it dry on for 10 minutes, and the washed it off. I did that the second day too, but also just rubbed some head and shoulders onto a lump I had on my back. It was completely dried up the next day, so last night I decided to rub it onto my face when it is dry and leave it the night. I woke up today, and my skin looks much better, I still have spots, but they are smaller and less itchy. Hopefully they will disappear in a few days. I used a gentle exfoliant to get dry skin off (because my face was quite dry) and then applied moisturiser, and my skin looks and feels great. I'm only going to do the over night thing until everything is completely dried up and then pull back my use of head and shoulders to twice a week and maybe mix it up with Sel Blue as well so my skin doesn't get used to one product. Don't despair! It is fixable.

After years of being a member on this site, I have finally given in...

I purchased Acne.org Regimen LOL. sad.gif
I got AHA and 16 oz of BP. I figured the cost would be better than Neutrogena's. Not that Neutrogena's wasn't working. It clearly was, but I'm trying to save money. AHA seems more directed for back issues like Dan's video shows. I eusa_pray.gif that it does something.

Right now my back is about the same. I am also going to start wearing white cotton tee shirts instead of wife beaters now.

Face is still 100% clear.

Back crap is my nemesis!!! ninja.gif

I get the exact same acne as you. Face pretty much clear, but acne on chest, shoulders and back of neck.(Worst on shoulders) It's probably because of heavy weightlifting.

Will keep you informed if I find a 100% solution:P

If your folliculitis is due to a fungal infection, BP can make it worse. Killing the bacteria on the skin allows the fungus to overgrow, which is why people sometimes get PF after being on oral antibiotics. If it is a bacterial form of folliculitis, the BP will help though. So, if you notice it worsening or if its not getting better, you might want to drop the BP.

Have you tried mandelic acid yet? I get really great results for body PF with mandelic serum and a salicylic body wash.

------------
My regimen:

a.m.
-Wash with Face Reality Silica scrub
-Face Reality Salicylic toner
-Finacea
-Face Reality Hydrating Emulsion or Cranberry Cream
-Face Reality SPF 30 for Acne Prone Skin

p.m.
-Wash with Face Reality Silica scrub
-8% Face Reality Mandelic Acid serum every other night
-Vivant Derm A Gel -Wait 20 min
-Face Reality Acne Med (5% BP) on chin/jawline only

I also get facials at Face Reality Acne and Skin Care Clinic every 4-6 wks.

Well it is hard to tell what the BP is doing. It is drying up the active stuff quicker, but new stuff appears in other places. I think a lot of it is due to weightlifting and fabric rubbing against my shoulders. It is not on my whole back, just upper back and shoulders and bottom of my neck. There is none on my chest anymore. Nothing on legs or butt or face. I don't know what to do but will try Dan's stuff when it arrives.

It sucks how I get punished for being big LOL. I am already wearing XXL shirts LOL. sad.gif

Thanks. We weightlifters need to find the solution!!! Last time I was at the beach, I had to keep my shirt on even though I was ripped, my shoulders looked like a scientific disaster.

Hey thanks for the advice Dancinggal! I am going to give Head and Shoulders a shot, though ten minutes of waiting in the shower seems like a lifetime to me haha I'll update on my progress. Here's hoping!

Update:

-Used a brand new loffa today (got tired of trying to make bubbles with my hands)
-Let the SA soak deep in my shoulders and back
-Woke up today and some redness is fading!!!
-Cut open a few huge bumps on my back last night. Huge puss and other s*** came out. I was glad!!! (no scarring - used my Extreme Regimen technique - sterile/surgical/perfection)
-Neck is fading away

I also wore a brand new white tee shirt today under my dress shirt for work. I sweat a lot when talking to others in the office and I could feel the sweat get taken away from my body by the shirt. White tee shirt FTW!!!

I think the wife beaters kept the sweat close to my skin but the shirt keeps the sweat away. Hopefully improvement continues!!!

No changes in diet. Still waiting for Dan's Regimen in the mail.

How long have you had body acne for? And has it gotten progressively worse during the years?

No just recently. I have had a couple spots here and there rarely but recently like last 3-4 months, it has turned to s***. Like it was just nasty. My clothing has gotten tighter though from my back getting bigger so that may be a reason. I will see how the white tees do.

I also changed my bedsheets this past weekend so that might help.

-Wash off everything after 5-10 minutes
-Towel Dry
-Wait 10-15 minutes
-Apply BP to redness area
-Wear white tee shirts (new) instead of wife beaters

Hey Necro and Willow,
I think I might have PF too but i'm not sure...i've had these tiny tiny bumps literally all over my chest for a long time now (as long as i can remember)....they're definitely not standard acne. You can't feel bumps and they're hard to see unless you look up close. You can't really see any blackheads, but some of them do seem to be plugged with oil (at least when i squeeze, sometimes i can get something out). BP has zero effect.

I don't remember noticing these little bumps on my face until the past year or so...i assumed they must be clogged pores. they're esp. concentrated on my chin and i have some on my cheek. i may have never noticed because i had real inflamed acne before, and a constant covering of cysts on my chin. I was on oral antibiotics for quite some time and i've been using antibacterials on my face for over 10 years now, so it would make sense that i've messed up my bacteria/yeast skin balance....Does this sound like it could be fungal/folliculitis?

There's also one more thing that may or may not be related...i have discoloration around my mouth and some tiny bumps too (like upper lip area)...i assumed it was sun damage/product damage, but i've read that perioral dermatitis (which is also fungal) can also have this symptom...it all seems to be making sense....

recently i've incorporated lactic and glycolic acids which seemed to help a little, but i would think that exfoliation wouldn';t do much to help a fungus right? maybe the small improvement was just in my head. I've also begun using the oil cleansing method with castor oil and that really did seem to coincide with some improvement in my chin area...i will have to wait a couple of weeks to see how that goes. I've read that castor oil is a strong anti-fungal, so maybe it really is helping. I was also thinking about trying oil of oregano applied topically, maybe only on my chest first to see if it works before i try it on my face.

@ Willow: you've mentioned some natural anti-fungals, do you take them orally or use them topically or both?

what do you guys think about topical application of probiotics since this is a yeast problem? Or do you think that taking a probiotic orally would be just as effective or even better?

I might also try nizoral, but it would be nicer to find something natural...

I don't know about most of the stuff with your face because I don't have problems with acne on the face. But the chest stuff, I have some and they are usually white heads. It isn't fungal. It is just plugged up follicles that trap the oil. You shouldn't mess with it and just keep doing what you are doing. Try using Nizoral maybe or some exfoliate product. It is just clogged pores on the chest.

I also don't recommend any anti-biotics ever. They completely screw up your body's natural chemistry and sometimes permanently as you will be trying to play catch up for years or maybe the rest of your life.

The derm was referring to this study: http://www.ijdvl.com/article.asp?issn=0378...3;aulast=Parsad

You're probably better of using it for a longer time tough. Definitely keep us updated on the progress.

They completely screw up your body's natural chemistry and sometimes permanently as you will be trying to play catch up for years or maybe the rest of your life.

hmm yeah what I have definitely doesn't look like any pictures of folliculitis i can find on the internet...but it also doesn't look like acne. so what is it? sad.gif they are just tiny tiny flesh colored bumps, they don't come to any sort of head (no whitehead, no blackhead), but some will release something if persistently squeezed (looks like the oil that comes out of a blackhead)...there aren't too many on my face, just concentrated in my chin area...but they are literally all over my chest. Now, to be honest, they are really not noticeable to anyone but me, but i'd just like to know what they are. I feel like it might be some part of the puzzle as to what causes my acne.

They are white heads most likely. Don't touch them unless you know what you are doing. If they are all over your chest, try using SA for awhile and see if that helps.
